I was talking to Mio (as in the GPS device) Support. I had given them my mobile number in the conversation. The land line dropped out later in which they rang me straight back on my mobile phone with this number 0282094700. They were calling from the Philippines. - Hope this helps. And yes I just tried it then & got a fax line tone as well. But it was indeed Mio at the time who called me using that number. It is still in my mobile phone as a received call.

I keep getting this number calling me constantly but no-one there

Yeah,got the call 10 minutes ago.Scam big time,just dont ring back,might cost u a fortune...

These calls ring once with ID then call back a minute later as a private number.  I don't answer either but thought I would do a web search and found you guys instead.  Glad I did, now I know never to answer this no ever.  I'm with Telstra and Optus (two phones) but they only ever call on my Telstra no.

I just had this number call me. Dead silence at the other end. Called back: Optus says disconnected.

Call back again: fax/modem sounds.

Same as all the others. I'm in Brisbane and googled this number and it let me to here.  Tried to call it back but got a fax signal.  Annoying!!!!

I had this number appear when someone that I know called me from Brazil Mobile -> My Mobile on Three network.

It's some whack job from India trying to get you to change ur mobile phone contract to some company that no-one has ever heard of.  He's really rude and pushy - I hung up on him the first time, then a week later he rings me again.  I yelled at him to not call me again and he hung up on me. haha

I have been receiving calls from this number several time over the last month and a half, at the most inconvenient times. I can hardly understand what they are saying as the line is really bad, it also seems like they are calling from a cavenous room. It is the the same person each time, a lady called Jenny, who is calling from Singapore. I think she said she was calling from a company called Abacus and she was promoting a listing of some company on the ASX. I told her I was not interested and she asked why, as I proceeded to tell her, she hung up on me. I never ring back as I have seen that the number is 0282094700, even though she said she was calling from Singapore.

I got a phone call showing this same number although it was my mother in law, who lives in Ireland? I havent called back as I assume i will get the same fax tone everyone else hears. I cant figured it out!?

I get a call at least once a day at all times of the day and night.. i heard its not a good idea to call back because they charge you for it.

THE NUMBER IS JUST A USED TO ROUTE CALLS FROM OVERSEAS COUNTRIES TO AUSTRALIA THROUGH SKYPE ETC VOIP PROVIDERS AS IT IS CHEAPER FOR USING THE INTERNET FOR THE CALL INSTEAD OF A DIRECT PHONE LINE.  IT IS NOT A SCAM AND YOU WILL NOT GET CHARGED FOR RINGING IT ( EXCEPT NORMAL LOCAL CALL RATES , UNLESS YOUR IN MELB CALLING SYD). I HAVE PEOPLE I KNOW FROM OVERSEAS ALL THE TIME THROUGH SERVICES LIKE THIS AND THAT IS THE NUMBER THAT USUALLY POPS UP.

Had 16 calls from this number since yesterday morning, all at stupid time (4am-5am, 11-12pm)
i just answer to annoy them now :)

Thanks, Eddy (above).  That explains it.  I've been getting these calls on both my mobile and landline and it has been annoying me like you would not believe.  Now I know and can continue ignoring the calls.

2 mintus ago got 2 missed call from this number. and now on my other number got same number calling it was my husband from Sweden.

I get called on this number everytime I receive an internatinal call. I suspect it's being intercepted and routed through the government snoops
