MBNA/ virgin credit card company calling because i recently transferred money away from them and they wanted to "give me a better offer"

Seriously people, stop being so paranoid!!

The listening company are an outsourced service provider who do work for a number of major companies.

As you can see, a number of major companies! No great conspiracy theory, a large number of companies outsource work nowadays

If you dont want anymore calls, follow the removal instructions.  They do action the requests.

Bloody irritating but just had the satisfaction of registering with the telephone prefeence service to stop this sh*t

well, I hope that Chris's registering with TPS has the desired effect but if our experience is anything to go by, it won't. We have been registered with TPS and FPS for years now and STILL get both calls and faxes at all hours of night and day. And not just occasionally, there can be several in a day. It's fine in theory having TPS/FPS but if observance of the Codes is voluntary, it sort of defeats the objective. The big companies who use this caller service must know about TPS/FPS but they chose to ignore the Code.
Where do we go from here? These calls drive us mad and they must at times seriously worry the old or those living alone.

I received a call from The Listening Company today asking me about my credit card. I, like many others, thought this was very strange so I called the credit card company they were claiming to be calling on behalf of, and my credit card comoany assured me they had heard of this company, and were aware calls were being made to its customers. I was happy with this response, and would advise if you are in any doubt, follow up the call. If i hadnt, I would never have got an excellent deal!

Continuous phone calls, rings then music, have been hanging up. Reported to my phone company - suggested i register my phone with www.tpsonline.org.uk then after 28 days these calls should cease.

Your knowledge indicates that you do indeed work for the Listening Company. I would have thought that with 23 pages of complaints where you are calling some people at odd times, multiple times etc

Maybe you could actually be the Listening Company and listen to these complaints instead of telling them not to be so paraniod. Please tell me why should a customer have to go through a set of actions to stop receiving calls they never said they wanted in the first place???

Yes they may not have opted out but they never really opted in, did they??

The Listening Company appear to be deaf to the customers as long as they do what the clients want.

Silent call from this number, despite being TPS registered, etc. It's from the 'Listening Company' who make calls on behalf of several clients (see previous comments for list)

Phone 0800 032 4617 and you can have your number automatically removed from their database. Can take up to 24 hours apparently...

Have had a call from this number everyday for about the last month.  I never answer as it is an unknown 0800 number and they never leave a message.  Even though I never answer, it is still very irritating.  I have called the number people suggested to remove my number from their call list and they say it can take up to 24 hours.  We will see if in the next few days I thankfully won't receive any calls.  Heres hoping......

I requested a ringback from Sky TV sales, and this number called me on behalf of them. Although the number hasn't coldcalled, the customer representative was rude and nasty on the phone when I told him i'd think about it. After he told me that the Sky offer would be invalid if I didn't accept there and then, I told him i'd shop around, so hung up.

Have been receiving calls from this number now for about 6 weeks (ie August 2009 to 22 September 2009).  Probably about 4 per week at around the same time 1700 - 1800.

I rang the 0800 number two weeks ago and was promised my details would be removed, but it seems like a lot of promises on this site, it has clearly been ignored.

Some guy called 'Michael' responded on this site claiming the caller was a reputable company.  Sorry buddy, but if this company is reputable, and I presume you work for them (*?), then God help anybody who comes across an unreputable one.

Might I suggest, whilst I am still able to do so calmly, to bu**er off when told to do so and leave me alone..!!!

Just dialled a 'Robot' on the 0800 number (I got a live (I think it was alive anyway...) person last time), and asked for my number to be removed... again.

The choking noise you can hear is me holding my breath...

They keep calling me, no one there, just silence. Then they hang up. I suspect it's one of those numbers that calls to see if anyone answers to data cleanse contact lists.

Caller hangs up as soon as you answer the phone. This is very annoying and some folk may ring it back and be scammed.  These companies should be blocked from doing this.

Answered then after 4 seconds hung up...?? only once and hope it stays that way.

They called and said they were from Bank Assyria or something like that and asked to speak to my husband.  I told them they had got the Ass part right and put the phone down.

I say we organise to meet these people and turn up with pitch forks and burning torches!! Revenge is so sweet!!

Called the removal number a few days ago. No real surprise that they are still calling. Telemarketing should be outlawed. Tossers.
