I somewhat regret handing over details now ... But i'm genuinely interested in upgrading the phone package i'm using now :p

Is there any real reason to suspect fraud? I checked with O2 and they told me these messages were backed by them ... I'll keep super close eye on my bank account anyway, but perhaps if I'm nice to them they won't cold-call me anymore ^_^

I have had loads of these as missed calls recently.
I am like Ray, just got a new handseet on Virgin pay as you go.
I can't believe that it is a coincidence...
Anyway, I'll just ignore them for now.
Is there any email address we can use for OFCOM?

hi , had calls from 08000641087, rang O2 up, if you ring 08000136671 you can stop this, do it from a landline its automated and they ask for you mobile number only. my o2 advisor did it to check on my behalf.

I have had quite a few calls now, from 08000641087. I didn't bother answering - It could get very annoying.

They've foned me twice in 24 hours i just send back a busy tone, I did as most of you did typed in the number of caller in google and first link brought me here.

I'm going into Carphone Warehouse to ask them about this if enough of us hassled our providers we should see some action.

i have received 2 calls in the last two days one at around 3pm the other at 12:30

Just got my first call from them, i hung up around when they started asking for my bank details

wont be answering them again no matter how much they try

and they have just rung again - is there someone we can report this - would offtel be interested?

got call several time from this number. my ph always on slient and never answer 0800 number but it's so annyoing.

yeah I have been called by this number, a bloke from northern ireland who sounds like a nice enough guy but its the same old aggressive sales technique, kept telling me he could send me a new sim card there and then, and that he had sent me an email to prove he was genuine. i don't like being rude to people but i think it might be best with these callers cos otherwise you never get off the phone!

Yep me too...now I know am not alone

I have only just started receiving calls from this number, 3 times since yesterday evening.  Done a google search and found you guys so will not be answering.  It does my head in when companies have this kind of access to your privacy so as far as i am concerned they can f**k right off!  Cheers for the advice.

They're LBC Direct Marketing, a company that poses as genuine ones (at the companys' bidding, apparently) to spam you with service offers:

I managed to answer mine, the guy talked for a while (very quickly, very convincingly) then asked for my postcode. That was when I hung up.
I'm morbidly curious what else he would have asked for. It sounded more like fraud than spam to me, but apparently they do it a lot and have received thousands of complaints. I recommend you join the ranks of protestors.

They ring me too. There is a Telphone Preference Service (TPS) that you can sign up to for free on the Internet which will disallow all companies from making unsolicited calls to your number. I myself havnt tried it but it supposedly works.
