I am an Anz Customer. Last week I decided to apply online (something I usually never do) for a new online saver account. Today I have received 4 missed calls from this number, no msg left from any! Not thinking the two may be related,I checked my online banking (to see if my account had be approved- it hasn't) and then my email. I did receive 1 email from ANZ saying they had tried to call me and that I should return there call on a 1800 number to confirm my details and ask for more in regards to the new account. Curious i googled this number and found this site. Thank God!! I think after reading this I will wait till my day off now and personally go into ANZ to sort out my account (as I do normally do!)

They ask us all our very personal details to "confirm" who we are but how do we really know who they are? It is too easy to get screwed over by doing important business over the phone or internet! I have been stung in the pasedd by Telstra!

Got a call from this number at 12:15pm today (AEDST) with the Indian man on the other end saying he was from ANZ, however did not catch his name. He asked if it was an appropriate time to talk, I said I was at work and it wasn't (alarm bells were going off). Man said he would call at an appropriate time. I then googled this number and found this page. Cheering.

I got a call today from this number - he said he was from ANZ, he new my name, my number and that I had recently opened up an account with ANZ (not cool ANZ).

He said he wanted to help me see if I had everything set up ok, then he wanted me to provide my full name, current address and DOB - this is when I thought, hmm sounds a little dodgy, so I pulled him up on it and said no, how was I to know it was him so he then fed me with a line about putting a note on the system that he'd called me and that I could call the number on my card to confirm the note and he'd call me back later today, I still didn't budge with the details - I guess this is the part where some trusting people might fall over.

So just called ANZ on 13 13 14 - not the number on my card and they said it sounded suspicious and advised I did the right thing, and to never give that information over the phone or online, they would never call and ask for these details.

Hello. These calls come from an automatic dialler which has it's own number. These calls ARE from ANZ but not nesecarily from the same area as multiple teams use the dialler as well. Ask tem to leave a note and call back to confirm the note. NOT A SCAM.

Convenient that this person has defended the call but given their name as "Anon".

If it really was the ANZ they would leave a message for you to call back and not call me three times a day, every day, for the last two weeks!!!

Seems a bit suss to me.

I have made a complaint to the ACMA to investigate. Surely three calls a day for two weeks is harrassment?

Just got another call... he was Australian but didnt sound all that professional and just told me he was calling to see "how everything was going" I don't think so!!

I have received 2 calls from this number today for the first time about 6 hours apart. Because I did not recognise the number both times I just answered with a "hello" and no name. Both times the call has been disconnected with nothing said by the caller. Interestingly I have just recently started banking with ANZ.

Got woken up to this number. Was tempted to call back but instead googled it cause was very unsure about where it came from (had scam calls before, so paranoia kicks in)

Glad I found this: hope they don't call again. Then again, they can be rather persistent...

Got a call from this number yesterday but nobody was there.
Got a call today and a lady (slight Indian accent) called "Raj" was on the line - claimed to be ANZ and wanted to check my details.
I basically told her to b****a off !   ANZ can contact me the other means they know about, if they really want to speak to me.

Hi folks i called ANZ customer service about these calls (13 13 14). The lady i spoke to said this is highly suspicious and stated that each time ANZ try to contact you they WILL note your account. She said that ANZ will contact you via phone on occassion but all attempts are recorded on your account. My account had no notes on it and i have been called at least 4 times (hung up on all 4). Dodgy AS!

I got another call from this number - I have got them daily for the last week.   I think my mobile number was on my husband's application for an ANZ credit card which was granted about 11 months ago - and in all that time he has never used it.   We only got the card because we got a home loan and it was thrown in for "free" and it had 12 months worth of free travel insurance thrown in - so that was the reason he applied for it.   The annual fee for the card was waived in the first year and they will start from the second year - ie, next month - so I think the Bank's telemarketers are hounding him because he never uses the card or to sell him more products.....
He's now going to cancel the card - the insurance was useful but we have no further need for this card.    Now that I know who the caller is, I will just say that "we are not interested in any more ANZ products" and hang up.

I get daily calls from this number asking for my husband but I keep saying he's not here.  Even when I dont answer the call they never leave a message.  Today I didnt answer the call and a woman called Katy left a message asking for my husband to call her as she was from the ANZ Bank and she was offering a "more personalised and higher standard of service".
If we want something from the ANZ bank then we will ask them - I hate being chased!

Received calls from this number 2 times today. If this number isn't legitimate, then why aren't Anz doing anything about this after several people have advised anz directly of this scam???

Received a call from this number, caller introduced himself as a Peter from ANZ (Melbourne) and asked for my personal details (DOB, address, etc).

Got a call from this number today saying they were from ANZ. It wasn't a convenient time so I asked them to call back, then I rang ANZ straight away and they checked and said nobody from there had phoned me. They also said they never make unsolicited calls and never to give out your personal info to someone like this.

ANZ Outbound are a telemarketing company based in the Philippines.

If you dial the 03 8646 8775 number and listen carefully to the message, there is no mention of ANZ Bank, just ANZ Outbound Customer Care. I think the company is playing on the fact that when we hear ANZ we naturally assume it's the bank.

I am an ANZ Bank customer and I'm assuming that somehow ANZ Outbound have got hold of a list of ANZ Bank customers to improve it's response rate when targetting people.

They initiated the phone call as from ANZ, implying hte bank, not the outbound call centre.
I reoported them to scamwatch (ACCC).
