I get the impression that "old bloke" is someone frome devere trying to respond as a third party!!!

I work for these guys and had i have been told the reality of this job then i most probably would not have taken this on... they promised alot and delivered nothing!!

1. the flight you never get back
2. you do not need a degree!!! its to glorify a telesales job which involves cold calling
3. if you are young with aspirations to be a FA then it will take you not upto 1 year as said in the presentation but will take you atleast 2 years, even then you will probably need to be around 25
4. you will spend alot of your own money, as once your out on field then it is hard to turn back and leave as you've probably had leaving do's and presents!!!

what it boils down to is that this is a sales job and ideal for anyone who likes sales, cold calling and is good at networking.... if you can [***] then this may be the job for you

maybe if devere start telling prospects the truth of the job then their employment turnover rate would not be as high as it is now, i have seen people come and go, and i probably will do the same once a few other projects i have going in the location i am in pay off!!!

Newboy, fair comments on the whole, there are some good outfits but the role is still tuff and they will not keep you for long if you don't sell. DVP are not all bad and the Panorama thing was a bit rubbish and missed most of what applies here. DVP are just hard, what results and that isbove any and all other factors.

As for posts removed from here I would say no most are still here and frankly I don't think this small forum would worry Nig and DVP too much.

The DVP recruiter and trainers, yes they couldn't actually make the job work, but they are good trainers if you like that style and that pitch does get the best out of mediocre people same as any other direct selling.

You are wrong my friend, I did work for them for a few months, worked for another outfit for a couple of years and now have my own office so of my 33 years in finance, about 5 have been offshore in this industry. I do know what I am talking about from all perspectives inclufding the technical side of the funds and products.

I agree you can be a bulls-----er, or very focused, you have to be as it is very hard and guess what if people knew that some may not go. DVP's game is numbers that's all. I agree as a Co-ordinator you will have had the most bull and having worked for a degree this role is hard [***] repetitive tele sales, nothing more, in reality even if your guy did well you would just about scrape by.

Obviously Nigel will use offshore corporate structures and offshore products created for that market, but there is actually nothing wrong with that, this is not Little England goes abroad it ain't a UK business either in structure or clients.

Green has switched operations between countries many times. They were originally a Bratislava based operation, then Malta , and so on . They seem to move away when countries become EU members, or more 'restrictive' . As such he is always one step ahead, but it's good to hear that he's attempting to 'trough' in The UK, that or selling to Americans ( as we know complexed and heavily restricted )  could be his demise.Fingers crossed for a just result.

The AFM ( link above ) are the regulators in Holland.Haven't heard anything about Belgium servicing Dutch clients or using it as a for trips into Holland ,but sounds very plausible.

Nothing surprises me about Green and his team, surprised only that more of them haven't served time yet. But, Devere have an intricate and complexed company structure that all leads back to 'low risk directorial' jurisdictions.

If Nigel is a Director of UK FSA regulated companies, then he has finally let his guard down. I personally think that anywhere in Europe that Nigel has a thumb print will bring him down. I also get the feeling that Devere and Partners' time has run out, hence the diversification of the parent co. activities.

Nigel is a con man , always was, and always will 'chance' his luck. The Authorities are closing in so it seems ,and not before time.

Jack Spratt - You miss the point somewhat in that the products are compliant and stay within a limited range so that in many cases no or limited registration is required, the FSA does not rule the whole world. If you mainly hit the expat market you probably will not fall foul of local regulators in many cases.

From the look of it he is now getting a compliance team together, funnilly enough when you have loads if money you can do that so I think that you are all wrong and he will not get any issues at all. The UK regulation are quite simply and established so it aint that hard to do business here just pushing bits of paper about.

I think he will get it in shape and then sell and spend many happy years on the proceeds of his ventures.

By the way the above to not mean I like the way he does business but just pointing out the reality of life.

Just to clear up a few things as I read this forum inside out and tried all i could to put of a good friend of mine who took a job with theis poor excuse for a company.

The story goes like this:

Phoned to see if he was interested in a job (exaggerated out of all proportions to make it sound amazing when really the company are a poor excuse and area ctually a group of people who exploit!!!!)

Next, asked to go to an interview. More of the amazing bullsh*t.

Next thing you know he is offered a job in Basel. Sounds to good to be true, i tried to warn him from what i read on here but he was young and went anyway - nothing to lose!

6 weeks after arriving he is now on his way home - devastated! It takes people who are like puss on a manky wound to exploit someone who wanted to do his best. I think of plenty of names including one that sounds like bankers which they are clearly not.

They paid for half his flight but have turned around and told him that they will not pay the hotel bills that they put him in. Crazy.

Anyway, if you come across this and are still querying whether to go or not, then read this because this forum is bang on with most of the comments.

Sorry to hear about your friend. If they made promises that they did not keep, they could be in breach of contract. He should definitely check that out.

I have heard quite a lot about Basel and none of it good, I think that CH is a difficult country in most regards to make it happen.

He won't be the first or last, in fact DVP is growing very fast so lots more hard luck stories but also some are making it work I guess.
