Got a call from this number at 7am this morning. Trying to tell me to reschedule a parcel delivery; I am waiting for a parcel. However, found that this is a complete scam. Number blocked.

Had a call from this number, it's SMS alerts from BT so not a scam.

I had a message from PayPal and eBay confirming I had amended my details and it came through as a text as I selected my home number instead of my mobile by mistake. If you call it back it's BT asking you to visit their BT SMS Calling Feature web page. If you're waiting for a parcel they probably have your home number and an automated text is sent out regarding delivery times etc.

As with anything like this, instead of just ruling it a scam contact BT for free and they will confirm it is them who issue the service. It's not their fault if someone contacts you at 2am or 4am by text, they just deliver the alert as your mobile does as it comes through.

This number ring us late at night, wake the children and there is no one on the other end. We have telephone preference service and still get nuisance calls!

If you are x-directory, you need to put 1470 before 08005875252 which takes you to the BT SMS service, then listen to the options. I was on the line for about 45 seconds, and it offers a choice to stop text messages being received, choose OPTN 5, effective within 20 minutes........THANKS ALL FOR THE INFO!!!

surely something can be done to stop this type of call perhaps the so called prime minister David Cameron could slope of to Berlin and ask his controller A. Merkle for permission totake action on this,or anything else really?

The company selling your details is be fancy ltd..they sell thousands of details about your address.phone numbers Etc try calling them ask to have your details to be removed on 0207 038 8299

4 times today. Really fed up with this intrusion.

We are with Virgin, not BT, but we still get SMS messages directed to our land line via this number. They used to ring at all hours of the day and night; and I thought I had opted out of this some time ago by ringing one of the numbers given on the Virgin booklet I had downloaded.

But obviously they have now chosen to disregard my preference, because we had another batch of "messages" today: each time it says press 1 to listen to the message, but when I do there is no message. This happened several times, and eventually it did replay a synthesized voice ... from the power company apologising for a power cut that we hadn't had! They seem to think it is "customer service", but to me it's a complete pain in the [***].

the number is bt text message service not a scam, but the texts could be depending whose sending them i stopped listening to them usually marketing or debt collectors claiming i owe them money finally i phoned 0800 587 5252 bt text options have just  used option 5 stop text messages

This number called at 1140 hrs. on  1/10/2014 . Uninteligable message  on a very noisy line. Kept playing over and over again.  Confounded nuisance.

BT SMS service...

If you call the number back it tells you that you have been called by the above and to contact your telephone provider for more information. I opted out of SMS to my landline quite a few years ago so I don't understand why they have started up again??!! It's highly annoying, they call repeatedly and at ridiculous hours too!! Who wants SMS to their landlines when 90% of the population have mobiles these days??!!

Not impressed BT...pull your finger out!!!

Frequently just two rings on the phone, no message on answerphone, silence. Infuriating!
