They said it becaue, thankfully, they are really, really stupid.  They obviously have no idea how things work in the UK and because they see "licence" in both agencies think they are linked.  If they ring again tell them you have SORNed your TV as a wheel fell off so you don't need a licence!.

It is TV Licensing. They're ringing to say ur behind with payments. They rang me and gave me my details not me giving them my details

It is TV licensing but I just ignore the calls and pay online or at paypoint.

If you are behind with payments and you answer the call, they want you to pay immediately, and ask for your debit or credit card details (including the security number)., It is wise not to do it.

they say they are tv licencing i had their number on my mobile but had missed their call and they rang the house asking for my husband - whose name is on the tv licence i checked the phone number after by dialling 1471 - same number that is on my mobile (on checking on-line with tv licencing we have fallen behind slightly with payments - on their records - tho we have paid since) so it looks legit

Its defo tv license it is the number they use when u r behind with payment easy fix if like me u pay every week/two weeks n forget now n then just go online n pay the 12/13pound at least u will

This is not TV licence as I've paid mine up to date and have receipts and they keep calling my landline I just put phone down on them.

I'm not behind with my TV license payments and I have never given my phone number to the TV license people so I don't see how it can be them. My answerphone picked up and no message was left, I thought this was considered bad protocol by government depts. because of the stress and anguish it can cause, particularly to older people.

They get paid when you give them money. Even of your license is up to date some staff will demand money. Hang up if you are up to date with your license. They will try calling you many times but will eventually give up if the call is non-important. If it was important, you would receive a letter. If you are up to date, ignore or block all calls

Hey, I just had a call, saying tv licencing and I've never had a call from them, wanted name address and account number I said no and get someone to call back and they refused, they even answered the phone normal, very dogey number don't give them no details
