you need to speak to your solicitor, possibly trading standards (in Manchester) may have a view. if a contract has unfair T&Cs, a court of law could cancel it. from reading previous posts, seems unlikely "gary" or "marcus" or "nadine" would venture out into the harsh light of scrutiny? u could just tell 'em to foxtrot-oscar and see what happens next?
also, inform them politely, by registered post, that with immediate effect any future written correspondence or telephone/email contact will incur your firm's hourly rate of £300 per hour, or any part thereof, (plus your reasonable expenses including any and all legal fees incurred) and that their next contact will be deemed full acceptance of these terms, payable in advance. ie they must send your firm a cheque, which you will wait to be cleared, then you will consider your reply. should your research take longer than one hour, or incur additional costs, then further payment will be required before you issue a reply.
oh, don't be bullied by these crooks. bullies are only successful if victims are cowed by them and don't stand up to the plate.

TO ANGRY LADY, RIP ME OFF and BOB :  Don't be afraid of the threats from SJ Associates and the like - they are empty.  This happened to me last year but I smelt a 'rat' as soon as they wrote to me to say that the Valuation Office had turned down my appeal.  Despite being very sorry about this (yeah right) they were delighted to tell me that I would need to pay them 2.5% of the rateable value until 2022.  So money for nothing.  I came on this forum and posted my dilemma (see page 15 onwards) and Justice for Victims (his moniker at the time) helped me out no end.  He guided me through the process of sending them a letter, what to say and how to do it and lo and behold - REFUND and CANCELLED contract!  Whoop whoop!  I too reported the company to Trading Standards and the Insolvency Agency.  I know that Trading Standards for that area are actually investigating SJ Associates.  Its only a matter of time before something is done about them.  They are conning the small business owner out of hard earned cash - for absolutely nothing in return.  Justice for Victims (who you will identify if you read the forum from my earlier posts forward) is really helpful, despite the b*ll/s he has to put up with from SJ Associates who use this board to spy on us.  Do what I did - pop your post code on here and he'll get back to you ... all the valuation office information is in the public domain anyway.  It makes no odds.  JUST DON'T LET THESE PEOPLE BULLY YOU.  That's all it is - bully boy tactics.  Do what I did and stand your ground.  Justice for Victims and I took part in a Radio 5 Live debate about this last year...its a real issue and you need to speak out against these companies and get them stopped.

I had the same threatning calls/ reminder letters. They have to date not sent any reminder letters or solictors letters after my letter to there offices. If they want to go court which I doubt it, If the w.....rs want to take me to court they are welcome. Under no circumstances do not pay then anything - I for one will not pay them a bean, and probably would welcome going to court as I would highlight it in the local press and local BBC news.what a bunch of crooks they are. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE IN !!!!

They won't take you to court - because they will not win. It's all just hot-air and bullying tactics to try and scare people into paying them for a service that only benefits them. They are scammers, so they would not want the extra attention a court case could bring. Laugh at them and put the phone down on them - that's my advice.

If they had such a strong case I am sure if they reputable I would be in court !!!!! If you pay these lying cheating [***] then they win. Has this company actually taken anyone to court?.I suspect the answer will be NO.
These sort of people rely on fear to extract money from people. These people should not be paid a penny under any circumstances .I suspect they will not willingly go to court as the bad publicity and negative exposure would attract to much attention from trading standards etc.

Its the insolvency agency they should be worried about. Also to the best of my knowledge they have taken nobody to court.Would you if less than ten percent of your appeals failed. The question you should ask is why they have never been to valuation tribunal?
