Their REAL number is 01925 470 400 and it's stealthed to show up as 08000 641 087 on your Caller ID.  I don't know how they do this, but they do.  Caller ID shows the 08000 number, but when I ban the last caller (just after receiving this call), it shows as the 01925 number.  I banned both from calling me just to make sure.

If you Google the 01925 number, you'll also discover posts almost identical to the ones found on this page/number.

You have to ask yourself this question - if these people are honest, why do they find the need to disguise their true number.  Deception under any circumstances should always arouse suspicion.

It is illegal not to be on the electoral register (although whether you would actually be prosecuted/ fined is another matter...).  This is clearly stated on the form sent out to everyone each year by your local council to confirm who at that address should be on the electoral roll.

You can opt out of the edited register, which is the one marketeers use.  There is a box on the annual from that allows you to indicate which version of the electroal roll you want to be on.

Doing something that is illegal i.e. not appearing on the electoral roll, to avoid getting marketing calls seems dubious advice to me.

I would suggest that a phone call to your local council to check if you are on the edited register (and then asking to be removed from it if you are) might be a more legal course of action!

Had a unsolicited call from this number, couldn't hear what was being said and the phone contract is in my son's names but the caller was happy to talk to me and didn't make the connection that I am not a bloke so could not be the contract holder.  I was as work so ended the call.

This number has called me forty seven times in one week!

I am not with 02, never have been, I've been with Vodafone ever since. I have reported their number for harassment and hopefully they'll get the hint that I don't want to talk to them!!!!!!!!!!

    Idiots.

All started out nice, offering me better broadband and the guy Yasser (scouser) sounded friendly enough. He said he was calling from O2 but now i've found out he is acting on behalf of O2 it makes a bit more sense. It was all going smoothly until he asked for my card details, where I panicked and hung up.

I did have to actually do some work as well, and the phone convo was at least 20 mins so far.

he then called back about 4 times an hour and i finally gave in and said to myself it will be fine, I checked out a lot of the stuff he was on about, package details, prices, and it seemed legit.

he then got back to the card details question and I knew it's ok to give them out as long as you don't give out the 3 digit pin on the reverse.

And guess what HE [***] ASKED FOR THE 3 DIGIT PIN! I said sorry mate, I don't give that kind of info out/ you don't need to know that to set up a direct debit ([***] nose)

he then *passed* me onto his manager Marvin Hughes... hah he then confirmed everything again that Yasser had already said and didn't ask for the 3 digit pin...

So be careful these guys seem legit in that they are working for a real company but could be phishing for *extras* to sell on or some [***].

His opening banter was pure comedy (almost worth the hassle)

Y:Hi there ........ I see you are an O2 customer you have an iPhone

    me: yeh

Y: is it one of those 4gig ones, i mean 4Gs they are nice

    me: na a 3Gs

Y: amazing i prefer those anyway they are more ADAPTIVE (nooob?)

me: yeh i guess they are...

    geez

    Unknown caller.
I was charged for the call despite not answering it.  I have had recorded messages from marketing companies and am very wary about answering these calls.  Not happy about being charged for them.
