I invested in 2 storage pods at Glasgow Airport from Store First about two and a half years ago. The first two years I was paid the promised rate of return.
Last month (October 2015) I got a letter from the management saying it had changed hands, and basically I would only receive rent if the pods were rented.
Latest letter says the tenant has relinquished his lease.
No rent has been forthcoming- due last month, but I have had a bill for the ground lease.
Living in New Zealand, and with the rate of exchange being 43p to the NZ dollar, with all the legal costs and the endless hassles of trying to manage this so called wonderful investment, sadly I realise that if it seems to good to be true- it sure is.
So much for a little extra in retirement.
Very disillusioned.

Says 'once storefirst goes in to liquidation' not that it has. Going in to liquidation to get out of a jam is Toby Whittakers business model

Yes i know what it says ,but who is suggesting that storefirst is going into liquidation  because if it does it could bring his entire rotten empire down ,in some ways that could be good for capita oak members.

The Ssa prognosis with only 14% take up on rentals. They recon 40% as a break even for storage companies.

Would also say he should be charged under Poca for all the misdirection and lies he fed people to get them to invest in the pods

Occupany? How can he afford to pay the staff who run the storage facilities? He isn't making money from the people using the pods, his money is made from the ground rents

Look at his accounts and you will see .In my opinion he could be charged with financial deception as without doubt that is what he has committed.

Doesn't advertise, Google self storage. It was only ever designed to get money from investors, why have the hassle of running a storage company. Easier money to be had .

That something companies house should pick up on? I have and I hope others follow me and report store first to trading standards. I did notice that he has a few outstanding charges in companies that have been dissolved

Forget the above normal insurance from the 'in house' outfit.

With respect if you look back on this site over recent months you were advisedto contact the official receiver en bloc.

He overpaid and all he got was his own money back for two years, it was not rent. Then the excuses come as to lack of rent. Same ol same ol.

What people don't realise, the guaranteed two year rent is from the initial investment; it's the same for store first and park first

Needs to be stopped, he has ruined so many lives not just through capita oak but through his agents who have pulled in unsuspecting individual investors; agents who are not qualified to give financial advice yet claim to deal in financial management.
