    Jimbo u are an r'sole

who gave you (or your employees) the right to hassle anyone)
get a life, don't preach about having a job and "just" earning money

You have got some b*lls trying to justify screwing peoples life up with these unwanted, unwarranted shee ite calls.

How can you call yourself a professional, YOU ARE NOT, dream on sunny!!!!

    (YOUR COMEDY MESSAGE)
I am A service professional, They are not Nuisance calls or Cold calls, we are governed by the DPA(data protection act) and FSA(financial service authorities) and also FOS(financial ombudsmen service). We would not contact you unless you have something in relation. If you ask the Agent very nicely to remove you from the system they will do so for you. Please note if you just hang up or ignore the call it is an automatic dialling system and will keep going through until they speak to the DMC(decision making customer). and we are not calling to hang up and annoy you that would lose us money its probably an error with the phones and it will cut out if you dont answer in time. And the Hash Button thing doesnt work it just goes into the system as a call back and dialling out the same number doesnt work either. If you just speak to them nicely im sure they will remove youre number. Just keep that in mind were not all horrible people just doing our job and earning money like every one else manners realy help. Cheers Guys Jim

Jimbo Do you not read the other comments from this site? your company is ringing these people 2,3, sometimes 4 times a day. And some people are disabled and cannot get to the phone too quickly? and you say you are doing no harm? wake up sonny. If some one is registered with TPS it's because they do not want this type of call?

Quote from Jimbo "TPS stops cold calls therefore if were calling you its not a cold call and how in the world are we screwing any ones life up were nt giving you diseases or starting wars. We are asking for a few minutes of youre time to maybe offer you something beneficial to you. all you have to say is IM NOT INTERESTED and that would be it."

I am NOT interested in being offered anything I haven't asked for in advance, no matter how good a deal it is and no matter whether I am an existing customer or not.  That is cold calling. That is why I am a member of TPS!

This number has just called me again while I was doing a work out and I missed it but no message was left so it's obviously NOT important. I had to interrupt my work out in case it was my mum (who is 84) needing help with something. That would have been important.

Regarding comments from Jimbo, I have had this call twice (trying to sell me somthing because I have a JJB card) and I stated I WAS NOT INTERESTED and I was badgered and made to feel guilty because I did not want to take advantage.  God help the next person that rings me as my patience has run out.

Yet another call from the Listening Company on behalf of BT,this really p****s me off,as I have TPS and am Ex-directory.If these people are reall calling on behalf of BT,BT should have their franchise removed, and maybe they would abide by their own Privacy regs!!

Been getting calls from this number, 0800 389 6818, asking for me by name and refusing to speak to my husband or tell him what it was about, for the past week or so while I've been at work.  Answered the call myself this evening, sounded like a call centre, and the caller claimed to be from the Abbey National Credit Card Fraud Office.  Refused to tell me what the call was about until I'd gone through some 'security questions'.  Declined to give him any information, saying it was an unsolicited call and I wasn't about to give personal info over the phone when I couldn't be sure who I was speaking to.  He said he could confirm my address and last 4 digits of my credit card number, but only after I'd given him some personal info to confirm my identity.  When I still refused, he said he'd get a colleague to speak to me to reassure me, then the line went dead.  Rang Abbey National straight away, they said they don't make calls like this.  Very worrying. Makes you feel kind of vulnerable.

have had this number ring me every day for at least 4 weeks at least 4 times a day... havn't answered as I screen all my calls, once the ansaphone cuts in they just go quiet and hang up.... so bloody annoying though when you are in the middle of something important and jump up to see who is calling, especially as the father in law is very ill in hospital.... surely there must be a law against what basically boils down to harrasment...  have just tried the number removal lets see how that goes

I just had a call and there was noone at the other end. i'm fortunate enough to have a block number list on my phone so they wont get thru again. I wont call them back for the simple fact it's not free to call 0800 numbers from mobiles - i'm not getting charged to get them to harrass me!! If they dont stop i suggest reporting it to your service provider as they have the ability to block calls from some numbers.

Ok, as there seems to be a number of people who are citing the TPS as a reason not to recieve calls from The Listening Company, here is an explanation of what TPS is, from the TPS website:

"It is the official central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales or marketing calls."

    However:
"Organisations with which you have an ongoing relationship, for example those who regard you as a customer, (or in the case of charities - a donor) may well gather your consent during the early stages of your relationship with them and will therefore be entitled to call you even if your number is registered on TPS, unless you have previously told them specifically that you object to them calling you for marketing purposes."

If a company has your consent to call you (for example Affinion International call people with Debenhams, Burton, Top Man cards as those companies have an agreement with Affinion), then TPS does not come into effect. This will probably be in the small print of whatever contracts you have with them. The Listening Complany are then given your data by these companies to call you on their behalf.

I get so annoyed with all these companies that get hold of numbers and just bombard you with calls.  I never pick up the landline unless I'm expecting a call, I just assume anyone who wants to talk to me will leave a message.  I wanted to say thanks for this site, as at least I can get my number off this list!  I've rung the unsubscribe number, I wait with baited breath!  Also, I wanted to say to Jimbo, understand how annoying it is to get these calls, nobody with any sense will give personal details to an unsolicited caller, and you say about manners, well that works both ways, and hanging up because the 'wrong' person answered doesn't smack of good manners to me.

Just received a call on my landline.  Just silence despite a couple of "Hellos" from me.  I hung up on them.

I'll be keeping an eye on this site to see if anyone reports the opt out as legitimate before I potentially reaffirm my existinence to them.

    I'm also on TPS btw.

If you have received a call from this number(which is a marketing company) then dial 08000324617 follow the voice prompts and you can remove your number from receiving further sales and marketing calls.

    Hope this helps

I think you will all find that the 0800 numbers that you keep getting pestered with are a marketing co. called "The Listening Company"
Floor 4 Enterprise House, Isambard Brunel Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire,PO1 2AN.
Tel #023 9294 2100. they claim to represent? Orange Mobile, Sky TV, O2, BT, MBNA, T mobile, The AA, Affinion, Microsoft, and now the Daily Mail? maybe they do but I think that these companies should be made aware of the trouble they are causing
