- magsThis number just rang and hung up on my husband. Cold callers are getting on my nerves now, if he was the suspicious type a call like that could cause all kinds of problems! It is time the government stepped in here and put an end to cold calling once and for all!
- Caller: unknown
- angryscotsmanwow 32 pages of comments about this number! One of the biggest I've seen on this site.
This number is ringing me 4 or 5 times a day for the past few days. caller id is on my phone so I dont bother answering until i check it out on whocallsme.com ;-)
My home phone is little more than a marketing tool now for malicious scammers and unwelcome cold callers, in the last couple of years its got a lot worse despite getting a new bt phone number, Yes Im ex-directory and on TPS.
So i wonder what large ''respectable'' and seemingly ''trustworthy'' company is selling all our home phone numbers (and names/addresses too!)
I think TALK TALK have something to do with this. (i mean the bigger picture of peddling your details to third parties). I was with tiscali from about 2004 had no probs then talk talk bought the company and took over my account, all of a sudden the phone is buzzing with cold callers and scammers.- Caller: someone who's up to no good i bet
- McLovin| 1 replyYep. Just had a call from them asking to speak to 'Tom Paratt' and saying that my number was regestered to an address in Connaught Street, Cromer. Never been there and don't even know anybody called Tom Pratt. My number must have mysteriously made it's way onto a list somewhere as I got a call from the charity 'Concern' yesterday asking for some woman. This has all started happening since I got a call from a council registered number saying that I owed £2000 for claiming carers benefit that I wasn't entitled to plus £150 overpayment of housing benefit (which was correct) They obviously got the info from the council and when I asked for the name of who I was meant to be claiming housing benefit for they said they didn't have any of the details,. I rang the council who had no record of this then rang the number back and they said they couldn't do anything about it and it would have to 'go to appeal' and that I would get a letter. A couple of months later the council rang regarding the £150 but not the rest (although the guy said he was from 'census'? who dealt with the debts. Anyway, the reason I'm writing all this is just in case anybody else here has owed their council money - As possibly this could be where your number gets onto these lists. i.e. via the debt company they use. I'd read unpleasant things about the people who rang me for the £2000 on either this site or one like it.

- McLovin replies to McLovinSorry, that should have been 'Tom Pratt' - Details are important as it helps to expose their patterns as it were.
- Shaggy1These swines have been pestering me for a month. Unfortunaltely I signed the first lot of forms they sent me and sent them back. About a week ago they sent another form to sign and a letter asking me for a credit card statement so they could verify my account number. I only realised after I sent the statement they didn't have my account number, so I contacted my bank immediately and cancelled both my credit and debit cards. My bank has confirmed that CAG has not contacted them and told me they won't deal with them.
I have written to them and cancelled my agreement with them I only hope they don't try and charge me for it as I am unemployed and on a DMP all of which they have somehow managed to find out about, and the bank account which they have the details for is not active it has been suspended unitl I pay off the arrears.
I have since received another batch of forms which I haven't signed and sent back and have no intention of doing so. I received another form this morning to fill in, sign and send, which I have not filled in, but I have signed F U C Koff. Lol.
Don't know why they keep sending me forms a bloody nuisance.- Caller: Claims Advisory Group

- Shaggy1CAG entered administration in may due to the mountain of claims they were unable to deal with.
Are they allowed to cold call people and send claims packs out if they can't process the claims and provide the service they are charging for.- Caller: Claims Advisory Group

- carolineI have just had this number call. going on about a loan and could they have my bank details. you must be careful as there is always someone out there to fall for it. best way to deal with them is answer a load of rubbish, like your loan is from a bank in Switzerland. blah blah....
- MitchamMaliceAfter politely asking them to remove my number and they didnt I would recomend wasting their time and getting on there nerves, I do this by hijacking their conversation and just talk stupidity like you are some red neck [***], ask them random questions, like whats the weather like in manchester, did they see eastenders last night, im going to have fish fingers for my dinner today, what are they going to have? its my aunti Marys birthday today do they have an aunte Mary, if not whats their auntie called and when is it her birthday? they cant get rid of you quick enough and its a good laugh especially if you do it on speaker phone with all your mates listening / laughing out loud! try it at least once!

- Ronni UsborneIt's a company telling you that you may be liable for compensation following a High Court ruling against the banks. They called us and there was no-one at the end. I did 1471 and got their number - very rude man would only speak to my husband but when I passed the phone across to him there was no-one there. he called them back and did manage to talk to a supervisor who wouldn't tell him where they'd got our number from. Very suspicious.

- MarkI just got a call from them. It seems that I owed them 1500 quid for the insurance on a loan or something I didn't let it get that far into the conversation when I hadd to say twice I've never taken out a loan then they ended the conversation. I've just noticed that this page has been going on since last year. How come the police haven't done anything about their scams or fraud schemes?

Do not give CAG any of your personal or bank details, and do not sign and send back any forms they send you.
DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY (CLAIMS ADVISORY GROUP) THEY ARE A BUNCH OF SCAMMERS WHO JUST WANT YOUR MONEY.- Caller: Claims Advisory Group

- Customer Service SpecialistNever worked for this company but I worked very very briefly for a similar company, CAG are one of a number of companies pulling the same trick, IF and I stress if they can help you claim money back then you need to ask what are they doing for their fee? The answer is not a lot, if you have concerns relating to a possible PPI claim then it may be worth speaking to your bank manager or another profesional body.
I also see people are concerned with how these companies are getting their personel information. As I'm sure most will know your information is usually sold to these companies by many different companies, EG catologues, telecom providers and many more, just make sure when signing up to anything you tell the them you don't want your information being passed on, some may even ask you to put that in writing.
The other most common way is by vsisiting comparison websites, at the bottom of the page you makes sure you read any terms or statements whcih you are asked to tick or untick as this is their permission to pass info on, and be careful because different sites do it different ways some say tick to hear about whatever and some say untick to opt out of hearing about whatever.
If peoples problems still persist with these people then contact the Telephone Preference Service, you may need to write to the company and explain that you are on the TPS but by law they have to remove your details and shouldn't be able to contact you again.
As for the post I read relating to the use of an air horn I must implore people not to do this, if you were to cause harm to any advisor from any organisation you could face prosecution and liable for damages because although they have no moral right to contact you they have a legal right. From experience of these sort of compnaies I would advise not to be abusive to advisors form these dsrt of firms its not uncommon for advisors to throw the information back onto a a dialer or the worng box ticked by mistake on the screen.
Hope this helps- Caller: 01614781190
