Cheers Andrea - I just might do that.  Since my last posting the calls have continued every day but, as I've been out each time, I haven't had the misfortune of picking up.  I'm hoping they'll get the hint soon!  Cheers again.

Keep getting calls from this number. After the first time, when there was just silence at the other end, I now answer the call and immediately hang up, hoping that may confuse them!

I just got more and more abusive to them and now quite look forward to my daily rant taking what frustrations I have during the day out on them !!  Fight fire with fire

very annoying, 5 times in 20 minutes i have been called by these people today, mithering to speak to my wife, claiming she arranged with them for a telephone questionnaire about an accident she has previously had.

However, what they was saying was total rubbish, as A) I do not have a wife, and B) i will never have a wife, as i am gay!!! i told them this, and they called me an idiot and then hung up!!!

I got a call from 08445810316, claiming to be phoning on behalf of the Halifiax.  As I bank with Halifax, I thought the call was legitimate.  I was beginning to get sucked in until the caller asked for my bank details and sort code.  I said I would rather go into branch and set this up as I do not disclose my banking details over the phone.  My mum went onto this site and found all the other complaints from people who had been called by this company.

This is the 5th time in 3 days this number has phoned me, even though i am registered with TPS and have been EX.D for yeras, they still ring, I actually answered it this afternoon, and knew it was a sales call of some kind because of the slight delay when I answered.
I just told them to go forward in jerky movements and then hung up.
Its really annoying, and I wish they'd just leave me alone

This lot have previously called me on several occassions to speak to me about my account with Halifax. Have explained to them I do not have an account with them, I have never had an account with them and I most certainly do not wish to oppen an account with them. Expained I am registered with the TPS. I have asked them to remove my number from their database and not to call me again. which they said they would. Surprise surprise, they have started ringing my numner again 3 times a day. I don't even bother picking up the receiver now.

Been called on a regular basis from this number, sometimes very late at night. Another one earlier who said it was 'First Assist on behalf of the Halifax'. I asked if they were actually the Halifax and if they were not, would be reporting the number plus their practice of repeat nuisance calls.
They have now taken my details odd their database!

Just called Ofcom who have suggested registering with TPS. If they ring me again, I can report them to the Information Commission on 01625-545745

I get at least one call a day from this number...

Several months ago, in a rare moment where i was in a position to actually answer a call, i asked them where they got my details from and they told me that they had got them from the Halifax (whom unfortunately i do have an account with!). In the same call, i told them politely not to call me again, which they said they wouldn't, and that was that....

Today (24.08.2009) after continuously receiving daily calls from this number i decided enough was enough. Firstly i rang my mobile phone operator who informed me that they couldn't block the number and advised me to contact the police...

So i rang the police who gave me a crime reference number, said there was nothing more they could do and suggested i get back in touch with my phone operator, which i did....

AGAIN, they told me that there was nothing they could do. Even me telling them that i will get my number blocked and stop using them if the calls continue didn't seem to phase them...

The last thing i thought of to do was to call the Halifax and get their opinion. Well guess what? Surprise surprise, they said that they have nothing to do with First Assist and that they do not pass their customers' details onto them....

Hmmmmm... Now one very hacked off lady, who has not suceeded in solving this issue and potentially could lose a mobile phone number and a building society account, all over a silly accident insurance company's inability to take no for an answer and be nothing but an absolute nuisance!

Just got a call from this number - 3.35pm - I answered after three or four rings but no-one on the end. Thanks everyone for posting these messages helping others like me to discover the scam numbers!

glad i'm not only one gettin silly calls, stopped answering phone, and if i do answer the phone if there is a gap of more than 2 secs i put phone straight down, thinking when i get my money sorted from my ex and i get some money i will change my number, if its important they can blooming well write to me, why shpuld we have to change our number cos some company gives it out to tom dick or harry, this is a different number to one i've recently complained about btw, ppl like this are making it so we are too scared to answer phone in case we get tricking into buying somethin

rang again today, twice in about 30 mins, seems to be trying harder, all i can say is they are idiots, put the number and this site on facebook to warn ppl, hope its ok to do that

Further to my previous postings, I am happy to report the calls did finally stop in c. June 2009...

...sadly, however, they started again last week. The woman on the end of the phone introduced herself by saying "This is First Assist on behalf of Halifax".  I promptly informed her I was really not interested and hung up.

I wish they would just stop this.  They really are a nuisance!

Phoned today, but I did not pick up when I saw it was an 0844 number. Having read the comments on here, I am pleased I did not answer.
I am registered with TPS and am ex directory, so why is this company allowed to keep harrassing people? I shall be boycotting Halifax from now on.

I see lots of people get calls from this number, I have just found missed called as well... Does anyone know how to get rid of them ?

I kept getting calls from these pests and others like them so got a machine called truecall what a wonderful machine they won't be getting through again they cost around £80 but may get them cheaper if you search about but i'm afraid its the price i had to pay for a quiet life.

Several months ago these guys pestering me with 2-3 calls every other day. I did not answer to any of them as I usually never take any calls from numbers that are not saved on my mobile. Whoever has a genuine need to reach me can leave a voice message!
I checked the number on whocallsme but did not leave a comment as I though/hoped it was a one-off.
I'm now banking with Halifax/BOS but not for much longer! They should not be allowed to pass on your details to any sister company without your permission!
I'll make an official complaint with them before closing my accounts!
