Report a phone call from 08443573311 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Katy replies to thinnellyI would say most of us are in agreement with you thinnelly!
As Katejo asked though - do you know for certain that Watchdog are investigating as I'm not aware that anyone has heard from them yet? - Nommiiss replies to katejo| 4 repliesThe Advertising Protection Agency or TAPA is a scam company. You register you phone numbers to get your unwanted texts and phone calls reduced. Your register online and at no point are you advised that there will be a charge for this service. You are advised however that you will receive and information pack.
When the pack arrives, after careful reading you will find out that they want to charge you in excess of £39 per number you listed and that you have 7 days to cancel.
However if you send a letter then it wont get opened as the address on the website is most certainly a mail forwarding address.
Anyway, you will get a phone call, as I did telling you that you owe them money and that if you dont pay they will take yo to court.
The TPS http://www.tpsonline.org.uk - whos logo is used by TAPA is aware of this company and is looking into its fraudulant activities.
The PAYPAL logo does not take you to the PAYPAL site and PAYPAL are looking into the fraudulant use of their logo.
Trading standards are also looking into this company as well as Watchdog.
If you do register with TAPA and they call you wanting money tell them to take you to court, but make sure you email them and keep a copy of that email when you cancel the agreement.
Personally all of the people saying how wonderful TAPA is make me think they they work for them and these are the bogus blogs not the other way around.
*******************************
They do now list there costs but it is not at the top and slightly hidden of this page now and they have reduced there price.

To make such bold statement will only get this forum investigated.
Guys please keep this constructive as TAPA has shown signs of improvement but still have some way to go to get it right.
The next thing to-do TAPA is could you please use an online merchant service like Sage payment or Barclays Merchant services or even PayPal and place this at the end of sign up process to take payment. This will give the site a more upfront approach as many people made the mistake that you where the TPA and they wanted the free service that they offer.
If the customer does not finish the payment section please do not chase them for money ether. Just take it that the customer did not want your pay for service as we do know you can be very rude demanding and threatening on the phone. - katejo replies to Nommiiss| 3 repliesNommiiss
I am already aware of TAPA. . I am only querying whether Watchdog has agreed to get involved? How do you know this? - LizzieM replies to katejo| 2 repliesHi Katejo - just sent you a PM on the other site but it didn't recognise your user name!! I'd like to know how we know that Watchdog is involved too. And Nommiiss, why did you repeat what Thinnelly posted - was it to make the point that we need to be careful that what we say is accurate? I'm a bit unhappy about the closure of the other thread. I thought the evidence was already there in the Distance Selling Regulations.
Nommiiss, if TAPA improve to the piont that they get their site 'right', where does that leave those of us who did not register but received a pack and an invoice? - Nommiiss replies to LizzieMHi LizzyM
I did to make a point that we need to make constructive criticism sorry if that did not come across.
I don't think they have improved there website enough but like I said it is a start and it shows that they willing to listen to the people.
However this in my opinion does not change a thing with my relationship with TAPA and will not be paying for many reason that include I have a crime number on them and have been in contact with consumer direct and under there advice I should not pay.
Furthermore
I will not be having any conversations with TAPA and will end phone calls when them if they call and can advise the same to anyone who has a similar experience with TAPA and Mr Irvine. - katejo replies to LizzieMHi LizzieM
I have just sent you a brief message on the other one. Not sure why it did not recognise my name - Pam64| 19 repliesJust had Tapa ring me today.same story as everyone else. I did click on their site but def didn`t agree to any contract or input payment details. Got the info pack less than a week ago - 2 weeks after I looked at their website. Quite an agressive man on the phone demanding payment.
Has anyone actually been taken to court by them? Sent a letter and e mail to them today though I don`t expect a reply. They won`t be getting my money either!- Caller: Tapa
- Call type: Debt collector
- LizzieM replies to Pam64| 3 repliesExactly the same story as me Pam. Was the man on the phone called Chris Irvine? I'd also like to know if anybody has actually had a letter from the courts yet.
- BillIMHO They still try it on
Here is text from the last email I had from Trading standards regarding TAPA
Hi ******
I'm sorry, but I don't have an officers name at either Cheshire or Bury.
Let me try and re-assure you about TAPA. They are NOT going to come round to you. They are scammers who try and instill fear into their 'victims'. Do not play their game, you are better than the are.
Yes – I'm sorry you have lost some money, but really, it could have been a lot more. Do not respond to them – do not send them any more letters or emails. Eventually, when they realise they have no hold over you, they will move on to someone else. In the meantime they are being investigated, and not just by Trading Standards.
By all means, do tell the Police of your concerns – it can only strengthen the case against TAPA.
Best wishes

- Pam64| 17 repliesHas anyone got in touch with Watchdog and are they also investigating? I`ve contacted Leicester Trading Standards last night so will see what they say. Guess I`ll find out if anyone at Tapa leave amy messages over the next few days - I won`t be answering the phone thats for sure!
I`m glad I checked on here. I was starting to doubt my sanity!- Caller: Papa

- phil142 replies to Pam64Earlier in the week Thinnelly said that Watchdog had become involved but, when asked about this, did not answer. I had previously thought that they had not.
- phil142 replies to Pam64| 14 repliesPam64: Did you complete their online form with contact details or change your mind part way through and exit? I did complete the form but at least one person changed their mind and exited and at least one other never completed it at all.
- katejo replies to LizzieM| 2 repliesLizzieM: Did you get the private message from me on the other site? You had trouble with my name so I wanted to be sure that I had yours correct and hadn't sent the message to someone else.
- LizzieM replies to katejo| 1 replyHi Katejo - no, only had a message from Flo! I am LizaM on the other site. When I tried to add 'Katejo' as a contact, it did not recognise the username. Help!!
- Bill replies to Pam64| 15 repliesI have contacted watchdog a couple of times but have had no response. maybe if more people contact them they may look into it. a shame that the other forum has had the thread removed as it had a lot of info.
- katejo replies to LizzieMLizzieM: Have another look. I have sent you another one on the other site
- phil142 replies to Bill| 14 repliesYes especially as TS are sure it is a scam and the police are aware of it. You would think that MSE would accept that. It was not a group of people making wild unfounded accusations without any evidence to support them.
- LizzieM replies to phil142| 13 repliesHas anyone else contacted investigations@moneysavingexpert.com ? I've referred them back to previous posts that give information. My TS officer is contacting TAPA today so if there is an outcome from that I'll send that to them tool
- Moet replies to LizzieM| 2 repliesAmazing I just noticed on the whocallsme homepage there is an advert for TAPA on the top left hand side!!!!
https://whocallsme.com/ - Nommiiss replies to MoetUnfortunately "WhoCallsMe" has no control over the ads that are shown. This would be controlled by “AdChoices” the company that runs the adds and even then it is to do with the “choice words” used on this site.
