Valais Investment Management Sàrl
Listed on Devere funds page: https://www.devere-group.com/fundhouses/ValaisInvestmentManagementSarL.aspx
Swiss commercial registry entry lists Mr Green as a partner: http://zefix.admin.ch/zfx-cgi/hrform.cgi/hraPage?language=4&amt=007
From Devere site:
"Valais Investment Management SarL - http://www.valais-investments.com
Valais Investment Management SarL aims to deliver the performance that meets the financial objectives of its clients, whilst reducing the volatility of their portfolios. You can expect a highly personalised service through Valais Investment Management SarL; a service that can be defined as both its priority and specificity." - OLd Bloke replies to UnknownUnkown
Valid points. The contract is not worth the paper it is written on legally as it will not really be possible to sue in a foreign country with a contarct that is written to English law. You will never go anywhere with that. - Old Bloke replies to DeVere CompilationThe group is registered out of Nevis so all the UK searching aint going to show you anything at all. Look up Nevis structures online. This is not a UK enterprise so do not waste your time. there is a Uk bit for UK business and FSA regs but the rest is a long way away. Swiss rules are much more relaxed and no too many questions are asked, in fact I undertook my training in Zurich when Nig was living close by.
- Old Bloke replies to YorkshireladThe Swiss set up was altered quite a lot in 2008 you need to check the Canton registers, the strucures were quite weak.
Nevis is a [***] little island with bearer shares, no public registers and nominee directors, this is not usual. If the owner is non res or non dom UK or travelling res then the UK is not that important.
In Switzerland the rules are quite tight so you need a permit really or you can just go commando. If you want to find out more just ring Royal Skandia in the Isle of Man or Generali in Guernsey and ask who DVP are! - Old Bloke replies to Yorkshirelad| 1 replyIt's a fund of funds, and you point is what. If the money is managed in a structure it means very little and could be a good fund, but I have never heard of it.
Structres are good (or bad) as they can hide loads of front end, ongoing and tail end fees, commission to you and I, sometimes as much as 8-10%. Guess who always wins!? - Seo Optimisation| 1 replyThanks! Well done chaps. So it looks like the moral of the story is "Steer clear of Devere"

Maybe yes or maybe no as per older posts. I appreciate that people want to dig to find stuff, but that is really hard. The posters here have either not worked for DVP or like me have not had a great experience, i.e. most have failed. The guys that actually make it work do not bother posting as they are making money.
Interestingly Dubai and the UAE which were DVP strongholds have new cold calling laws coming in relating to some financial services so that I feel would make it very hard to get started in those areas.
Europe has always been difficult as employment laws and staff structures for expats are already quite strong.
The selling or miss selling of QROPS (off shoring UK and anor pensions) is also under review by HMRC and DVP were early into that market with far east baased solutions which now do not look very good. - Old Bloke replies to NJG| 4 repliesNJG
I agree with what you say but in fact not many succeed. Products are fine, knowledge is very poor, ethics very poor. A role should be good for the client and good for the worker, in a lot of cases with DVP this is not actually the case. - Yuri replies to Old Bloke| 3 replies@ Old Bloke
Hi, we need your help to establish if Pension Backed Loans are a scam in the UK? Not sure if Devere do them but they seem to a touch subject in the UK. The thread is below. Your advice welcomed. Thank you!

Very weird, never seen anything like that and as the cash amount you can take out of any pension lump sum is currently 25% max it seems most odd. They cannot take a charge over a pension fund from an individual. They make no mention of an FSA registration or a CCL licence, but there seems talk of a master pension plan transfer. Transfer to me means kiss of death as you should be able to rejig within an existing scheme.
I can see that they may lend unsecured but against future pension income but not that.
That being said it might be legit and I cannot say 100% that it is not. - Yuri replies to Old Bloke| 1 replyThank you, Old Bloke!
It is very kind of you to take the time to write back and advise. I will ignore them.
Happy Easter!

Often best to do nothing if something does not sound right. Pension are for long term and eventual income purposes not for anything else. The days of pension mortgages went in the 1980's and they were a silly idea then, look at it now or look back and how wrong they were. - Yorkshirelad replies to Old BlokeThe point is that if Devere's owner is a partner in Valais Investment Management Sàrl and United Asset Management, as shown by the Swiss commercial register, and if Devere is promoting the funds sold by these companies, as shown by the Devere site, this suggests that there's a conflict of interests.
- Yorkshirelad| 10 repliesIf there is a conflict of interests, it wouldn't be the first time, judging from this:

E-mail: deverebritex@yahoo.com
Old Provincial is owned by Mark Reed and Michael Dunlavy, both Britex Directors. Promoted by DeVere and Partners who used to be ... Britex International.
Take a unit trust / mutual fund, add an extra layer of charges for Michael, another for Mark, another for Nigel Green, and another for Britex / DeVere. Then sell it though an offshore portfolio bond to get double commissions!" - Timbo replies to Yorkshirelad| 9 repliesIs there any connection between the plethora of Devere DVP companies and AWD Chase De Vere in Manchester? Looking into a job up there but don't want to work for a bunch of...Any Mancurians, around?
Thanks! - JCarter| 6 repliesI am interested in getting into this industry and have a question for the Andrew Schreiber who posted here recently (post has since disappeared). He said that he had worked for Devere for a few years, had a good experience with them as a competitive and successful company, and was now having success running his own company. According to his profile (http://ch.linkedin.com/pub/andrew-schreiber/6/89/41), he's an independent financial planning and investment consultant.
What does it take to be successful at Devere and then go on to run a successful financial consultancy? - OLd Bloke replies to Timbo| 8 repliesTimbo
No not in any way, although Devere does now have a UK operation based out of Knightsbridge, don't know anything about that I am afraid. - ExDevere replies to JCarter| 4 repliesYou want to succeed at Devere?
• always appear professional
• always appear honest
• learn the financial jargon
• be one step ahead of the client
• choose easy clients, esp. investment novices (easier to convince) and singles (easier to persuade one person than two)
• tune in to your client (learn their needs/wants so that you can convince them that your chosen product – the product best for you – is best for them too)
• sometimes give the client genuine advice (mix it up – makes the other kind of advice go down easier)
• learn to deflect awkward questions
• create a plausible background story, if necessary (e.g. say you worked for RBS, Deloitte, TSB, etc. whatever sounds good)
• keep your eye on the sale
Remember: always appear professional, honest, friendly (cannot stress this enough)

I have since come across quite a few negative reports about the Carrington Carr - Chase De Vere entities mentioning regulation breaches and fines etc so won't pursue.
