Got a call from Gracie of Click to Fix It (or some such). 1471 gives the number as 02538020308. She was going on about some internet issues in the local area, couldn't quite understand exactly what she was saying was wrong. She had my name and local area correct. Anyway I told her that there was nothing wrong with my computer or internet but she carried on and eventually I just said that I wasn't interested and she closed the call politely. I've been in the IT business for over 30 years and it would be a last resort to call anyone else in if I experienced a problem let alone when my system and internet connections are behavng themselves. If I detect a problem then I will follow it up and I am not going to respond to cold calls telling me I have a problem when I don't.

Called me today, 7/1/11 claiming to be a computer security company.  He offered to help me fix a virus which he said was on my computer!  I love these guys!

I had great fun with him, agreeing with his tips, and when he asked me to double click, I said "Is that a double tap?" - (I'm using an iPad) he still didn't rumble me, then he asked me what was on the icon in bottom left - I said it was Settings!!  I got a bit bored then, so I told him I was using an iPad so that companies like his couldn't cause me hassle - and then he hung up!!

Its a foreigner called Eric who tells you your PC is under attack from a virus. Obviously after money for an anti-virus programme. I used a few blasphemies to tell the jerk where to go then received a landline call from 07953966066 (female voice)which was hard to understand but F word included. Say it to my face sweetheart and that will be the end of you.

My answeringmachine picked up a call from that number (My TAM dials 1471 automatically). I have bought a computer from Curries/PC World in the last two weeks. I declined their offer of Anti-Virus Software. I am suspicious. Does this link with anyone else?

Femail asian caller asked for me by name and said it was a call on behalf of my internet service provider. I queried who my internet service provider was and she avoided answering the question and then hung up.
The caller Id number is unreachable so must be yet another pfishing scam of some sort.

Had a call ten minutes ago, but did not reach the phone in time (1pm, 18th Jan).  A quick 1471 and this number came up.  Googled it and this was the first site to pop up.  I'm in Aberdeen city centre.  I look forward to them calling back.

Friday of last week my elderly father received a call from 'Virtual PC' who told him they had detected a virus on his PC and he would need to turn it on and let them connect to fix it - a service that they would offer for free!
He asked them to call back in 10 mins as he was going to call me to check it out.
He rang me, I told him to tell them to shove it up their R's, but they didnt call back........

I got a call from the same number last night,
Asian woman telling me that research had shown that most Windows users had suffered from PC slowdowns and crashes, but she had a Microsoft certified technician that would be able to assist me.

As I am myself MS certified & have 10 years in the industry, I spent five minutes winding her up and asking her questions about what it could be that was causing the issue. I told her I was MS qualified and would love to talk to her tech as we would have so much to discuss!

She eventually said that if I was certified I would be able to fix my PC myself. I agreed with her, but asked again to talk to her tech so we could compare notes.... It was at this point that she got annoyed and hung up. Hehe
