WE ALL NEED TO STICK TOGETHER ON THESE [removed:lang], THE PRICK IS CALLED MATTHEW BROWN WHO DOES THE RINGING BACK OR THATS HIS NAME AT PRESENT, CAN ANYBODY THING OF ANYONE CARING TO LOOK UP THIS QUITE OBSCURE SITE  "WHO CALLS ME" TO ACTUALLY SAYING ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS SHAM OF A COMPANY, OTHER THAN THE  [removed:lang] THAT  ARE RUNNING IT, LETS NOT BE POLITE WHEN THEIR CALLS AND THREATS  COME THROUGH, STICK TOGETHER  AND ALL CONTACT TRADING STANDARDS AS CLOSE TO THERE ADDRESS AS WE CAN, AS ANYONE NOTICED YET THAT THIS PHONE NUMBER WE HAVE TRACED IS NOT ON THEIR WEBSITE, WHICH TELLS ME THIS IS ONLY THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG OF MANY PEOPLE ARE BEEN AFFECTED, STICK TOGETHER AND WHEN THE THREATNEND COURT CASES START WE CAN ALL BE WITNESS'ES TO ONE ANOTHER,

Ill be contacting trading standards tomorrow or monday, these guys are not getting a penny! PLEASE name and shame the MD or high level people within this company, provide car registrations, addresses, ANYTHING as long as its accurate. The only way i can find out real details is probably through a court case... So anyone whose taken them to court OR x-employees give us the info, cos i would like to cause discomfort to these people, im sure someone will leave the firm on bad terms and spill the beans!

I hope the real charlatans who sit above the people just doing a job sleep well knowing that many people are seeking action that will directly effect people at the top and their families.

Something similar is happening to us and they are threatening legal action. What did you do?

we have just been caught out with the same con, s j associates, very high pressure to sign up, dont fall into this trap, they sent a back dated invoice and the next day sent another invoice with intrest added for late payment, there is no reasoning with them, very nasty people.

be warned... run the other way fast!  So rude, so disgusting comments, who is the boss/ bosses of this ltd company, am making a call to companies house to see if there is anything they can do to help, or perhaps offer some advice and will contact trading standards ... is anyone on here still having dealings with them, and if they threatened court action, have they taken it?

am at wits end with disgusting phone calls from these people, can anyone help with their own situation in relation to mine, we are all experiencing the same threatening stuff but i cannot find out much info about the company, company house is next step as they are uk ltd, established in 2009

like you guys we too have had a ridiculously rude series of calls with this company! I am gonna have to get in contact with trading standards myself but as the previous posts suggest, I don't know how far this is gonna get me! I do however have a few ideas that hopefully with your help may shed at least a little light on how we can resolve this problem.
I have 3 pieces of documentation from this company a letter, a "welcome" pack?! and unfortunatly a contract!.
LETTER - 1>the letter states that the fee is only payable once a suryeror has visited the premesis. So far a surveyor has not been round to visit!      2> It says if the valuation office rejects our appeal we will not be liable to pay the fee and therefore no fee! So as it says in the contract I myself cannot do this nor an employee I was gonna try and get someone else to retract this appeal on my behalf that is nothing to do with the company!
"WELCOME PACK" - 1> it states that if you are a small business you can apply to be part of a small business rate relief scheme. I'm not sure but i think that would then surely lower the fee because the rateable value would have been decreased.    
"CONTRACT" (MY A**E!) - 1> It says that we have signed for them to act on our behalf for appeals against the rating lists for 2010, 2015 and 2020 so does that then mean we will get charged the fee every 5 years?     2> it states that the fee covers: the admin, the survey and the negotiation PLUS a comission based on 1 years reduction in the rateable value for the premesis - How can they calculate this percentage of the reduction if they haven't even found out what the reduction is yet?????    3> the contract says "I confirm I will not act on my own behalf in connection with the specified services" - Is this even allowed? surely I have the right to do whatever i want? also, why can't I just get somebody else to cancel it (even from my own company because it only states "I" and in their terms and conditions it says the "client" covers everyone in the company and "I" is not the same as "Client"?   4> In the terms & conditions it says "Reduction" means the difference between the rateable value of a property according to the rating list against which an appeal is made on behalf of the client and the rateable value of the property is achieved as a result of the appeal by S.J. Associates (UK) Ltd on behalf of the client. - Therefore, how can this be decided BEFORE the appeal has been made? Also, if no appeal has been made previously 25% of a 0% reduction equals £0!!! So, surely we are only required to pay the fee for admin as NO NEGOTIATION and NO SURVEYING has been undertaken!!  5> It states that the percentage of 25% of the difference in rateable value is inclusive in the fee BUT THEN in the terms & conditions it states that this fee will be subsiquently charged to us if a decision is reached that the rateable value will be decreased - HOW IS THAT INCLUSIVE???? 6> It states that if we cancel the contract we will have to pay 2.5% of the rateable value of the property according to the relavant rating list. (So, if rateable value = £12000 then we only have to pay £240 which is a lot less than the £600 odd fee they are trying to get out of everyone!!!) However, it does state that the contract can only be cancelled in writing from us and in written aggreement of S.J. A**EOSSIATES!!!!   7> under "Variation" in the contract it states that neither the company nor the client shall be bound by ANY variation to or waiver of these conditions except as agreed by both parties in writing and signed on their behalf by duly authorised representatives. - We have had a phone conversation with them and in that call the guy said he was going to waiver the fee until we had seen some figures proving that a saving could be made. also the man who came to get us to sign the contract said this also so surely they themselves have breached their own contract!!!!   8> it states under "Representation " in the contract that the companies officer, employees or agents are not authorised to make ANY representations concerning the services to be supplied under this contract unless the same are confirmed by the company in writing (we have never received any of these "promises" they made to us verbally in writing!!!! Also it states that they will waive any claim in breach of any such representation which have not been confirmed (so AGAIN they have breached their OWN contract!!!! DUMB OR WHAT!!!!) so they therefore breached their contract by sending us the first letter where it states there will be no fee until the survey has been completed and then stating in the contract that we are liable to pay the fee BEFORE the survey has been completed.
FINALLY i am going to ask for a breakdown of the costs and dispute absolutely EVERYTHING with them and be as much of a pain in the [***] to them as they have been to us!!!!!
Nearly forgot! it also states that "any proposals raised under this aggreement will be dealt with solely by S.J. A**eociates (UK) Ltd or cancelled solely at the discression of S.J. A**efaceociates (UK) Ltd ,so, if ANY third parties have been used by them then again they have not stuck to their terms and conditions!!!!!!!

I don't know if any of this is going to help me bring down these money grabbing cowboys but i'm sure as hell (with the help of as many trading standards agencies i can find!!!!) gonna try and cause them as much mental anguish as they are causeing me, my partner and my family!

Very rude woman rang up from this company asked to speak to one of the directors saying that they could reduce commercial rates, we appeal ourselves and she said she could not see our appeal on the records, the directors have told me that we have a zero tolerance on the rates cold calls, woman then talked over what I was saying and hung up. A VERY RUDE AND NASTY COMPANY THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS - APPEAL ON YOUR RATES YOURSELF!!!

SJ associates Paragon house...Check out Mr Terence McKenzie and Ms Nadine Wordon...Their rep mis sold it to me now a nice!!!! mr Jason Stapleton has threatened to Bankrupt me....Even though gauranteed me a result greater than their fee he now tells me that their Rep "Laura" had no right to say that..it`s going to be your word against theirs i`m afraid ..quote mispresentation act 1997 and take it to the small claims...also everyone contact Trading standards  ..they are starting a case

we sent s.j associates an email to ask them for a list of names of the directors and satisfied  customers and they couldn't they said they hadn't got one  we spoke to someone on the phone and they couldn't remember if there name was matt or Andrew brown.we have sent an email to BBC watchdog about theses people an we are just waiting for a reply.they are just a bunch of crooks so be aware and don't be intimidated by them

They are CON people. They always call you with a Private number and never leave any messages. I'm not gonna pay em. How can you pay someone without any jobs being done, that's pathetic! Whats the guarantee that they will reduce the rates lol. No guarantee. Please don't trust them, they are here to scare you, don't get fooled. I myself is avoiding this Mr Brown aka Mathew Brown. He is such a rude men. He thinks his a top dog lol. DON'T TRUST THIS MAN MR BROWN. He is here to kill your money for sure!
