Got call from a male (English accent) asking for my friend's wife by name. I replied that she was not available and would he like to leave a message but he just hung up. I checked this site then called the number. The phone was answered by a female with a South African accent. The company appears to be FIRST CALL. The female went on to say that their records show I qualified for ... I stopped the conversation, thanked her for her time and ended the call.

Had a call yesturday and then found from here not to call it back or answer it.  Thanks guys and gals

Received a call 11th Jan. I picked up, did not say anything - there was silence from the other end. I said 'hello' - whoever it was hung up.

Foreign sounding call centre.
Asked to speak to my dad who died in July. Then mum, also dead. My partner said that the daughter (me) would ring if they gave him the number when she got back. They refused. 1471 gave this number.
We are registered with Telephone Preferences but will just ignore this call.

Got a message from this, answered and nobody was at the other end.  Could hear it was some type of call centre from noises in background.

just had a call from this number but i ignored it but ten mins before my mum had one of these calles along the same lines but from a diff fone number we will both be ignoringing these kinds of numbers from now on

Was called by this number today.  No people on the other end, but nosies  which sounded like heavy machinery in the background with much interference.  It took several seconds, and many pressings of the receiver to disconnect  this call and re-establish our dialling tone.

If anyone has any sway with these people.... PLEASE ask them to STOP.

This number keeps calling , even though im registered with the telephone preference agency ,no idea who I dont answer

This number rang, the answermachine answered, and I had a 10 minute message of them shouting hello? hello? at the machine and I could hear them calling other people.

Received a call last night from a lady with an accent. When I asked who was calling she said it was to help with PPI. I said I hadn't paid any PPI and suggested she had the wrong number and I hang up

Don't get mad, get even:
1. if not already done, must get registered with Telephone Preference Service - takes a while (up to 2 or 3 months) for everything to work through system to eliminate bulk of marketeers, but eliminates a goodly number of cr@p callers
2. if you then still get these tiresome calls:
a. try to get caller's full details & then report to TPS - if it's a UK-based company, they can be fined/struck off
b. when - usually - they persist, be polite - "they" are just doing "a job", after all, but prepare a list of questions to find out who they REALLY are: e.g. full name, where they are, whom they claim to represent, THEIR contact info, including home/mobile numbers & e-mail (including their supervisors/Directors) and when will be the LEAST convenient time to call THEM back etc etc (actually, you can pick up a loan application form from many high street banks that gives a good idea of the type of info that really hacks all of us off)
or, just say,
"My - wife/husband/partner/brother/sister/flatmate etc etc - deals with this; I'll just fetch them."
Then go and get and make a cup of tea/coffee/whatever & when you come back, I'll BET they're not still on the line.  They will also be hammered by their line manager for failing to reach "target"; but hey, they took the job.

blackfive: this sounds an awesome way for a "get-our-own-back" good time - just wishing I had the same chance with the free-calls bit, but gr8 eye-dee-ah!  Upsetting our nearest & dearest is just NOT ON.  Then realised tho', I got UNLIMITED weekend calls on BT; now when shall I start .... hmmm.  This will be one for your Mum, & everyone like her.

I don't believe that TPS is effective (or even claims to be) with calls originating outside UK. I am registered but still get some calls obviously from Indian subcontinent. Whatever you do some calls will always get through.

Received a call from 02070603887 a the caller stated that I was entitled to a refund from a payment protection plan and then requested bank details. When challenged and asked for company details the caller hung up.
This is undoubtedly a scam organisation and all calls from this number should be ended.

They ring me every day asking for Mr Keenan.  I tell every day I have never heard of him. Sometimes they hang up. Sometimes they try and find out who I am but I have learn never to give anybody your information over the phone.  If I sound annoyed they just hang up but it has become very irritating . They ring so often we now guess whether it is for us or Mr Keenan before we pick up

Above number has called my elderly mother a number of times over last two weeks. Nobody has spoken just loud music and lots of background noise.

Rang off as soon as we picked up the phone

Keeps calling and when answered there is no reply and phone put down on me

This number is harrassing me. They phone me every single day. When I answer, I can hear someone breathing and moving around but they never speak. This is quite scary and I wish they would stop. If they are just a scam or a marketing call, why do they not talk to me when I can clearly hear that they are on the other end? This is weird behaviour.

i never answer this as i dont recognise the number. may i suggest everyone do the same?!!!!!!
