friend calls me from his mobile using fring or similar phone call app, and this is the number that shows in Australia.

had 3 missed calls from this number at 8pm friday 9th jan 2009. not really fazed as i have the phone on silent most of the time.
i wonder if it is a vehicle tracking s'ware application going wrong. (these tracking devices work by calling a modem in the device and then downloading GPS data from the device, the modems get access to the world via SIM cards)
why can't the mobile phone companies allow us to block certain numbers on our phones much the same way that we can block e mails from certain addresses?

I left Australia on Dec 20, 2008. On dec 23rd, I received my first call from this number. i have now recieved nine calls in total. They never leave a message, so I have no idea who they are or why they are calling.

I got a call too.. Infact Ive had about 20 in the last 5 days.. I signed up for a "make money from home" online thing roughly 6 days ago.. I think its them!

I received a call from this number and I answered it. The lady on the end said her name was Mary something and she was calling from Hong Kong regarding a business opportunity from a company called Global Energy Group or similar. I have no idea what its regarding or anything but there you go a heads up. This is a call I have been getting for the past two months and I finally answered it at a time that suited me.
They have said that they will ring back at my convenience next week to discuss their offer.
What ever not interested.

I received a call from this number today and called back and got a fax signal. I googled the number which brought me here.

I will report the number to the Do Not Call Register and not answer any more calls should I receive them.

2 days in a row this number 0282094700 has called at all hours 10 times, also on 0390010000 and 0290370000.

anyone had these same numbers?

I reveived a call last night, is this number belongs to telstra? Can some one help me here, how would i get this number tracked?

So has anyone figured out what this number really is? It seems as though all Melbournians are recieving this call.

i just received  a call from my ex husband from this number  but when i called back it was disconnected!!!!!!

So im guessing its a call card and its being transmitted through the sydney and redirected

I'm in nsw....wtf. BUT i believe the person who said about using a call card from overseas is correct because intermitten with the calls from this number are calls from somebody's mobile who i know is overseas.

lol this is hilarious...I had a call from this number about 4:30pm today and I tried to call it back, but yeah, got the fax signal/dial up signal. I tried to look for a reverse phone search but apparently they're illegal in Australia and someone advised me to just type the number in Google. Then I found this! I think its a way of connecting international calls in Australia...cause a friend from the US said they tried to call me, but i didnt think it would be them cause it comes up on caller ID like an Australian number.

I just got a call from this number as well, it's 6:40pm here in Perth, Australia.

I got a call while I am having holiday in Hong Kong at 1pm HK time, I rang back a few time, same story, it was a fax tone. [***] the [***] pranker!

i just got this exact number call me.. i dont understand everyone is saying different things half of u said about tele marketing and others about friends overseas????

JUST SPOKE TO TELSTRA - IN SIMPLE TERMS ITS JUST A ROUTE NUMBER FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL CALLS COMING INTO AUSTRALIA WHETHER IT BE FROM FRIENDS TELEMARKETERS WHATEVER.  YOU GET THE 'FAX' SIGNAL SOUND BECAUSE ITS A NON CALLBACK NUMBER.   SOMETIMES YOU WILL GET THE NUMBER SOMETIMES YOU WONT - IT JUST DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH PHONE TRAFFIC THERE IS COMING IN FROM OVERSEAS, WHAT TIME OF THE DAY IT IS AND WHETHER OR NOT THE AUSSIES ARE WINNING THE CRICKET! LOL - SO NO NEED TO PANIC HERE FOLKS - BUT ITS PRETTY LIKELY IF YOU DONT KNOW ANYONE O/S THAT ITS KAREEM FROM SOME DAMN CALL CENTRE IN BOMBAY INDIA - YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD  HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE TO RING IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES!
