- phil142 replies to Me myselfDid you actually get a letter threatening court or is this just what you think would happen?
- me myself replies to kyfraI think they are getting desperate for money after the ASA ruling so are trying anything to threaten money out of people. Even if you ever did get a letter actually from a court saying action will be taken you would still be able to settle. These are all just empty threats from TAPA and as I said before they wouldn't want to appear in court as they don't want to reveal themselves.

- phil142 replies to me myself| 1 replyHas anyone who received a threat AFTER the ASA decision then found that it has not been followed up? i have seen several entries from people who received warning letters in Feb/march but don't know for sure that they heard nothing more. I thought that TAPA had given up in November and then...
- kyfra replies to phil142Has anyones letter threatening action gone as far as court summons??
its unclear to me what TAPA's next move likely to be and i would like to be prepared - Dawn replies to phil142Not one thing Phil and hopefully I won't
- Dawn replies to sweetcherI have not heard anything and as I said to Phil hopefully I won't. Stick to your guns and don't pay, I am willing to go the whole hog as I am not easily intimidated and I know that like others on this forum I am right and that so called company is very wrong. Will let you all know if anything comes of their threat-o-gram.

- Dawn| 1 replyIs it just me are did anyone try to get onto the whocallsme thread and couldn't access it?I tried on sunday and it looked like it had been taken down. I did post on another site because I had a nose on TAPA's site and I was infuriated! The post is from nov but I didn't see it. If you go onto TAPA and type whocallsme in the search box you will come up with the following-----
Notice Board
14th November 2011
Bogus, Malicious and Defamatory Postings on Whocallsme.com Website
It has been brought to the attention of TAPA that there have been a large number of false postings published on to a US website called Whocallsme.com by anonymous individuals based in the UK that are aimed to maliciously defame the good reputation of our practice.
The false comments in large part are all aimed to convince browsers that TAPA is under investigation by Trading Standards and various other regulators in England and Wales for unprofessional trading practices. Other postings are aimed to convince browsers that TAPA's services are of little benefit to it's clients and that TAPA hoodwinks clients in to making payments to our practice without providing any service whatsoever to our clients.
The postings are disingenuous and aimed to cause maximum damage to our practice. TAPA is not under investigation by any regulatory bodies and has a very close working relationship with Trading Standards. Our legal representatives in the US have instigated legal action through the US Courts in the local jurisdiction to where the forum moderator is based to have the malicious postings removed and to identify the IP addresses of the hoaxers in the UK. This will then enable TAPA to trace the origin of the various postings through UK telecom providers so that we can instigate legal action against the persons responsible for the false postings.
Unfortunately, Whocallsme.com does not require any registration process and anonymous individuals are able to upload comments instantly upon accessing the website. Our legal representatives have concluded that it is likely that most of the hoaxers are persons responsible for the management of unscrupulous support publishing firms that our practice is assisting large numbers of their victims with. Other comments are likely to have been made by individuals that have arrears with our practice that we are currently pursuing for payment who have posted false comments in retaliation to such matters.
Persons responsible for the management of unscrupulous support publishing firms understand that if they can post as much negative publicity as possible about our practice, this may deter some of their victims from instructing TAPA to assist them and will ensure they are free to target the same victims again in the future without reproach. If you have browsed the postings on Whocallsme.com and have any concerns as a result, please be rest assured that we are doing everything within our power to get the comments removed as soon as possible. However, the legal process in the US can be very lengthy and can take months before cases are heard.
Please contact TAPA with any concerns you may have and our representatives will do their utmost to assist you. If any browsers of this notice have any information in regards to the false postings that may assist our legal representatives, please contact TAPA at your earliest possible convenience with any information you may have. TAPA will update this Notice Board at which time further developments have been made with the case (copied and pasted) from their website!
Firstly I am not a hoaxer nor am I bogus, malicious or defamatory, nor do I believe anyone who has had the misfortune to deal with this company is. Secondly only the Police, Armed Forces (to do with national security), other Government agencies dealing with our nations security are able to access IP addresses via Telecom companies. I know this because my husbands job within the Army is telecommunications and a friend of ours who is ex-RAF worked and has his own company in telecommunications. Also IP addressess work both ways, us joe public telling the truth and people posting threats and abuse on behalf of TAPA would be revealed,we would have nothing to fear. I also know that TAPA would have to prove that we are all liars ect.... for any case to be water tight. And we all know with our dealings with this dubious outfit they would not want the truth to come out. I like most of you want this company to leave me alone and to also warn others not to get involved with them. I also hope that the claim that they are going after whocallsme in the US are true, I hope the peeps behind whocallsme contact all of us who have posted on this forum and ask for copies of our records and proof that TAPA are cowboys.
As for debtors being responsable for these threads, How can you be a debtor when you cancelled a contract you filled in online via the distance selling regulations 2000. And also when the ASA upholds a complaint about said company being misleading about offering a free service amongst other things. The Advertising Protection Agency did not put the ASA ruling on their latest news!!!??? It really does take the piss. How desperate and paranoid can a company be to post the drivel they did in nov. I wonder is it the price of a first class stamp for info pack, and 2nd class for my court letter they want back for costs incurred? They can swing for the postage and the phonecalls they made to me via landline and mobile as that was just harassment. I am so angry I could burst! Bring it on TAPA I have survived far worse than you are throwing at me! Nowt illegal about freedom of speech, especially when its truthful. Stay strong everybody and don't let these unscrupulous buggers get you down.- Caller: TAPA

- sweetcher replies to Dawn| 3 repliesOh my god Dawn, that posting on their website wasn't on there before now, as I had checked it over and over a few days ago. How can they post a 2011 date on their notice board when theyve only just noted it in april 2012!
They are seriously desperate people ha ha idiots, urrrghhh I think the general public speak the truth, the customer is always right, or the consumer in this case!
people make up their own minds and I think they believe genuine people not crooks and conmen that want to take our every penny. These people should be shut down immediately and done for Harrassment, Ive already got a solicitor on hand ready for them and will be sueing them for damages and compensation to my personal life and my families if they don't leave us all alone! I'd rather pay a solicitor for something I am definiately having and signed up for than what I havent. - phil142 replies to DawnHi Dawn
Yes i saw that one some time ago in addition to the later one about a bogus email being sent to TAPA clients. Have you seen that one? I haven't had any problem with accessing this thread in the past few days but it has happened before. I'm glad that you haven't heard any more. Thanks for telling us. - phil142 replies to anonYes i came across these yesterday too.
- phil142 replies to sweetcherSweetcher: At least part of it was there before. I recognise sections of it though it may have been amended.
- me replies to sweetcher| 1 replyDawn. Whocallsme disappeared from a google search for a few days but the site was working as I kept an eye on it
Sweetcher
I first saw the message about the so called bogus messages a couple of months ago probably around the end of January time.
Also don't forget that TAPA are not a Company but a partnership and give false names for all their employees (5th paragraph on link below)
https://www.theadvertisingprotectionagency.co.uk/disclaimer.php
It does say at the bottom
The Partners can be contacted by way of writing to; The Partners, The Advertising Protection Agency, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3AX or alternatively by way of email to serviceprovider@theadvertisingprotectionagency.co.uk.
So you could get your solicitor to write to them and maybe we could find out who are the real people behind TAPA though I doubt you will get any answer - phil142 replies to meYes i have been looking at this discussion regularly too. The issue about whether contributors could be traced through internet addresses came up a long time ago in early discussions before last Christmas.
- Dave replies to eileenyou obviously work for 'em nobhead....
- Scammed by tapa in the past| 2 repliesHi guys. It looks like this farmers mag has fallen for it and done a lovely article on advertising scams saying TAPA is the place to go!

Scroll to page 52.
Anyway I've been doing some investigating. It looks like there are about 10 other reputable so panties that share the offices of TAPA. I wonder if I rang them just to see whether they actually have an office there. (like they insinuate on their website) or whether it is just a PO box.
Thoughts?- Caller: TAPA

- Scammed by tapa in the past correction! replies to Scammed by tapa in the pastSorry all typo there! Not 'panties' but companies. Text predict!
- phil142 replies to Scammed by tapa in the pastAre you referring to the London address? I think we already know that TAPA is not there at all and is actually in Cheshire. That's why Cheshire TS has been investigating them.
I like the statements made by P.Medhurst in the farming article! I wonder how many farmers have fallen into the trap.
