Receiving 2 to 3 calls a day from this number, but havn't answered the call as I do not recognise the number. Pleased that I read this site and found out that it is scammers. Will look into having the number blocked.

I too got this call and was very worried. However, a quick look at Ofcom confirmed that all numbers starting with 08080 are owned by Vodafone Ltd (see the spreadsheet here http://www.ofcom.org.uk/telecoms/ioi/numbers/numbers_administered/#special and select the "download 08 numbers" link)

I've had loads of calls from this number and am also with Vodaphone. They must be selling our details off or not protecting our data from dodgy memebers of staff. Great service, huh?

If you look at the Ofcom list, the number is owned by Vodafone, and therefore the call is from Vodafone. No scam, no selling info, no lost data.... albeit some worrying stories.

I received two calls today from this number - one at lunchtime, and one after 6pm. I have ignored it both times.

they accidentily left me a voicemail message the other day saying "what a stupid answer--" ...sounded like he was about to belittle my voicemail message :(

Received calls from this number a few times now - i too am on Vodafone. I rarely answer them but i did today because ive been expecting a phone call from a business line (even though i know it would come up as private number) and just now i answered it incase it was from who i thought it was.
However i answered and didnt here anything from the other end, googled it and low and behold its a dodgy scam line.
Cant people like this just die or summit lol

been rang 26 times within 10 days from 08080000133 number - didnt answer any of them calls - and hey from today am receiving calls from the 08080000144 number - very strange - Am with Voda true - and send them couple weeks ago my termination letter - got reply from them saying its ok that they will terminate my contract and just in case I will change my mind I could ring them - not that they will keep ringing me! Just cnt wait till my contact expiers!

THIS IS VODAPHONE I RECIVED THE PHONE TODAY AND THEY DINT ASK A CREDIT CARD NUMBER THEY ADDED IT TO MY ORIGINAL CONTRACT BILL

Just had a call off these myself,this time said they were orange, again couldnt tell me anything about myself and wouldn't speak to me about anything at all unless i gave all details. One concurrent theme is we are all on Vodafone?

Are you a human or an idiot... IT IS VODAFONE Therefore they have your details.  IT IS NOT AN OUTSIDE COMPANY READ MY PREVIOUS POSTS PLEASE.  Ring 191 and ask them if this number is vodafone they will tell you yes...  you will look like a prat

lo and behold its a dodgy scam.... there is no point in doing any research if you didnt read the evidence, ring 191 and ask them if the number is them, they will tell you yes! Idiot !

Jesus Wept!  Of course the concurrent theme is we are on Vodafone.  Do you think that would have something to do with the fact that its vodafone calling maybe and some irresposible idiots have posted at the begining its a scam with out any evidence ...  CALL 191 and ask them if the number is vodafone calling

HAVE 9 CALLS SO FAR FROM THIS NUMBER. HAVE NOT ANSWERED BECAUSE OF THIS THREAD BUT THOUGHT I WOULD REPORT IT TO LET YOU GUYS KNOW THE CALLS ARE STILL HAPPENING !

I've been getting calls from this number every day for two weeks since I got my new phone - so glad I Googled it!!

i didnt answer the call but I do know that resellers, even dodgy small ones, can offer better contracts than a vodafone store (my mate's manager and it annoys him) so the logic of too good to be true may be wrong.  I got my last phone this way and it was still vodafone branded and they bill me direct.  Gt advice to ask them to prove who they are before disclosing your own details, whoever they are, but it's quite possible vodafone passed (sold) them your details

A few missid call, dodgy looking number so googled it and found this!

I've been getting calls from this number for a while. Either just hangs up or I hear operators chatting amongst themselves who cannot hear me.

I have contacted 191 as a previous post says but they have said it is NOT anything to do with Vodafone. I've also had the same problem with 08080000144.

Vodafone have said that all I can do is change my number. How helpful - won't be staying with them when my contract is up.

I double checked this again with Vodafone(191) after seeing the post referring to the Offcom website. The above number is NOT Vodafone despite the seemingly conclusive link to the Offcom site.

Second operator told me it was definitly a scam to get pin codes. Using them they get account addresses changed and your upgrades redirected to themselves.

A bit of consistency from Vodafone here would be good.

Apparently the only number Vodafone have which is similar to this ends in 155 and used for upgrades.

I would ask some questions about the motives for people here claiming this is not a scam.

As to the point regarding this number and the "evidence" on the Ofcom site it would appear that the Vodaphone owned number is a10 digit one ending 014 NOT an 11 digit one ending 0144 ! Seems a scam to me !!
