I have had several calls from company called First Assist part of Halifax wanting to see me personal accident cover, its very annoying, i have blank messages on my answer machine from them

So far today I have had 4 calls from this number today, everytime I pick up I hear nothing on the other end of the line and then they hang up.  I have been pestered by them for months and months now and it's getting on my nerves.

Rang a couple of times, I answered. Said they were calling on behalf of Halifax. Asked me to confirm my name. Told them I didn't want any insurance. I rang Halifax customer complaints this am. They apologised and said they would call them and remove my details. They also gave me a direct number to call - 08452707364. Good luck

I've had about 20 calls from this number in the past few days. Everytime I answer, they hang up. When I don't answer, they don't leave a message! So annoying!

Received a silent call from this number today. Checked it out using Google. Rang my telephone service provider and they sdvised to ring Ofcom to report this number. If you are receiving calls from the number please report to Ofcom on 0300 1233333 as the more complaints they receive they will act on.

I have been receiving calls from this number everyday for the past few weeks whilst I have been at work. I was just looking at this website (thankfully) when the number called me and I answered. They asked for a person (my first name, but they had my last name wrong), I asked who was calling and they said 'First Assist'. I asked them to remove me from their calling list and asked how they got my number. The caller asked why I wanted to remove my number and I said "I have looked the number up on the internet and know that it is a scam and should I wish to buy insurance I will do so myself". The caller then asked if I would like to make a complaint and I said yes - he put me on hold for a couple of seconds then asked "would you like me to remove you from our list, then you can make a complaint?" I said if you remove me from your list I would be satisfied with that, he said he would, so lets see....

Keep on getting these myself. Used to really irritate me and get me angry on the phone when they wouldnt take the hint. But realised theres not a lot you can do. So when theres someone on the line...I just answer every question with some random challenge

Todays challenge was seeing how many types of soup I could mention before they hung up....got through 6 before they did. Heinz Chunky Vegetable seemed to be the key.

Next time - names of 80's tv show....I bet its Blue Thunder that makes them hang up.

Caller is annoying as we started receiving daily calls over the last two weeks. These are becoming more frequent each day. However, we are getting them in the evenings as well. The say they are from Halifax and what to contact me, and then the person hangs up. So what is the game! I'm not happy with Halifax for doing this, this is very unprofessional, why would they do this.

Just been called by them myself, after several months since the last one.

Turn the tables on them - if they are on behalf of Halifax, ask them for your Halifax password.  If they can't give you it (which they Can't), then tell them you can't verify who they are and they should cold call someone who isn't subscribed to TPS.

I get called in my absence by 08445810316 who when you call back you get a message saying they are " "First Assist" on behalf of Halifax, and to call 08445810315 if you wish to be removed from their lists. So I did. Then I got another message, in the same voice , telling me to call 08445811074 to be removed from their lists. I called that. I got the same female voice telling me to leave my name and number. There is no way I am doing that,

So I called the Halifax Customer Service and spoke to a chap there. He made out he was checking, and that First Assist was not on their lists and was nothing to do with them.

So I check the web. Search for "First assist" on the Halifax , and what is there :

In other words Halifax are lying [***]. I have an account and two ISA with them, but they have blown it.

This number just called me but hung up when i answered!

These people have been calling me for a few days now. I saw it was a 08445 number so chose to ignore it.
I have found their website and contacted them by email with this :-
"You have been constantly calling my number for days now and at the most inconvenient times. Please remove my name and number from your records. This number is protected by the TPS and if you continue to call I WILL prosecute."
Doubt I'll hear from them again :)

This number appears regularly on my phone if I do 1471 when I come in from work. How they got my numer as I'm ex-directory..... I will NOT speak to banks on the telephone and have told them so. I don't have an account with Halifax and calls like this annoy me.

do not give these people the time of day.i cannot understand how they can get away with phoning every day this is harrasment to witch there must be a law to stop this

phoned us for the 6th time since 14 April but I just screen the calls.
I suspect someone in our house has forgotten to tick 'no marketing please' option when taking out a Halifax product!

I, too, have been receiving several calls a day from this telephone number for the last couple of months.  When I have answered the phone, the line has either gone dead or I have spoken to a call centre operative who seems to be conducting market research or trying to sell me something.  They usually fail to identify their company and have been asking me questions about which utility companies I have accounts with.  I have refused to give any information on each occasion and have asked them to remove my details from their database and not to call again.  However, each time I return from work and 1471 my home phone I discover that they have still tried to ring again each and every day (including weekends).  Whilst visiting this website to find more details about 08445810316 I received another call!  The operative told me that he was calling on behalf of a 'British Society Survey' and wanted me to tell him which gas utility company I use.  When I refused to answer and asked him not to call again he replied that he would have to put down in their database that I had refused to answer his question, so they would call back later.  Unbelievable.  I use the TPS and am getting really sick of these perpetual calls (so much so that I'm now reluctant to answer my phone when it rings).  HELP!

I call screen every call - Any numbers starting with 08 do not get answered. This does not make them any less of a nuisance, but at least I do not have to go through the ordeal of speaking to these people.
GG2009, get a phone with a screen so you can see who is calling and do not answer. I suspect that eventually they'd stop calling!
The latest is the 0844 5810316. I have no idea who they are and have no intention of finding out!
