I get this number ring frequently during the day, I pick it up and there's no one there then after about 10 seconds the line goes dead....very very annoying!!

Been getting calls from this number about 3 times a day for well over a week now, I've never bothered answering them but they are really annoying.
Thought i'd type the number into google to see if the name of any companies came up so seeing all these comments are very helpful, I'll know just to block the number now. Thanks

These muppets have been calling twice a day for some time now, so I've programmed my PBX to dial out to the same number then bridge the call. They can speak to themselves. (and pay for it twice).

I had 3 calls from this number over the last week. Luckily missed them each time. Glad I didn't answer it. Thanks for making me aware of what's going on.

Glad I googled the number and found all these helpful comments - I just hold the receiver aloft so that it costs them more for their trouble!! - and I will try multiple pressing of the hash sign in the hope that it does interfere with their system!!

I've had 3 calls from this number today, none of which I've answered. I wish there was a free way of blocking certain telephone numbers so that their number (08003 896818) can never call your number again. Or at least a way to silence the ring on your phone, whenever that number calls you, so that you're unaware of it.

0800 3896818 called at 18:20 tonight and I was told there is a SALE at DEBENHAMS starting tomorrow.  A bit weird.  Why did they call?  It is the 1st time Debenhams called me regarding the SALE.  If it is actually them.  HMMMMMM

For those unaware, The Listening Company is a company based in Portsmouth who handle telephone-based, usually telemarketing, campaigns for many other companies.

They are a legit company, however they are also widely known in Portsmouth as having some terrible employees. It's possible that they're working on behalf of your phone company or bank, but most likely that they're simply trying to sell something.

2 rings on my mobile couple of minutes ago - wasn't able to answer in time.

Have been getting this number ring my mobile 2 times a day/night for over a week now. Have not answered once but they just keep ringing... it's bloody annoying

Have had repeated calls from this number for a couple of weeks now, calling at all hours in the day. Answered it once and they hung up after about 4 seconds. Will try the hash thing and see if it works.

I've had this number call me a few times recently - I have not answered it and after reading these comments, have added it to the reject list on my mobile.

These ppl keep callin me and hassling me and don't even talk. they just hang up and its annoyin! They called me abt 10 times in the last few days. Who the hell are they?????

I am A service professional, They are not Nuisance calls or Cold calls, we are governed by the DPA(data protection act) and FSA(financial service authorities) and also FOS(financial ombudsmen service). We would not contact you unless you have something in relation. If you ask the Agent very nicely to remove you from the system they will do so for you. Please note if you just hang up or ignore the call it is an automatic dialling system and will keep going through until they speak to the DMC(decision making customer). and we are not calling to hang up and annoy you that would lose us money its probably an error with the phones and it will cut out if you dont answer in time. And the Hash Button thing doesnt work it just goes into the system as a call back and dialling out the same number doesnt work either. If you just speak to them nicely im sure they will remove youre number. Just keep that in mind were not all horrible people just doing our job and earning money like every one else manners realy help. Cheers Guys Jim

Just noticed this number called while I was out last night and didn't leave a message. I don't have a connection with any of the companies this company seems to reperesent according to the posts on here.  I'm also a member of TPS so I'm sorry Jimbo but I disagree when you say these are not nuisance or cold calls. If this was a reputable company my number would be on their calls list in the first place as I'm a member of TPS.  So I should NOT have to ask the operator politely or othewise to remove me.  Next time someone phones when I am at home I will answer and be polite but if I get any more phone calls after that I will not even try to be polite. I DO NOT wish to be contacted by call centres for any reason unless it involves financial irregularities on my bank account or it is in response to a specific enquiry from me.  When will these people get the message?

and he asked for a D.Barnett i said that there was two d.Barnetts in the house and he said ok for data protection he cant confirm the first name wich is bollcoks  cuz ive delt with data protection.
he was from something international,
class A [***]

call 08000324617 and press one when the lady answermachine thingy starts talking,
and it removes your name from their system

Barnett that was probably Affinion International Limited which is one of the companys in The Listening Company and we cant say the first name and postcode because it is one of the Data Protection Questions we need to ask to confirm we are speaking to the right person. If any one doesnt believe this is a legit company go on our website it will give you more information!!!! It has alot of companys inside some of which are MBNA Bank, Tmobile, Affinion, SKY, BT, Microsoft, and alot more!!!!! Dont be alarmed if you ask nicely that you dont want to be contacted that will be it we are people not robots!!!
