- Bill replies to phil142| 5 repliesAny rational person would not, as when you read comments that are offering opinion and fact together that can then be confirmed, it's a ludicrous statement. I think that's what the issue with deleted comments was, the fine line between truth and lies (not intentional but I think when people read comments saying somethings this or that so often they then take it as fact). It is wrong however to not be able to say when a positive action is made by tapa in retaliation to the negatives without then getting that kind of reaction. I suppose though that is what this pc society has created, monsters that if they have somebody commit a wrong against them they will never let them redeem themselves unless of course a pc brigade trump card is displayed such as race, ethnicity....and such like.
Tapa did not make it clear enough about cost or that they were not government but I admit, I didnt exactly read the info and made assumptions. I have said all along, I am, to say the least, annoyed but as much so at myself. If "Mike and others" want to tell me I'm an idiot for having that view I am quite expecting that but if the site had said it was free and that it was government then I would scream it from the rooftops but can anybody say that was the case, hence my "on the fence" opinions. By the way, I am not excusing the clear lack of visible notice of cost other than in blocks of text and the contract but maybe thats the way to tell us we are just as guilty for not reading as they are for not telling hence possibly no police investigation or shutting down and just a slap on the wrists and they change it. I have nothing to base that on other than a theory so take from it no truth (I do not want trouble thanks!).
My advice, do not come to these forum's for absolute truth but just opinion and advice. Take the seemingly real comments (these are usually the ones with helpful information or places you can get clarification of their claims) and ignore the obvious nonsense (usually in upper case only or posted by"tapa", i.e. the previous page makes verty little sense). The best picture I got (good and bad) was from calling the people that pay tapa and asking what they thought. I imagine though that somebody will say the good comments are made up companies/people and the bad are the real ones?haha! This has taken more of my time than I would like to admit so is most certainly the last I give up. Good luck people. - Nan replies to Bill| 4 repliesI have not been on here for quite some time, but I was on at the same time as LizzieM. The posts which were removed were personal attacks, nothing to do with refuting the claims against TAPA. They were obscene and threatening, even saying they knew where she lived and "had friends in the area". obviously, they, and the replies, were removed. They were neither opinion, nor fact.
- phil142 replies to Nan| 3 repliesNan: I tried to contact LizzieM again in April by private email. I had heard from her in March so I knew that things had not worked out as hoped. I got no further reply in April or afterwards so I am assuming that there is no good news. Have you been in touch with her at all?
- phil142 replies to phil142Bill; When you referred to messages being removed, I thought you meant very recent ones. I also saw the messages about LizzieM which were removed a long time ago as they were shocking, nasty and spiteful as Nan has said.
- Nan replies to phil142| 2 repliesHi Phil. No I have not heard anything from LizzieM. I never had her email address so could not contact her direct. I have just kept an eye out on here to see if she posted. As you say, it looks like the news is bad. So very sorry. Such a brave lady.
- phil142 replies to Nan| 1 replyHi Nan; i did have a private email for LizzieM and we exchanged several messages on it between about November and March. the last I heard was that the results of the treatment had been disappointing and she had been given a poor prognosis. There was then a short gap while she was moving house and had no internet access. I did get one more message. I then emailed her in april but heard nothing.
- Nan replies to phil142Thanks for that. Obviously, there is no way of knowing for sure, but it looks bad. I think she would still have been keeping an eye on here ( just to make sure that TAPA were not winning!!) and given some input if she was able.
- Bill| 2 repliesI meant all early messages I had not seen as did not know of the forum. I was confused in the past few pages with random posts making various claims and statements that clearly were not from normal people wanting advice or to air an opinion so was unsure where they came from but after reading up it seems cowboy's often post comments with harmful intent rather than helpful (not just about tapa but in all areas).
After reading comments by LizzieM my understanding is she wanted change from tapa so can be happy they have not won I think. - John replies to Bill| 1 replyOk so lets get some thing straight
what do we know about TAPA from their own website
1. they operate from an address in London that is just a forwarding address for themselves and others
2. they say in the disclaimer the following
The Advertising Protection Agency treats the personal safety of the individuals it employs to carry out its day-to-day practice duties as its utmost priority. Due to the delicate nature of the work The Advertising Protection Agency undertakes, some individuals employed by The Advertising Protection Agency have adopted pseudonym's to protect their personal safety and the personal safety of their family where necessary. These pseudonym's are recorded against individuals true identities in the administrative records held by The Advertising Protection Agency.
The Advertising Protection Agency is not a legal practice and does not act in any legal capacity or is qualified legally. The Advertising Protection Agency is a profit-making private firm and does not work under contractual agreement or is licensed by any government department to carry out its day-to-day practice duties. The Advertising Protection Agency is not an advertising regulatory body or marketing watchdog. The Advertising Protection Agency is not associated and does not work in partnership with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), Company Investigations, Trading Standards, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the Office of Communications (OFCOM), Citizens Advice or the Charity Commission.
So they use false names and are just in it for the money with no powers to do anyhing
3. they say this about this site
https://www.theadvertisingprotectionagency.co.uk/notice-board.php?id=34
AMAZING so this site is now the scam
You really want to give a positive view of this Partnership (they are not a ltd company and in reality don't even really exist.)
Bill I thought you were going to stop posting here - Bill replies to JohnI find myself unable to stop posting when absurd comments are made, I apologise it seems to anger you so very much. Why you feel so angered by my objective, factual and passive comment's puzzles me somewhat.
I have stated and will clarify my position, I felt somehow duped into registering. I acknowledge that others felt/feel the same. I and everybody else can see the level of new posters is dropping rapidly thus suggesting the changes (forced or otherwise) made on the tapa website have had the desired effect and that is what most people wanted. Some are/were very angry and wanted them to either be shut down or make the service perfectly clear. Seems the government are happy that is now the case.
I give facts that are new facts that are backed up with point of checking for authenticity not regurgitated information which seemingly is reposted when anything slightly positive is said about tapa. I am disheartened that you "John" feel against open discussion and opinions that anybody who shows any form of promoting change for the better. Is that not the reason people make complaints to trading standards/asa/police? If all authorities are now satisfied they comply and are in breach of legislation are doing no wrong then why are you still not satisfied? I care not if they stay or disappear into obscurity. However, to go against that comment after speaking with people that actually champion them because of the help they have given (which yet again all you have to do is dial numbers and speak to people on the following link
https://www.theadvertisingprotectionagency.co.uk/the-tapa-opt-out-ledger.php
as it only takes a few minutes) I shall not be lobbying to get them shut down.
If obvious attempts to get their ship in order had not been made I would have had my name at the top of the petition to parliament! Note that many very well known and worldwide companies have asa adjudications for the same reasons but do we start on them next?
Oh, btw, my brother is a plumber by trade and not a limited company. I have checked his birth certificate and he definitely exists! If he was limited and his company went under then he would be fine as an officer of said ltd company, as he is a sole trader then he is responsible for company debt as are partners of a company so it's either a silly move or a bold move.
I welcome and eagerly await your next accusation but again, please be reminded that this forum should be a source of useful information not a stomping ground for mindless re-posting of old information and in-fighting between people that want to share their opinion/evidence/facts. - BillJust a quick conundrum. Why is it the comments that are so against mine seem to either be from first time posters or "tapa"?
- ``bill
- BillThat previous comment was not from me that has been posting since April. I only post info that can be confirmed as genuine.
- CriTapa have reworded much of there web site they now don't pretend to have connections with the CIB the police and trading standards, they will be out of business soon, once there paying customers realise the have been conned into thinking tapa are official investigating body, ha ha my [***], nice one Anthony I hope your other advertising companies are doing well!
- Caller: Tapa
- Dawn replies to phil142| 2 repliesHi Phil, Just thought I would let you know that 3 and a bit months after I received my threat-o-gram off TAPA, I have heard NOWT! My mail has been forwarded ect.... I even did a credit check with Equifax-Nothing came up, which I would have thought If I owed money I would be a bad debtor????? So sorry to read yours and Nans thread on LizzieM, She was the peoples ultimate champion!!!! I am just sorry about what I posted back to her without knowing the full facts:( As I recall I did however apologise to LizzieM, Nan,yourself and the original Bill.
- bub replies to JJB| 7 repliesi was sucked in but i cancelled within the 7 days, but still got a letter a year later demanding £26.95 and if i do not pay they will take out court proceedings,
- johnny replies to bubno they won't. just look back through the thread for more info. interesting that they want £26.95 when this time last year they wanted £39.95 for this so called service
- Bill replies to bub| 5 repliesI got the same letter and told them I had cancelled and gave my recorded delivery slip as proof and they apologised and I've heard nothing since. It was £39.95 for one number a year ago but I'm not sure I can have a go because they dropped the price. I would love it if others followed suit (i.e. council tax and car insurance!haha!).
- phil142 replies to DawnHi Dawn
I don't think you will hear. I remember LizzieM telling someone else months ago that it won't reach Equifax etc without going through the courts first. I got a threat like your one in April but have also heard no more. I did get some help from Cheshire TS too. Yes you did apologise to LizzieM so don't worry about that. - phil142 replies to Bill| 4 repliesThey apologised?..... Did not think they knew the word.
