Just had 5 calls from this number - Asian chap saying he needed me to get online so he could give me a refund! As if!!!
On his 2nd call I told him I was recording the conversation and that he was a scammer and please remove my number from his directory. 3 more unanswered calls so far.
For gods sake stop interrupting my day off.

Similar call as reported, Indian Lady called Rebecca (my a**e), calling from Windows Techincal Dept telling me my computer was downloading Malware etc. I have had previous calls from this number; (the last one being about PPS) so when I answered I was prepared. I asked her which company she was calling from and she explained "windows technical dept". I then suggested that Windows was an application, not a company so Windows doesn't have a technicle dept. I asked again, which company she was calling from and she continued with her script. On insisting that she tell me her company, she then cut off.
My advice - either put the phone down or asdk them for their info - they don't like it.

Nothing stops them! I got my service provider to put call rejection on my line but that only stops legit call centres from calling you. I put the anonymous caller rejection on (apply = *227#  cancel = #227# check = *#227#  )  this only stops people who withhold there number including doctor surgery's and that also costs some money. Con centres don't care I just had a woman calling about my computer and I asked her witch part of the world she was from... India she said?  but I have noticed that a call centre from Plymouth sometime brakes the rules ? You can stop and take legal action these days against comments on the internet BUT you still get these people calling you to upset you're day?  SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT WITH TELEPHONE PROVIDERS!

    This is a scam.

My caller agent said he was called DAVID JONES from Microsoft, he had the broadest Indian accent I have heard in some time. He said that they had detected virus software on my computer.

Microsoft will not call you, they are not bothered about your computer, they've already sold you their software.

They also do NOT call up people about virus software.

These people are scammers and get your details, tel number & sometimes name and then try and get access to your computer by saying they have detected a virus or your PC has been affected by something. They then ask you for your IP address (Network address), once they have this they can then look through your PC files without you knowing.

They are looking for bank account details, usernames and passwords which they could use to access your money or online banking or anything else which they can get access to.

DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFO AND TELL THEM WHERE TO GO, OR IF YOU WNAT STRING THEM ALONG AND WASTE THEIR TIME.

I am a computer engineer and work in a support team for a large corporate bank. These scammers are
cretins, pests, the scum of the earth.

    DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING.

They call me regularly and have no success. When I answer hello taxi, they hang up, when I tell them my arms aren't long enough to turn on my computer they become intrigued and ask why, to which my reply is that I am about 5 miles from home.
Today they rang offering a refund of £200, I asked why, he didn't know why so I told him that they were trying to scam me in some way he asked me if I didn't want my money then, told him no he hung up, politely.
Why do they continue, do they make money from the calls in some way?

Got a call from this number at 7.15 this morning.  Man with incomprehensible Asian accent from "Windows Tech Support".  I get about ten of these calls a week - usually from "Out of Area" caller IDs, which I ignore.

My tactic these days (assuming I'm not too busy) is to keep them on the phone for as long as possible so that they have less time to call somebody who might actully fall for their scam.  Just asking them "can you explain all that again slowly.  I don't understand." is marvellous.  You can hear them getting more and more annoyed.  After the third repeat they usually hang up.

The only problem is that the person I am "getting my revenge on" off lives in a slum in Mumbai and is paid tuppence an hour.  They are even more of a victim that we are. The real people I want to annoy are the scumbags who run the business.

Now that they have moved to a recognized UK number surely BT should take steps to disconnect their service.  I know they will just find another number, but BT really needs to be held to account for allowing this type of criminal behaviour to go unchecked.
