I had a missed call on my mobile plus a voicemail, I could hear breathing, quiet back ground clatter and whispering of the word “yes” a noise like someone blowing their nose,

Didn't answer the call, even though my mobile had Sky ID on the screen. Never had a call from them in the 6 years I've been a customer. Thought "They must be  trying to sell me something"!

I called this number back as it’s been calling my partner there was an option to remove him from the calling list when I called the number provided 08000832084 it then requires you to give information about yourself after each beep!!! (Name / dob/ address/ ect ect… sorry but no way !! Any time I have had to remove details from a calling list it’s usually a message like no  or you just enter your phone number to be removed!! Why do they need all that personal info to remove you from their company !!! Super dodgy if you ask me !!!

Claiming to be domestic and general on behalf of sky googled the number whilst on the phone and it’s a scam number. Told him I’m not interested and was overly friendly so he would **** off the line.

This caller said he was from sky & wanted to tell me about some updates that were put on my sky yesterday. Then he wanted me to answer some security questions. I said that as he knew my phone number & my name I didn't need to answer security questions for him to tell me about updates that I can find out about myself! I think he was a bit taken aback but said okay and ended the call. Might be just a nuisance marketing call but hard to tell.

Man using this number called me this morning. Asked to speak with Miss D, and I said yes that's me and he said that he's calling from Sky Stream & explained that it was some kind of courtesy call to check that I was using the full benefits of my Sky Stream subscription. I'll be honest, I did not suspect a single thing because he sounded very polite and professional. Also, he knew that I was a Sky Stream customer and that I had Cinema as part of my subscription & he said things about the call being recorded etc so it all sounded pretty genuine.

I stayed on the phone while he checked with me that I knew about Paramount+, Discovery & 2 free cinema tickets you get every month with Sky Cinema. I said yes, I know about all of this. He then started to mention Domestic & General and how with Sky I can get 3 months' free cover for devices at home (televisions, laptops, mobile phones, tablets) before I can then cancel afterwards if I'd like. I said that I hadn't heard of this & he asked me if I'd like to sign up for this. I said yes, sure, and next thing I know he's checking my address with me. He asked me what the first line of my address & postcode is for my Glasgow address (which I stupidly gave him) and then took me through a process of registering myself for the Domestic & General cover. He asked me what items I have, their prices when bought and when they were bought. He was very interested in my mobile phone & asked me to give him my IMEI number that shows under settings on my phone. This I found very strange and started to get me worried because I had a bad feeling about it so I said that no I'd not be giving this. He said that's fine & I can just get cover for the items I've mentioned to him already. He then started to read out some terms and conditions before then asking if my bank account is my own and a UK one. When I said yes to both of these, there was a long silence before the call cut off. So he didn't get any bank details from me & there was no call back from him.

I telephoned Sky later in the day & they confirmed that no-one had called me from Sky. So, this was definitely a fraudulent call, but I do wonder why the man never stuck around for my bank details, which I'm sure would have been a big plus for a scammer like him. I asked Sky if they could explain how this man knew I was a Sky customer with Cinema, but they said that it's likely a good guess and starting point for the telephone call. Maybe if I'd have said that I didn't have Sky the man might have tried to take my details and pretend to register me for Sky when he actually wasn't. I think as well that if I'd have said I didn't know about Paramount+ or Discovery the call could have went another direction to still get some information from me. He also said that Sky Cinema benefits like Paramount+, Discovery etc are all on the Sky website for anyone to view & likely that the man was using that information to sound genuine as though from Sky.

When I called the telephone number back later in the day, an automatic message says that I'm calling 'Domestic & General Insurance Plc on behalf of Sky' and says that they might call me back but if I want I can call another number 08004970757 so that I can cancel future calls. I'm definitely not calling that number as who knows what will happen next. & btw the IMEI number attached to your mobile phone is not to be given to anyone - anyone that needs to know it would already know it, such as you and your mobile phone provider. Just in case anyone reading this didn't know this.
