I missed a call from this number but thought I'd google it first. Not going to call back now. Thanks for the info guys - save me from wasting my time and $

I am in Sydney and I received call from this number 02-8209-4700 5 times in 10 min from 3:50pm - 4:00pm today at 14/1/2009. I believe this call is dialling from the automatic system. The call is then diverted to the opeartor when someone picks up the phone.

I am in Wollongong and I have had a few calls from this numbers in the last few days. Same deal as everybody else - fax machine/modem answers call.

I got about 4 calls from this number while I was in Vanuatu over Xmas.  My father also got calls from the same number the day before me (24Dec).  Apparently the number has been disconnected now (I just tried to call it from a private landline).

As above - missed call, fax signal when I tried to return the call.

I got a phone call from this number. I *think* it is the equivalent of a switchboard for people who call from overseas using a long-distance discount number. The call is sent to Australia over the internet (to cut costs), and then forwarded nationally to the person they are trying to call. This explains the odd times for people who were called by mistake by someone overseas in a different timezone.

This seems to be a skype gateway

The idiot above that said don't trust any numbers starting with an 8 is a fool , 8 indicates you are on a digital circuit at the exchange - isdn or pri interface

If you receive a call from this number, it is from someone overseas using a phone card or international number, and it could be a relative who is trying to reach you. Due to the time difference, they will most likely call during weird hours. My mother calls me from oversea, and that's the number that shows up each time. So don't be alarmed! Its NOT a prank caller hehe

i got a call too from this number but it was during office hours in the morning. talking like someone who knows me but i dont know. so i guess wrong number was dialed.

It is an Indian Call Cenre trying to flog [***]

I received a call from this number on my mobile - I called back from my company landline that hides the direct line (in case its a spammer) and got a fax machine.

A severall times in december '08 and january '09 this number called me. The last time i pick up the call and it was a person from Holland that called me (i was in Australia). I didn't know the number but it was nothing strange at all.

Same as all the rest. called at 11.59 and when I called back it was a fax signal

0282094700 Is a Roaming Service number.
It comes up when people are calling you from oversea and have international roaming active.

I HAVE HAD PHONE CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS EARLY HOURS OF THE MORNING ANYWHERE FROM MIDNIGHT TO 3.00 IN THE MORNING.
I JUST PUT MY PHONE ON SILENT BUT STILL IT GETS REALLY ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING.
WHY CANT THEY JUST F*** OFF.

I'd never had a call from this no., but just the other day I met a really weird woman who had my number on her phone and since then I have received calls from the number in question...
