- A farmer| 1 replythe farmers mart should really be contacted and made aware of certain concerns that some have with TAPA
- Scammed by tapa replies to A farmerHi there. I phoned the farmers mag today. They are going to investigate. Apparently someone called them about it this morning. The nets closes on that particular article.
- a farmer| 2 repliesThat may have been me
- phil142 replies to a farmer| 1 replyI have been in touch with Cheshire TS today. I mentioned the Farmers ad to them. They did not comment on it but may be aware of it.
- been scammed by TAPA replies to phil142Also peeps check this out. If you search in google for their full url (http://www.the adver......) and go to the second page you will find:
http://www.abeautifulmummy.co.uk/
At the bottom you will see in the footer a small TAPA logo. Now then, check where 'abeautifulmummy' are from....
Claughton LA2 9JX
Liverpool!
I dont know of any other website who has their logo on it. As far as I can remember when I went through the hell of TAPA they never asked me if I wanted a logo on my site. It just strikes me as strange. - Bill| 1 replyThat's a Lancaster postcode?!
- been scammed by TAPA replies to BillTheres more:
I checked the whois website to find who the domain is owned by. It's owned by Peter Marsden. Link to results here:
http://www.whois.com/whois/theadvertisingprotectionagency.co.uk
Theres an address for Marsden and Gibson ACC on Goggle. Here it is:
23 Oakleigh Ave
Timperley, Altrincham, Greater Manchester WA15 6QT
Go to google maps and check the address in street view. Nice house, three nice cars. New double glazing. I wouldn't be surprised if this house is the hub of TAPA. The place where it all happens. - Bill| 2 repliesYou really can not trust anyone! The comments from variations of "scammed by tapa" are too personal. Seem's most likely an advertising company as very old info is being repeated and very obvious false info (i.e. comment 27th April 2012) I called the company mentioned and she said she was registered and was not overly impressed with them but they did stop the calls. Tell us something we have not been aware of for years rather than repeating old info. I spoke to TS and they warned that although most comments may be genuine there will be rogue publishing companies stirring it up and creating more suspicion. TS Said they have no evidence against TAPA but if you believe you do not owe somebody money then do not make a payment which I think is more common sense than advice! I have made my TS aware of them also so let's see where it goes.
- phil142 replies to Bill| 1 replyBill: I absolutely agree with you. TS has helped me this week with my own individual problem with/complaint against TAPA which was perfectly valid. I did ask about the situation regarding the alleged charity scam but they refrained to comment on it. I recognise the info presented by "scammed by TAPA" as claims which I have seen before on this discussion. I don't know how much truth there is in them.
- anonanon replies to Dawn| 3 repliesMy mother is 90 & housebound. She got a demand for £39.95 today via my email. We still receive nuisance calls but - having resisted their demands last year - we had heard nothing from TAPA for more than 6 months prior to this shocker! We remain strong, however, & have informed TS of the details.
- phil142 replies to anonanonIf your local TS doesn't help you, try the Cheshire one. They have just helped me with the problem. The ASA (who made the recent judgment against TAPA) should be able to give you the contact name. I don't want to put it on this open forum.
- Dawn replies to anonanonThey really are a disgrace. Hopefully your mother won't hear anything else from them. Perhaps you could give Age UK a ring and get some advice regarding your mums case. They used to be Help the Aged and Age Concern. It's worth a try. Do ring Trading Standards as advised by Phil. In the meantime good luck and continue to stay strong.
On another note I still have not heard anything from them and I hope it stays that way. - Dawn replies to anonanonI see you already contacted Trading Standards, I was having a blonde moment!
- Heather replies to Josh| 1 replyHi Josh,
Thanks for your post. I was initially taken in by their website and registered my details with them. Then I started to get more marketing calls than ever. I then got a call from them saying I didn't complete the payment online which I don't ever recall being asked for online. They were quite rude and intimidating over the phone and I hung up. Since then I have changed my phone number. I don't recall signing up for any payment scheme. I certainly never signed for anything. Now they are threatening me with court action via email. I have changed my telephone number, but I'm not sure how to verify whether I owe them money or not as I haven't actually received any official paperwork with contact details etc.. Do you have any suggestions?
Much obliged,
Heather - phil142 replies to HeatherHeather
How long ago did you first contact them? Was it before the ASA judgment against the wording of their website in January. I suggest you contact Cheshire Trading standards which has been dealing with TAPA. They have helped me recently. - Scammed by tapa replies to phil142Hi there. I'm a plumber from east anglia! I hate tapa, and I hate BCS multimedia! All the previous posts where totally genuine.
- Richard Varnham| 1 replyI have been having trouble from a scam web directory. I have now been contactedby the "Advertising Protection Agency". I am suspicious as they sound like the same people at the scam web directory. Is this possible?
- Caller: Advertising Protection Agency
- AnonI would suggest you look back through previous posts and make your own judgement on this. If in doubt act with caution and maybe get some advice from trading standards and the 'citizens advice bureau' first.
- Bill replies to Richard VarnhamIt's best you read the information on their website and decide for yourself as forums can be a place to vent anger and make biased or bogus comments aswell as truth's. Most have a problem on 1 service (I did too and promptly cancelled), but when I mistakedly called businesses on the other service to see if they were genuine, was surprised as most were happy that the service worked well and a couple had got money back they had been duped out of. Trading Standards say they have no case against them, ASA say they now comply and businesses are happy but consumers are not. The jury is still out but make your own mind up is my advice as it seem's a very murky world out there!!
- JohnI took Bil's advice and found this in their 'Discalimer'
