Interesting - the home energy advice line - another quango type organisation leaching millions out of the government. maybe if these people actually worked for their money instead of taking freebies from the rest of us then making our lives misery !

Had 2 calls from this but they are now blocked and given a "This number is no longer in use" type message.
As part of my previous employment I was contracted to set up 3 call centers in and around Glasgow/Lanarkshire. All 3 companies are now closed, they went in to liquidation.
Here's how it works:
1) The call center buys 100's or 1000's of number from a 'data provider' which they then feed in to their database to call.
2) TPS does you no good. The call center can receive TPS lists which is basically a list of names of people/numbers you shouldn't be phoning to sell products/services to. This can be easily be ignored and usually is.
3) if you tell them you are TPS, they will mark it in their database so as not to call you again. However, once they have called all the numbers in their database, the database is cleaned and sold on to someone else. ie. they remove any TPS marks or 'not interested' marks.
4) The database they sell has been updated by calling you and saying is 'Mr Thingie' there? If you say no and say he hasn't lived here for x years or whatever, they'll ask if you can give them your details to update the records and ensure you are no longer bothered by them. Don't give them anything. Also, asking to be removed from their list usually means you won't be called by them again but when they sell the database your name is given to someone else.
5) Once they've exhausted their database, they'll sometimes clean the data again and change their company name (not officially and they never give you their real name anyway) so they can call all the numbers again.
6) They often have multiple legal, official companies as part of a parent company. The parent company makes all the money and hires the directors, managers, etc. they then have a call center company where all the agents are either employed through or contracted through. Quite often the agents are self-employed, it keeps blame away from the call center or parent company and keeps costs down. The sales department, surveyors, fitters, etc are all seperate companies quite often under the same roof and usually 1 or 2 people per company.

My Job was to install the computers, telephones, servers etc that they used both for their business and the call center side. After seeing how the business operates I decided I no longer wanted to work with them. I was also told by one of their 'managers' that their last set up had it's equipment confiscated by Trading Standards which is why my company had to purchase new equipment for them. The last work I did for them was never paid for by them. I lost 100's of £'s.

Energy co-operative.  Asked what type of heating system I have as I qualify for something or other.  I politely said it was none of their business.

Called at 7pm and are now changed back to energy resource uk and looking for people that moved out 6 years ago.

They better not call again because I made at plain as day that I'm on tps and don't deal with cold callers.

Answered the call, heard the usual call centre noises, then it went quiet, so just placed the phone down on the table, and walked away. 5 minutes later and they had hung up. Nice to get your own back ;) Caller now blocked.

Fed up this crowd phone from 8am till 8pm 4 or times a day

Keep getting this number when I dial 1471.

Scottish accented sales woman. Asked to be removed from data base - not for the first time.
