Just took a call from this number, from a guy named Oliver with an American accent, saying he was from Virgin Media.  Knew it was dodgy when he wanted to go straight into 'what are the first and third letters in your security code?'!  As soon as I queried the validity of the call, he offered his employee number as proof, saying i could check with Virgin Media, although this offer lost credibility when he then immediately started asking 'security questions'!  I pointed out the joke of the whole call - he's called me, but then asked me to prove I am said customer!  You really worry about the impact of these calls on vulnerable consumers

this is a scam!! could not tell me second person on account or our address or what package we have, but wanted me to tell them!! never had a call from a bank or an insurance company asking for all my details. in the end i told them i was reporting to police and they just calmly try and convince you it really is virgin. No information on my email account with virgin. ultimately they require your bank details! tell them to take a running jump not everyone in england is that stupid!!

Got a call at 14:24 Saturday 26th May. Don''t they know there is an important football match on today. It's not the first either it started a few months ago.  They asked for my password - some people may fall for it luckily i'm not one of them. Just wish theyd stop pesterring me. If it is Virgin as they say they have my land line as I am already a customer - also if it is Virgin can Richard do something about it. It is his comapny supposedly.

For the past week i've been getting calls on my mobile at least 3 times a day. I just ignore now cos i don't know how else to be rid of them. They don't say anything when i did answer the first few times. More than likely scammers but i am also fearing the fact that it could be those sort of calls where you are footing the bill :/
    • Caller: scammers i reckon

I too had a call (the 4th time the number has called me this week) supposed to be from Virgin  - they wanted information about my password which I would not give.  The caller had VERY broken English and said she wanted to upgrade my service and how did I pay my bills  I told her that if she wanted to upgrade the service just do it, and that Virgin already know how I pay my bills.  I do not like or want this sort of call and suggested they contacted me by email in future.

Virgin media sales, rings my mobile several times a day.  When I don't answer they let it jump to my answerphone then don't leave any message.  Thus costing me a call to my voicemail to clear my notifications!

Missed call. Everyone seems to think it's Virgin Media. I recently cancelled my Virgin Media as moving house and didn't leave a forwarding address (to avoid postal junk mail). However I did say that I'm moving in with someone who has Virgin Media....but clearly doesn't stop them calling!!!
Time to change number I think........

Oh, and I also had a Voicemail of just noise for 5 seconds. So I've paid for the privilege of picking that up. Thanks!!

Hi, They have my number and call about once a day, BUT I have a china phone F003, that has some very good tricks up it's sleave, I am able to black list numbers so it all ways enganged, beter still I can get it to auto play sounds and recording to any number I tell it to, and have it loop play it untill they hang up,  I have a good recording were I am saying Yes, No, thats good, then talking about my pets making all sorts of sounds, and about my Holls, God it even drives me mad when I listen to it.
If you dont have any option on your phone like this ask them to call you back on your other phone, and give them your M8s number or the local CID, MP, County Court, any body you can think of who you want to pi** off.

Possibly Phillipines call centre with English as very poor second or probably third language. Very strong US twang. Said he was from Virgin Media, but asked me to verify my password.for him. Classic mistake, friend.

They called me, so my immediate reaction is one of roll reversal. I asked him first to verfify fourth and eighth digit of my Virgin account number.

He said that he did not have that data. He was calling me on my Virgin land line and did not know my account number? Guilty in one counter-interogation. That was not in his pre-prepared script. He tried again going back to page one of the script. That was the second indication that this was far from being bone fide

Therefore international criminal phishing as far as I am concerned, and I told him so. Perhaps Richard Branson is troubled by this same call centre? Or perhaps he does not have a Virgin land line?

TPS does nothing to intercept these troublesome overseas call centres. They are simply paper tigers in my book.
    • Caller: international criminals, possibly?

I've just reported this to Virgin after receiving a call from this number today.
Apparently it will be passed to the relevant department and investigated as my argument is that they should do something in case genuine vulnerable Virgin media customers are contacted by these scammers.
