Had this number call work phone ask for an employee, empolyee is not with anz and has never given them this phone call, when asked who it was they hung up on me!

OK moron, we don't need to learn anything.

These calls are a form of harrassment. It may be "their" job, but it is a dumb and stupid job. STOP CALLING. But perhaps you are too stupid and uneductaed yourself to understand this.

I got a call from this number today. I don't know anyone with an 864 number so I typed it into google and this page came up. Thanks for everyone's help on this.

This number has been calling me continuously for weeks & have never left a msg.  I called it back one night & got a msg to call 131314.   I called anz & they have no record of it & said they could not do anything about it.  It is driving me mad!!  To the telemarketer, give us your home number & we can call you at dinner time every night & annoy you.  If I want a service I will research it and phone them, they do NOT need to phone me to sell me something...I buy enough stuff!  It is a very annoying practise.  Unfortunately some people have to been employed in this job, I would cope more with it if they could actually speak English.  Everyone should register on the "donotcall.gov.au" website.  Have just done this, & hopefully these scam/nuisance calls will end now.

Got a call from this number a few minutes ago - the chap on the other end of the line sounded Indian, and he proported to be from ANZ Bank.

He knew I had a credit card and wanted to tell me all about its features, but needed my passcode and full name in order to do so.

Alarm bells sounded, and I ended the call.

recived calls from this at least a dozen times wanted to speak to my partner about an anz account rang anz they have no idea who it is from.

Just got a call from this number today also - picked up but it was silent on the other end

I've received 4 calls from this number but wasn't able to answer it each time. I thought I'd run the number through a search engine and found this site. I won't be worrying again to who it may have been. Great site .

I just got a call too, exact same scenario saying you recently got a credit card, which was the case.

I wonder how they know this information and what security issues ANZ has.

This number called me. I asnwered. After a 3-5 second pause a man with an Indian accent (I've worked with about 30 Indian persons over the past 3 years and am well aquainted with their accents. I do not have ANY racial prejudice against Indian persons). He said his name was Raul (I think), then asked to speak with me by name. I enquired as to the nature of his call, he said he was from ANZ (my bank) and asked again if he was speaking to me. I confirmed that it was me he was speaking to, he siad he was calling as aoutine follow up call regarding my new credit card and gave me the 'your call may be monitored for training purposes' speech. He than asked me to clarify my full name for security reasons. I hung up, and he called back within 10 seconds but I didn't pick up.

How did I know it was a hoax?
1) ANZ Bank are in Australia, there shouldn't have been a pause.
2) ANZ notify you if a follow up call is part of the process, and they send you secure mail through your internet banking or a letter in the post, not over the phone

3) ANZ use a pre recorded FEMALE voise saying that your call may be monitored
4) ANZ never ask you to clarify your details. If they call you, they already know who you are, or use your secret question
5) ANZ identify themselves when you answer the phone. They say very clearly "Hi, I'm Joe Blogs, calling from ANZ" when you answer
6) My gut feeling said it just wasn't right.

I called ANZ, and they said they didn't have any record of calling me, and congratulated me on not being taken for a ride by some con artist :)

Ihavr had this number quite a few times as a missed call and had no idea who it was til now.

I  just hang up every time this number shows up.. But they are persistent. I get at least 5 calls a week over the last 4 months

yeah that number called me and confirmed my first name but then proceeded with asking me what my last name and DOB was.... I then asked who they were and they said some financial survey company.. I refused and figured it was a scam.. When i call the number back they say its ANZ and they will call me back etc.....03 86468775. ITs a scam beware

This is not an ANZ phone number. I called the real AnZ when they started asking for credit cards numbers and personal details. They said no one from ANz had called me (required by law to record phone interactions with clients on account notes and none existed) been forwarded to their fraud investigation department.

recevied a call at 2:05 p.m. AEST.  No reponse at the other end. Did  a google search and found this blog. This could be a FAKE call.

Received call at from 8646 8775 today at 9.02am. No response from caller.

I too received a call from this number but my phone did not even ring!  It just appeared on my missed call list.  I am too afraid to call back now!!!  What if there is only heavy breathing on the other side...

Got a call from this number around lunch time today. Answered as I didn't know the number, was saying hello but no one said anything back. Hung up and checked out this site.

Had a call last Monday from this number. Aussie male said he was from ANZ and wondered whether I had time to answer some questions. I said I was at work and he politely said someone would call back.

Checked this site and haven't answered since. Persistant [***] keep calling 3 times a day. Just keep rejecting. Dodgy dodgy dodgy.

Seems these ppl are at it again.  I got a missed call from my phone (didn't actually ring) and then a voicemail message... the male at the end didn't leave a voicemail message, just keeping saying "hello, Melanie, hello, Melanie".  Phoned the number back and it said it was ANZ outbound call centre and that my phone call has been rescheduled.  Then googled and found this.
I won't give any details out over the phone, unless it's a provider etc that I've called.
I really don't trust incoming phone calls from numbers I don't know and will be sure to give them a serve and let them know that some of the general public are on to this issue.
