SIPP providers should have a duty of care, as should Imperial Trustees but sometimes the fees are all that is important.

Either a SIPP or it isn't.  If you want due diligence then it's not self invested in layman's terms..personally, hate sipps unless genuine bricks and mortar.

Exactly, and it is us IFA firms that have to pick up the tab when unscrupulous SIPP firms accept this garbage. Harlequin is a perfect case in point. The SIPP firms knew that the SIPPS would need to borrow to complete but did not check that the borrowing was within SIPP borrowing limits. Total due diligence failure.
