- Ian Davies replies to simiJust had a call from 0800 3896818 claiming to be from E.oN and saying they could save me some money on my central heating system. I told them I didn't believe that they were from E.oN not least because E.oN know not to phone me at home, and so I said that if he was from E.oN (my utility supplier) that he could write to me at the address that they hold on their records. So foiled again! Will also report to E.oN for good measure.
- BullfrogPicked up a message from my works answering machine from 08003896818. Call was made on 9 Jun 11 at 5.15p.m. The message left sounded like the people were having a party - possibly with the TV on and a dog in the background. I should not be getting messages of this type as I am not allowed to give my phone number out and will be passing the 'message' further up the chain at work.

They do a lot of work for other companies, credit cards, MBNA, Sky, EON, 3 Mobile, Prudential.
Basically to put it in its simplest terms some companies choose to use our call centres for there businesses as we are able to staff the companies needs. Rather than employ staff themselves to deal with large numbers of phonecalls - incoming calls and outgoing calls. Yes the same number is used for all outbound calls and a lot of people seem suspicious as we are claiming to be lots of different companies, some campaigns have to tell you that its actually the Listening Company when we phone, but some clients choose to allow our staff to say we are XXX company as we are phoning customers in relation about accounts they already hold a lot of the time.
We have a massive staff number all over the UK, and have also now joined forces with Serco.

We also have a large number of inbound calls, I work for the Listening Company and have done for 7 years, I take applications for people who ring in to us for a credit card.
Please remember if our company calls you there are procedures to take you off the telephone lists, just ask and please be polite we are only doing what we are told and trying to work. - ClareI answered a call from this number last week (on my mobile). They claimed to be from MBNA and wanted to tell me all about some rubbish MBNA are peddling (I've ignored most of their letters!). I told him it wasn't convenient to talk (I was trying to work!). he was really aggressive in saying "when can we talk to you". I told him after 7pm. Not a further peep out of them til today. thankfully I wasn't anywhere near my phone when they rang today. I'll ignore them if they call again.

- JoBeen getting calls from this number for weeks - usually around lunchtime or teatime - dead line then it rings them back & a voice says "the other person has cleared" - getting rght on my nerves.
Similar to another comment on here, we did have one call recently claiming to be Sky & asking what make of tv we had ????? they knew our address which bothered me, are these people stealing to order perhaps. Paranoid I know but had enough.- Caller: If only I knew
- Chris replies to PatriciaThe Listening Company is an customer communications outsourcer based in Richmond, Portsmouth, Tonbridge, Newcastle, Manchester, Westminster, Glasgow, Brora, Cardiff & Bognor Regis. It is a legitimate organisation whose clientèle include such organisations as Sky, Orange, Bank of America, O2, Chelsea TV, Nintendo, Volvo and the list goes on. The number '0800 389 6818' is a central number set up so they are Ofcom compliant. If you have received a call for an advisor working under their many campaigns then you would be better of looking up that company's customer service to call back unless given a specific number to call.
Oh and I'd ignore the advice of "giving them a taste of their own medicine" and calling the "free phone number" as a former employee of TLC I can tell you that rather than stick it to the man you will be in fact annoying one member of security manning the front desk!

The switchboard operator took my phone number and name and told me my details would be removed.

They dock £20 - £100 per week (EVERY week, without fail - £150 this week) from my partners pay weekly, they change managerial decisions retrospectively, they mess with his hours without telling him so he doesn't know whether he's coming or going, they bully him, they bully and harass customers, one of his managers physically gets in his face, they tell him that they know he can't afford to leave his job and use this as a threat to keep quiet, they over-rule one of his manager's decisions after he has carried out an instruction and subsequently loses yet more of his wage, HR and payroll refuse to respond to his queries, a member of HR actually laughed at him when trying to sort out his pay, the head of payroll had to be taken off his payroll account as it was proven that she was illegally docking wages, yet no explanation, no breakdown of wages as requested numerous times and most of all, no reimbursement of wages docked, they do not give him his payslip until after the initial pay day - sometimes over a week late and have been sent to the wrong address several times and there seems to be missing information from the pay slips.
With this amount of illegal activity going on, how are The Listening Company still operating?! Why doesn't anyone seem to do anything about it? (ACAS said there was little they could do as he hadn't worked there a full year - as if anyone actually lasts that long, and why should that matter?!) We have now had to move into cheaper accommodation due to the constant pay docking. Can somebody PLEASE HELP?! - SteveJust had a call from this number. No message left. Called the number back and it was a dead line.

- Hollyjokes| 1 replyI got a call from the number 0800 389 6818 and dialled it back, it's sirco listings and if you phone 0800 032 4617 you can take your name off the phone list either by phoning from the phone that got the nuisance call or from a pay phone and type your number in :)

- Truth Teller replies to Some1| 1 replyThis is true, the present Management of The Listening Compay Manchester is Chaotic, Corrupt an Bullying- constant moving of goalposts, retrospective decisions, threats of physical violence- which goes unchecked if the lady concerned carries the Managers bags! Crazy shift patterns and the abuse of decent staff by inadequated spiteful Managers who may or may not be involved in a relationship with a certain Human Resource manager. The office is inefficient and inadequate- there are hardly ever any managers to help you, or if so they will be "busy" or unavailable when staff are- leading to issues being unresolved and problems escalating which ultimately the staff are blamed for the inadequacies of managers. Progression is the office is based on Servitude, sycophancy and ones sexual orientation- not ability. Staff and customers- in this case catalogue customers with Shop Direct Group- Littlewoods, Kays, Isme are treated like Cattle! Eg when customers have issues the general view is " wel they should'nt have a catalogue" or " it's there fault for not going to a shop" ! Helping customers is frowned on and discoraged. It is run like a farm, and decent people are ground down, bullied, broken and threatened, with no recourse as a large clique of same-sex relationship " mafia" run the place in favour of people of that persuasion with characteristic spite and venom, that is to say rude and spiteful and condescending to those not of their persuasion, but soft tongued, pleasant and polite to those who are! This is Positive Discrimination gone mad. To treat other human beings with such disgraceful contempt in the midst of the Deepest recession in living memory in an Abomination. They Listen, but they DO NOT HEAR! Loyalty is rewarded with contemt, helping our customers is frowned upon and I despair for any decent people hoping to progress within this organisation, for I have told the Truth, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

But all said is true for, example you may have a problem with a shift weeks in advance you go to find a manager - they are busy, then you are told to get back on the phones because of aht's- average handling time! You look for a manager in your time there are none! Problems go unresolved and unaddressed then of course it is Your Fault- managers do not manage! They crack the whip and generally get out of doing any work- usually busy discussing their affairs, gossiping or planning nights out! it is a shambles - urgent requests for customers go unanswered or grossly delayed because of the concentration of certain aspects of communication vis customer issues in a handful of staffs remit- but at least two of these people are ineffectual and inadequate. There is a certain member of staff who Harrasses and interferes with other staff, speaks to customers and staff like dirt, and talks about customers as if they are simpletons and will not help them- this person physically threatens staff and screams abuse at them- but goes unpunished! More to come!
