Got message (when I did 1571) to ring back on my home phone number. I'm really glad that I was able to check this call out on the internet as otherwise I would have rung, especially as I have just arranged a trip to London and thought this call may have been related to my trip.These scams seem to be on the increase and are such a nuisance.

I to get these calls,and they know my name,I cannot think of any reason for this meaningless junk,other than a vengeful internet service provider who you have just canned,or your current I.S.P  trying to flog you a anti nuisance call app.???

I received a blank text message from 07914552622 to my land line. It was followed by a request to call 0795366066 to stop the messages. I dont know if this a scam or not. T mobile know nothing about it, but they told me that the original number ending in 622 was from a virgin network.

I tried the number on my mobile without blocking my number (yea I know really stoopid) to see if I could see who it was, but obviously there was no name. They text me on my mobile to ask who I was. I replied by saying I had dialled wrtong number. They sent thta I was a liar, as they 'knew my number' I then asked who they were. They said 'you called me, you tell me who you are' I have stopped replying now.

There's some information on the internet that suggests this number is a virgin media/BT number that delivers text messages. This is not apparently the case - of course, BT does offer such a service, but when BT delivers a text message to a landline you will see the number 0845 602 1111 (08456021111) as the calling line identity.

However, when you get a call from 07953966066 you do get an automated voice message delivered (using text to speech synthesis) apparently from another mobile . This is all part of trying to make the service sound real.

Of course, the killer indicator that this is a scam, is the request to call the 07953 number back to repeat or delete the message. At best this call would be at mobile rate, at worst, some kind of premium rate. A couple of minutes calling back and the scammers have potentially racked up a few pounds from you.

It's not obvious whether you can stop these calls, unless you block their CLI (for example using BT's "choose to refuse" service.

However, you can generally control the delivery of BT text messages to your landline by calling 08005875252 (note how it's free!) To turn them off completely choose option 1 then 5. Of course, this turns off all messages, which may not be desirable.

I received a call from 07953 966066 on my BT landline last evening, the message was disgusting implying somebody had been watching our house.  I phone the number back on my mobile and got the message that it was a 'fixed text service'. I was really upset at first but now I am angry that this call had invaded my privacy. I would like to report this incident but to who?

Its a company called Past Due Credit..
scam debt collectors that make up their own debts then chase you for them..
just ignore the idiots..its costing them not you

I have just had a call on my landline from this very number @ 09:45 29/06/11 .....

it read - txt message from 07953966066 " Hi baby cakes, miss you and love you lots ... kiss kiss kiss "

I am assuming it is a scam and they just want me to call the number as I trust my wife and I certainly do not have any one other than her send me messages of this nature.

I got into debt and then moved and got a new number. this new number was only known to my creditors. I recieved 2 calls from this number but I did not answer it. Is it true that they are scam dept collectors?

got a call from this number. one of those electronic voices that sounded robotic and spoke so fast i could not understand a word of it.

I began having loads of these type of messages - every day  for three months, from February to May, in the end I contacted my MP - he deal with it and so far they have all stopped, then, this week I have received a call from this number stating that I had been text and to ring this number - I ignored it as they were asking yet again for a Mr. John Clack - who I do not know, but this was the name which was being used before when I kept getting these nuisance calls - they are debt collectors - just contact your MP - who will stop these nuisances from calling you.

If someone phones you and they are out of credit then it gives a message "The Virgin Mobile calling you is out of credit. Please phone [mobile telephone no] "  I get this quite a lot as my ex is always running out of credit on her phone.

Automated caller said it had a text message, then quoted the message (something like) "xxx night night babe, thinking of you, I love you xxx".  This was repeated, then it said if I wanted to listen again to call 07953 966066.  I was half way up the stairs to strangle my poor hubby, when the word SCAM sprung to mind!  Good job I'm not totally paranoid!

virgin mobile fixed line sms service???????? anyone ever heard of this?
