Who on earth claiming to be self-employed and making several £100 k a year, spends day after day and month after month answering questions about DeVere and their bad reputation. Why on earth would some former employee takes such deep interest in 'getting the record straight' for them.

Interesting comment, I did work for DVP, I don't anymore, yes I do earn a lot of money always have done so. Have not spent months on forum, just a few minutes.

1) assisting in getting them closed them down

2) urging everyone called to refuse their seedy advances

Had a meeting and call with Devere - whilst they may seem above board, anyone with any awareness or intellect wouldve seen the flaws and the poor work ethic within the company.

You will basically be taught how to be a professional con artist!

Seemed above above board? Your awareness must have been low that day. I terminated the interview after 5 minutes today! Still, had a nice sunny Spring afternoon strolling around, so all was not lost.

Went to the induction meeting last week where a crisp bag salesman called Steve something spouted a lot of lies like.."the last consultant that left was in December 2009".....read this forum. Asked if they paid all sales operational costs.............yes we do he stumbled...read this forum. Asked him if they run a consultant training course every week in Malta fo 20 people (thats say a 1000 a year) how come they still only have allegedly 400 consultants worldwide............a high degree of failure. Asked him about profitablity
..............he didn't know !!!!! All he presented was the glamorous side allegedly.........namely Dubaii............£500 k a year etc . It was sad to see the people....whose ego was rising by the minute ....being sucked in and so gullable...............Potentially it sounded interesting.......should have researched first  and saved my travel costs. Clever model though......employ people who pay for themself and the office costs and your inside sales person. Give them a moderate commission and take a big chunk yourself (devere). When they fail......get the next batch ready. Make your own judgement !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the CEO....in what ever conglomerate of organisations. I totally agree with your options." BUT DON'T LIE" get your staff to present reality. It makes you as  an individual and head of the company to look like a smuck. I am sure this doesn't  bother you as a hard nosed sales professional.  Your model for the company is interesting .............would be so much better if you could attract real salespeople. Maybe you should compare revenue streams in a difficult global environment with operational costs in Malta and the cost of failure !!.It is not going to get easier........perhaps your operational costs v returns reflect this. As an aside without prejudice  " sweety cheeks" is probably not what investors want to read.This gives a hidden message !! .......good luck but you need to change strategy.............What gets you there today may not get you there tomorrow!

Yep i got suckered in to by the DEVERE GROUP.

I should of known better as the flags were flying high on friday, when 3 time earned experienced IFA’s walked out in disgust at  presentation that was held in one of the cheapest leased offices in Kinghtsbridge, where they packed in over 50 potential wannabe’s for a 2 hour pitch. Informing us to call a number the following Monday morning if we’re interested.

So i called the number on Monday and was told to go to Birmingham for a initial interview with a Mr Liam Boyland. Where upon he told me that “I was to old and for the Consultants position”, !!!!!! so  he preceded to sell a position as a coordinator, and asked me what country in the world i’d like to work in, I mentioned Germany very strongly.

After a day or two, Mr Liam Boyland called me back and pitched me a coordinators position in Switerland. “As the laws in Switzerland are some what different.” So what happen to Germany i thought ???

Never mind alls good.

Now the only reason that i took the positions as a coordinator is for the following reason that that were explained to me in detail by Mr Liam Boyland of Offshore Recruitment in Birmingham for a office in Switzerland.

1) I would have a guaranteed WAGE of 2000 sf per month.
2 )My rent was guaranteed to be paid at £400 per month.
3) They would find me accommodation for the first 2 days and pay for it. Then i would have to find my own accommodation as it’s easier when you actually there.
4) Only speak to English Ex Patriots..
5) Training.

I even had this in writing by a Manger of one of the offices in Switzerland.

Even better I thought.

So off I go and book a flight, paid for a months rent and months deposit.  Got there on Sunday and started work on Monday morning at 8:00. Being a chatty person i asked a huge amount of question to everyone that would listen to find out about the company from the insiders point of view coordinators and consultants alike.

You need health insurance (which is not cheap) bank account, register at the council your in, if you want to move it can be very different from the adjacent council you are moving to and quite difficult to arrange  as you need signed rent documents, passport, health insurance, business contract, so on, so on and so on .

Now Liam Boyland Offshore Recruitment knows this, but not once did he mention it to me.
As he’s ultimately a sales man and will only get paid when the person in question actually arrives at the office that they have been assigned to and is asked to push the more difficult places to work in as in Switzerland as I was not made aware of any of the above until my second day in the office.


So on the third day i receive my Official Contract from the DEVERE GROUP


WHAT A JOKE !!!!!!


WAGES: this is not a wage it’s a retainer which has to be paid back.
RENT PAID : There is absolutely no mention of this in the contract at all.
PAY: first 2 days of your accommodation and guess what, Yep no mention of this in the contract either. Apparently It’s up to your consultant if he/she wants to pay it or not ...

Now how is my consultant going to pay for my rent plus the 2 days, if he’s/she’s only had 5 days training, no experience and not going to write any business until he’s up to speed, how long this will take him/her i don’t know ?

Some coordinators i spoke too their had been there over a year and still haven’t had any sort of commission due to the fact of being moved to one failed consultant to another meaning he/she now owes the DEVERE GROUP close on 12000 sf. Granted I don’t suppose that the DEVERE GROUP WILL claw back all their commission in one in a lump sum but will stagger it .... But tell me if i’m wrong here “a wage is a wage” !!!!!!

Which bring me nicely to of heard that some offices have up to 75% turn over of staff.

Only speak to Ex Patriots: Yer right I was actually given a list of Nationalities to call by the manager, but funny enough not Switzerland nationals as I was told cold calling is illegal in Switzerland as they don’t want to push it due to having a huge amount of complaints. Plus a huge amount of companies not to call in Switzerland and if i did (the managers word) “i would be sacked”  ...

Which brings me to being told by another consultant, that some office have 75% turn over of staff.

Plus i was told that some countries that the DEVERE GROUP operated in have been “as one consultant put it “RINSED DRY” and he/she been in contact with over 90% of the Ex Patriots, and businesses owners in their area. Also that they have been kick out of other countries for not having a license to trade. This was confirmed to me by Mr Liam Boyland who said that “if the DEVERE GROUP could not obtain a license in there country of choice  they would buy a established company and use their license to trade by” So same company different name.

This brings me on to the so called training that the DEVERE GROUP offer.

Basically you don’t really get any and left to defend for yourself. A consultant will get 5 days worth of training in Malta and thats it. which i was told is mainly role paying and a exam paper consisting of 20 questions only.


Lead generation

You are told to search companies in your area on the internet by using Business Network Sites such as (Linkedin) capture those names and pitch them to meet a consultant .....  once you have a database of 100 names they have to what manager called “WASHED” which red flags the names of people the DEVERE GROUP has called before. Thats it... As mentioned before one of the consultants told me that he’d contacted 90% of Ex patriots and businesses in our area that it had been rinsed. That leaves 10% not very good odds.
Now considering that there not interested in people who don’t have liquid assets of £10,000 - £20,000 per months s any thing below that income is not worth there time, even though it says on there fact finding sheet £5,000 upwards. how many people out of that 10% will earn around thats sort of money ? So it’s a complete waist of time. Whoever you may get lucky !!!

They way they target people is on referrals and they push this really hard. To the point that a consultant told me thats if he/she doesn’t get any referrals for a customer at a meeting he/she will not deal with them and walk out of the meeting informing them that he doesn’t work for free.

So my advice if you thinking about joining  the DEVERE GROUP is get everything in writing, know exactly what you’re letting yourself in for before you leave you home and be prepared to be very disappointed and don’t believe a word Mr Liam Boyland says.

THANK YOU for posting this mate! I was looking into them after they called me and had my suspicions but this conforms that they are less than honest in what they promise so I certainly wont be wasting my time on their presentation.

Well there's another lie in you first sentence:

Why was i told at the presentation, the Manager plus the Regional Manager thats the Deverve Group has 52 global offices.????

2nd Lie: (Full training and development to achieve international qualifications)

Well i suppose i'st not a lie. But i'st a poor cast off of the CISI qualification a 5 day course in Malta and roll play after roll play and yes the exam is only 20 question WOOOOOO!!!!

Only applies if you work in a country that is tax exempt, you are SELF EMPLOYED and you HAVE to pay your own TAX " yet another thing that was NEVER mentioned to me. However United Emirates which is tax exempt has been rinsed by the Devere Group. how do i know this i was told by one of a consultants that has recently moved to Switzerland. Now granted  if you do make any money just say £75,000 you will receive less than 50% as the other 50% goes to the Devere Group so your £75,000 now looks something like £32,500 still a good wage though but remember your going to have to pay tax on that. That was never told to me either

Yer IF you get one. There was a handful of coordinators there and the majority of consultants had to fend for themselves.

Liam Boylan is a salesman thats his job " it's all signing and all dancing he paints a wonderful picture .... Until you get to your destination?  then you hear the real story". and then the goal post kept moving and moving and moving ....

Guys you don't have to believe me not one bit ... But i really do suggest that you ask a HUGE amount of question before you even think of booking a flight ....

Well said "Once Bitten" thats word for word my exact experience i had with deVerve Group PLC.

I've just come back from United Emirates wasted nearly £8,000

No training.
No support.

The first few days i was there i was twiddling my fingers.

I was embarrassed to say i work for the deVerve group PLC when out socializing and networking people just at laughed me telling me what a cut throat business wanting nothing to do wit it. Never have i worked for any company that has been so disorganized. no wonder why they've been kicked out of so many countries.

In hindsight i wish i never had signed that worthless contract and just cut my losses and run.

Do not waste you time and money.

I lost over £30,000 in charges alone, out of my pension due to the deVere Group which if i left it in my original pension i wouldn't of lost a thing and would of made more money in the long run with my old pension than the one the deVere Group salesman put me on.. Not financial Advise, Salesman who has subsequently left the company. Go figure

- The advert I copied and pasted was to demonstrate that those (like you) who have posted their many experiences here have found them to be entirely different to what was described and promised by deVere

- That the whois info was to demonstrate that the recruitment agency you went to meet Liam Boylan at, Recruits Offshore, is wholly owned by deVere. Not neutral, impartial, honest etc

However, your outraged replies have meant that some people who were thinking of working for deVere will now not be suckered in as google indexes and throws them up in complaint and scam searches.
