This is a BT scamline.

Decided to leave bt for another provider. They should'nt be allowed to cold call. If the service had been adequate I would'nt have left!!

I found this on another web site!   Please read>.................. if BT had done something about it, it would not still be happening.....

At 08:55 today I received a phone call from 0800 169 1608. An Automated message was left purporting to be from BT and prompting me to press numbers on my keypad I.e. if I was the Account holder press 1 etc. As I was concerned it could be something important, I tried to recall the number but connected to another automated message again purporting to be from BT and that if required, they would ring back. After Googling the phone number I became suspicious and contacted BT directly to see if they had any knowledge about calling me. They informed me that it was not BT, it was a SCAM call and to email them at dcrex@bt.com with the details. According some entries on Google this scammier is trying to obtain Account details and God knows whatever else ! This afternoon I received a call back from the Real BT reassuring me that it was definately not them calling earlier and that they would be carrying out an investigation and would recontact me again in a few days time.

BT Internet went down last week due to electrical storms.A bit of research turned up an 0800 phone number so I called it. The amount of areas out and sure enough there was our town, 4 days later we were still out.But being soooooo busy they can call you back later when every thing is sorted.Hence this number.

This number seems to cover a multitude of inter-related (B T business) services and you never know what the flavour of the day. One day it seems genuine the next Spam etc

Scam call saying they are from BT 08001691608 there not as what is strange I rang it back and put 14108001691608 and it still said it was trying to ring me how could they they wouldn't of had my number block at all costs

As a Scots lass i too was a little offended by the comment about the accent. Bt sales are a pain in the posterior but no need to down the Scottish accent, be it posh or working class.

this number called my mobile, automated message about taking over my line? must be getting old as I selected option 1 to speak to someone. Beth from BT announced herself, I asked again if she was at BT. was then told someone had applied to take over my landline?? foolishly I confirmed my address and land line. put on hold then told there was no record of this so must be a glitch. when I queried them calling my mobile I was told it was on my account as a contact number (which it is). now on hold to BT proper (38minutes so far)

UPDATE it really was BT and it really was a glitch, unless someone gave their mobile number incorrectly

ITS BT as i have just decided yesterday to switch to SKY as the have a better deal they our trying to i expect to offer me a better deal have been with bt for a very long time good deals for new clients but not for old ones good bye bt.

get loads of calls from 08001691608 just spoke to bt they do not know that number

It's BT, and its because your late paying your bill.

I believe it's BT Mobile technical team from good old India

Just checked first reported on 25th Feb 2015, now on 15th Nov 2016 the number called me. Quite obviously a long on-going SCAM, how many people need to be SCAM-ed before BT, OFCOM or the government does something about it. Organisations and the government are giving the platforms to do wrong and illegal acts, therefore they are equally responsible and should be taken to court, for NOT protecting the public.

08001691608. British Telecom late payment department. I double checked with BT and realised I should have paid my bill on the 16th of December. Hence the reminder call from BT. However, they don't go about it in the right way. Message sounds like a scam, even tho' its genuine.

It's BT or better known as b***** T******* service.
I changed my package and decided to pay when the bill comes instead of the dreaded DD.Since then they keep calling to tell me its cheaper to have DD.the days have gone when cash ruled.Its all part of the plan to do away with cash and tie us all down to banks.I am waiting for my contract to end and then i am leaving BT for ever.

I don't think it is a late payment department as my bill is not due until 5th jan and they are calling me.Its 2nd today.
