Salesman I can't really answer that as I do not follow their progress really that much. The middle East was always a prime area but that has changed and is well established. Europe is going through a lot of changes and I think that regulation will affect that as well. There is some benefit in going to a new office as the population will not have heard of them so bad news will be limited (and it's not all bad news).

Another point is in some locations you can deal with the locals as well as the expats, but..... will the locals want to deal with a foreigner?

Sorry not been much help really!

Jimmy, you really have bought into The Nigel Green Spiv dream haven't you ? You clearly seem to have made your mind up, yet keep coming back to the 'what do guys think ?' Question. You either don't believe previous posts on here , or haven't read them. There are sufficient 'horror' stories from those have worked with DVP. There is of course an element of sour grapes in some posts, but they deliver a cautionary warning to those that saw what DVP was, and were treated poorly as a result

Are you really considering arranging your own visa by sacrificing your life's savings, on a whim ? Wouldn't you expect a reputable company to arrange a visa fior you ( except that a US visa under these circumstances is IMPOSSIBLE to obtain via DVP.)

You like thousands of others will spend a fortune getting to your location, and work your butt off.If you don't write business in 3 weeks you will be treated like a w-anker, if it takes another 3 weeks they will sap your self esteem and  make you feel 'inadequate' for not doing so. Eventually they will say ' You're not for us ' , or you'll pack up and fly home without telling them. It is a high pressure sales environment, no time for networking and building up a client bank , that takes years. YOU will have to write business within a few weeks and close deals on the scond client visit ( I wouldn't buy any investment on a second meeting ... i would require more time and 95 per cent of people would also ).

Your E2 investment visa would permit you to work in your wife's business , nowhere else. Your wife will have to employ a minimum of 3 people ( i think it may well be 5 , not sure though ), pay the National Insurances ( equivalent ) state taxes, Medicare ( possibly ) , Federal taxes, rent , etc etc ...and if your business fails to make a working profit in 2 - 3 years , you are on the plane back home !

If you are so disbelieving of some posters on here , and have swallowed Greens  claims, then my advice, head to somewhere not too far from home, see how the DVP 'factory' works , and then come home having maybe lost 10 grand or so and alot of dignity and self respect.

    Think it over please.

Nemesis and Jimmy in response to the post to Jimmy, not sure about US Visa etc. but comments are entirely fair and more likely the outcome. Good suggestion about trying more local but costs etc. will also run away with you.

The only point I would make is that it is very unlikely but it might just work say a 5% chance. I was chatting to some guys yesterday that have managed 2 years with DVP, but all are fed up and just about making ends meat, but nobody wants to stay with them, trouble is they are all about the same.

I saw a note from Guardian a DVP competitor saying they wanted business in the UAE to be regulated to keep out bad IFA's and "trippers" from outside. From what I have seen from ex GN clients and others that have worked for GN I think thats a bit rich. Last client I took over from GN had lost 70% over 4 years, but I have also seen similar with DVP clients.

Agree about Guardian, many offshore brokerages sprung up based on the Britex / De Vere model. The founder of Britex , John Marks set up Carrigan International .... funnily enough based in Malta , with his ex Britex 'Brummy' recruitment 'monkey' , (can't remember that one's name). But the 'Brummy Monkey' once told me that he asked John Marks after seeing several potential clients ' Who's this Dow Jones bloke them is all talking about ?' He actually thought his naivity and ignorance was funny!

Green 'bought' Marks out of Britex / De Vere around 2003 for 6 million USD. Fact !

Marks once told me .... 'if anyone asks what commisision you earn on a 25 yr plan, divide it over the 25 yrs, tell them what it equals on an annual basis , don't fooking tell them it's front loaded !'

    Nemesis,

On an E2 visa, the spouse can work in the USA, wherever they find the work.

For such a basic error on your behalf, I feel you have zero credibility.

In any decent Sales team, about 90% are undrachievers and only 10% succesfull.

BTW, thanks, I'll give it serious consideration.

Jimmy , you're obviously a gullible fanasist , or just not very bright,in either event you are arrogant and rude.

For your info , you would only be permitted to work for your wifes company and no other.,until you got a green card some years down the line. You need to research this alot more don't you ? Or maybe Green or one of his monkeys told you that you could work for De Vere in The States if your wife got an E2 visa ! Probably, sounds like the usual DVP spin.

Here's some relevant info on The E2 visa .

"Other considerations are that new business owners can issue work invitations and work contracts to help assist themselves and family members gain entry. The method can be complex, but with some study and assistance it can be a cost effective way to gain green cards, work permits and, eventually, citizenship for those who are interested"

Jimmy, bit rude mate to Nemesis, I can't comment on the Visa as I have no knowledge. I do not know Nemesis but his facts re DVP and GN are factually correct.

Anyway it seems like your mind is made up so I wish you the best of luck in this new venture and hope it works for you and your family.

I personally think it would be useful to hear how you get on, so if you do have the time, please post to this forum.

It would also be worth sining up to Portfolio Adviser and International Adviser online, they are both free and may prove useful. You may also want to check out the Financial Advisers International Qualification.

    All the best OB

The E2 visa applicant may only work for the company that the application is made in.  The spouse can work for any other.

Not worth bothering with your nonsense when you keep making the same mistake over and over.

Grow up Jimmy, you'll learn soon enough .But don't say nobody warned you.

And in othere news ...........The US, EU and Australia all have economic sanctions against Zimbabwe and Mugabe's regime. Green and Co at Devere see this as 'an opportunity' ! They have a strategic alliance with a Zimbabwean Investment bank !

I have sat through their training and it is learning to parrot their sales presentation and they teach you not to practice good client relations but rather not to say please and thank you to the client.  If the client is unresponsive or too questioning to walk out... but not before you get your six 'indtoductions' rather than referral.  Having worked as a trainer for decades I would say it is a indoctrination program rather than a training program.  The less you know about financial planning the easier it is for them to suck you in.  be very careful.  the wheels are going to come off and you will be stranded.

To work at Devere you have to leave your initiative at home and become a clone.  You have to learn their script by heart and bow and scrape to the training providers as they constantly remind you they will decide your fate at the end of the week.  The less you know about the world of finance the more successful you will be as they will fill your head with all the information they want you to con the client with.  They will teach you to treat your customers badly, and they will tell you never say please or thank you and if the customer does not co=operate or asks too many questions leave immediately dont allow the customer to waste your time.  It is a company who does not value the customer or their work force, it is all about the money.  Nigel Green is the rot from the top and it goes down to the roots.  Take care if you are value based, you will have to make sacrifices to work at this company.  They will throw huge numbers at you and appeal to the greed within you, what kind of company is that?

Mr Migel Green and his company cost me about 10 Grand in broken promises some years back. He is a snake, and those aroung him are vermin.

At my induction week in Malta, i spent the week learning a script , listening to the best 'producers' in the company , in particular was one Spencer Lodge who was given 'star billing' as i recall. He was a rude, arrrogant man , who boasted about how much money he had made and his 'marketing practices' when first meeting clients. He told us ( about 16 people or so  ) I tell them anything they want to hear ,'I went to the London School of Economics,'  'worked as an ecomoist for Deutsche Bank after that' .
Many broken dreams had thru DVP, so avoid , especially if you have just lost your job, divorced recently, bereaved, or in debt! They love vulnerable people.

Watford fair comments, never met Lodge and don't really want to, met some similar to him. The point you make is clear and fair, customers, they do not give a stuff, staff do not give a stuff but will let you earn loads of money for them and if you do they like you for that moment in time. They don't actually like all that many people.

The guy you mentioned I understand left chaos in Holland and also has recently fallen out with Elton John.

"Tell them anything they want to hear..." Sounds like the Devere guy who sold me an investment. Apart from talking up the investment as something it wasn't, he told a story about being a trained accountant with 20 years experience who had worked for Deloitte and Touche and said his father had helped set up the branch of that company in the country where he came from. Later claimed to be a trained financial consultant with 20 years experience who had worked for a different financial company and said his father had helped set up the branch of that company in the country where he came from. Stories designed to make him look experienced and reliable and draw in the punters. Went on to set up his own financial consultancy. Has an online profile claiming over 20 years experience as an independent consultant. He'd been looking for sales jobs before joining Devere.

Devered, sorry to hear your story, fact is if you do know too much they do not want you as the want to mould you to do that pitch that everybody mentions, nothing more. One of the guys that I worked with at DVP (briefly) was suppossed to be an accountant, accountant my [***], he was a knuckle dragger of the first order.

Hi Firstly I must say that this conversation seems well monitored and I would bet half the potential earnings that Devere promise that most of the positive comments on here are from recruiters for or actual staff from the Devere group.

Yes there are some success stories but they work on the basis of throwing a mass of people against the wall and seeing what sticks....this is a rum industry, basically how the UK was before the FSA came into being.

No matter what company you work for bar a handful of honest, true self regulated organisations...I say this as no one else is regulating them offshore. You may be lucky to succeed but the odds are seriously staked up against you.

If you are going for what is basically a telesales role or a coordinator then make sure that they offer a decent enough package which will include a sensible basic, one that will keep you alive if nothing else over seas. That they will provide genuine back up and support, regular training on products and services. That they will contribute towards travel costs, be it a refund of air flight cost on completion of first sale...The company I am going to be working for is actually refunding me half my travel cost on arrival and the remainder on completion of first sale.

Also no matter what company you work for please check that they are not from the Devere Group or several others Henley being another, read up on other forums, some of the stories are mind blowing...not all in a positive way. Please read between the lines as every negative post will be responded with a positive one.....remember this is a massive multi million pound industry and it is in their industry to keep it smelling of roses.... it is nothing to have them employ someone to site there keeping up to date on all the hot gossip....when the conversation gets to hot for them YOU WILL SEE THE CONVERSATION VANISH....look at the history, Panorama did a great piece on the industry and Devere last year, very informative.

Dont be sold over by recruitment staff and companies who will bedazzle you with stories of how they made their fortune as IFA's and then decided to move in to recruitment as they dont need the money, I have heard this story now four times from four totally different companies. The scary thing is they all almost sounded like they were singing from the same script. The reason why these people are now recruitment agents rather than IFA's is that it is easier.....throw a hundred people at the wall and a few will stick.

Ask questions and get answers, not get into casual conversation which leads you away from the answer.

People do make money from this but they are the hard working people that use their initiative to conquer their market region .

I am giving this a go and so far have been successful in finding a decent company...on face value but I have inside help and am able to investigate companies in detail.

Good luck....not sure how long this will stay on here for!!
