They've been ringing me for a while... it is connected to O2. They were trying to sell me O2 mobile broadband, which I've been after anyway, so saved me a phonecall.  They are legit from O2 as I logged in through o2.co.uk using the login I setup with them and it all worked hunky dorey, so its either legit, or one extremely brilliant scam. They are however a bit pushy, which I'm not happy with.

i have just recieved a call off the number above but missed it. I found it strange for a 0800 number to ring a mobile so googled it.
Lucky for me my phone can block numbers so they won't be bothering me anymore!!

This number just rang my landline, but when I answered nobody was there, probably a badly implemented "powerdialler" system.  I'm reporting them and recommend others do too, see:

Had a call from this number quarter of an hour ago. Followed the link in Kris' comment (http://www.dynamoo.com/diary/lbm-direct-marketing.htm) and phoned LBM on their direct line 0161 929 5799. Asked for their public relations department or somewhere I could complain, got put through to a wonderful young lady who said they were calling about broadband. I explained that I got everything from SKY and she said they would take my number off their list. It was quite a pleasant call with no hint of any hostility towards me. Let's see if they are true to their word. I will keep you updated. PS. Thanks for the link Kris.

I have been getting calls from them too recently. I store the number in my mobile as Spam along with all the other Spam numbers. I label them Spam1, Spam2 etc. Got five in my phone now. When they ring I just click the ignore or reject button.

yeah been called four times by this number in two days, expect for them to try again any time soon... at least if i catch it this time i will know what i'm dealing with. I hope it's just O2 coz i am on their network. Soooo thanks for the heads-up. :)

oh yeah and i tried calling back but it gave me this automated message saying: "this call is not free of charge from [UK?] moblies. Please remove the fist zero and try again" i didnt want to pay however much money it would cost me so i didnt try that. i reccommend that you dont do that either whoever they are could scam you for lots of ur credit!

Heres the low down on this number.
if you can, answer it. I did. I had just recently upgraded with 3 network when these guys called. They were from O2. They beat the 3 retention price by half! And threw in the Sony Xperia X1 to boot!

    I got 1200 minutes.
    2400 texts
    Free mobile internet
    Sony Xperia X1
    Free home broadband
    18 month contract
    £18 per month!
Thats half the price of 3 AND a better handset.

    Quality....so glad I answered!

    Sorted. Sweet.

Was called from ths number today, i was expecting another company to call me from an 0800 number so answered it and was greeted by an Irishman from o2. He asked which network I was with, contract or PAYG and how much I usually spend pe month. After telling him I was PAYG and last topped up with £5 about three months ago, he then asked if anyone else in the household used a mobile. When I said no he said ok and would phone back in the future to see if I was using the phone more.
Quite painless really and not pushy.

I had a missed call from this number and as i work nights quite often sleep thru calls, I was worried it was a bank so was glad to find out that it was just telemarketers, i am sad to have missed the call tho, i do enjoy seeing how long i can keep them talking, my record is about 40mins saying i have a contract and payg phone and spend around £1000 a month with 60 free mins, then confessing i had just stole the phone. It keeps me amused.
thanx to everyone who confirmed that this call was nothing to worry about.

Do what i do, when you get calls from these numbers, save them under an appropriate contact entry (i use the word 'BOLLOCKS') that way, when they ring again - you know to just ignore it.

Unfortunately, i used to work for a mobile network and know that numbers are age dependant and the 'number ranging' mentioned above does happen - its just business, however annoying it is - the thing to remember is that while the handset etc IS yours, the number (and its attached airspace) ISN@T - it belongs to the network, so technically they own it and can do what they like with it.

The corporate line does work sometimes, but the best way is get used to it and ignore them.
