GET CALLER DISPLAY AND IGNORE THEM

The best thing to do with these calls is to ignore the first one - then Google the number to find out who they are. Then store the number in your phone so you know it's them when they call again. Now here comes the funny part....when they call again, answer the phone with "Good afternoon, Ellsworth Associates (or whatever the company name is)". Make sure you say it VERY CLEARLY so the moron making the call thinks he/she has misdialled his own office number...

i have had the same, they ring , when u ansa they go quiet and u can hear music and muffled talking in the backround. have blocked this number several times, and some how they change the number slightly and get through the bar ??  this is becoming a real newsence  as when they ring they wake my baby and dont even have the decency to even talk????

have been receiving several phone calls a week from this company and today i told them that i would be phoning the police if they continue. there is supposed to be a block on my phone to stop this kind of call and i was told that it could only prevent calls placed in uk. this company is calling from uk and phone my number constantly. what can be done?

just keeps ringing and hanging up

just had a call from 01254368742 rang them back ellworth assosiates but couldn't give a reason why they had rung me UNLESS I COULD CONFIRM MY MOBILE NUMBER

hi I did work for a company on behalf of elsworth and here is some advise on how to deal wih these companies. they use an automated dialler so if u don't answer then it phones back that's why u can get 4-5 calls aday so answer the phone. the person who answers doesn't know if u have been rung before as it does t show on screen . DON'T abuse the person as this gurantees a call back but ask nicely and they will remove ur details. remember the person ur speaking to is Low paid and problely doesn't like there job but where we are based there are very little jobs currently available and they are only doing this to pay the bill!. if your ring back the person who answers doesn't have your details in front of them, so if u abuse them and hang up they can't stop the calls instead give them your number and ask to be taken of the dialler they will do this as they don't want to ring irrate people

Fill out the form on the Information Commissioners Office website:- http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspx click on the please tell us about it link and fill out as much as you can, the ICO will then take a look and liase with the Ministry Of Justice and the Office of Fair Trading.

It states on the MOJ website that using a Claims Management Compay will NOT increase your chances of a successful claim, so do not waste money employing one of these cowboy companies, do it yourself there is plenty of information on the internet and FSA website to help you and you get to keep 100% of the refund.

Complaining to the ICO obviously works because the ICO are monitoring Elsworth Associates. (The **** are mine!)

We’re aware of some companies making sales calls to people, even those on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS).

Live calls
Live calls are unsolicited direct marketing calls received by consumers from a real live person.

We have been working closely with other regulators, such as Ofcom, the TPS, The Office of Fair Trading, trading standards and the Ministry of Justice to coordinate our enforcement action.

We have analysed data collected from consumers and have identified organisations that cause us concern. The data was collected from complaints to the ICO and TPS.

Between July and September we contacted a number of organisations to address concerns about compliance with the following results:

Claims Advisory Group Ltd - a meeting took place and an improvement plan was introduced;
EMC Advisory Services Ltd - reviewed all processes and contracts and have provided the ICO with relevant information;

Consumer Money Matters Ltd and Elsworth Associates Ltd - concerns regarding source for data and consent have been addressed.

Although we have not ruled out further action to address specific consumer concerns, these organisations have provided a level of assurance about their activities and we are monitoring their compliance.

Scottish Power

These companies have assured us they are working to address these concerns, and we expect to see improvements in the coming months.

We are investigating three other companies which we have prioritised for consideration of enforcement action. We are not identifying these companies now, as that could jeopardise our investigations and evidence gathering.

The main sectors responsible for generating complaints about unsolicited live calls are home improvement, claims management, direct marketing and utilities.
