I have just had an "interview" with someone called Miles from DSD.

I was asked to attend at a Premier Inn behind a pub. I arrived and made myself known to the reception and was told that they used to interview in the pub, but as it was shut after 09:00 they had to do it in the hotel. There was me thinking it was in a hired room, but no, I was asked to fill in an application form outside whilst this Miles charachter interviewed someone else in the hotel foyer. Not very professional.

When my turn came I found, once I could actually get in the seat, the interview was hurried and uncomprehensive, and as people have said he was very evasive of probing questions. Yes you are self employed, yes you pay for the van, yes you pay for the stock, but as I was told on your second day, yes you pay your own fuel costs. Insurance for the van is sorted out with the lease charge by the sound of it as are servicing costs. Nothing mentioned about Public Liability Insurance or inspections by VOSA or Environmental Health.

The guy seemed to want to sell the job to me not the other way round. I am usually very wary of this type of interview and so should everybody else be. You probably could make money if you worked hard long hours but not what they are quoting. You would have to sell to quite a number of well-off lazy bstards to make a good living. When a company advertises jobs in the way this one does it should ring warning bells for anyone. Not professional, no corporate identity in the ad, nothing of any quality what-so-ever.

If you are out of work and desperate, please use your common sense. If it looks too good then it probably is.

    Sceptic.

PS Sarah/Miles; I will not be attending your training day thank you.

YES i do work for dining solution and have now for 8 months now, I had been unemployed for 6 months before taking this job but thought i would give it a crack.... I work hard,AND HAVE ALWAYS TRIED TO SUCCEED IN ANYTHING I DO. I have never forced anyone ( especially old or vulnerable) to buy our food stuffs and now I have a reasonable client base who are certainly happy with the food I sell them !!! I'm sure they wouldn't rebuy if they didn't like the food... or me !!

What do you expect to earn without putting in hard work???

Q Have any of you ever hired a car ???
Y- Then you should know that you have to leave a deposit in case you damage the vehicle but would get deposit back if all ok.
N - You will have to pay a deposit in advance in case you damage the vehicle but would get your deposit back if all ok
In response to Sceptic and many other slaters out there who have nothing better to do than hurl insults and give the wrong impression, there is NO perfect job, no perfect interviewing technique but IF YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE IT YOUR ALL you can succeed !!
Sceptic hmmmm  is it £65 a week on jobseekers allowance??? Having to go to sign on every 2 weeks proving that you have been searching for jobs!!! Have you read all the local papers and internet sites for new jobs ??? Think it will be an 8 week review soon to see if we can find anymore ways to help you find a job... How small does it make you feel?
Think I would much rather try and earn average money and see the wages grow from hard work!!
P.S. It wasnt Miles fault that you couldn't be interviewed in bar .
He is a good man and works hard at his job.
P.P.S. Thank you for letting him know you not coming for training :-) :-) :-)

I just had one of these vans show up at my door...... The 'fish man' just wouldn't take no for an answer, ended up swearing at him in the end.
I decided to Google the name, as soon as I had typed 'dining so', the predictive drop down list came up with 'dining solutions direct scam' (I'm so glad I didn't buy anything).
The comments on this website say it all I think, workers for the company say it's the competitors slating the competition, but every business out there has competitors, I've never seen anything like this before.  The company seems to be a pure scam for anyone working for them and anyone buying from them, presumably when you start working for them or buying from them you get a free knife held to your neck just so that you know you are being robbed.

    It's not a scam. It's just misleading.

You can earn plenty if you work hard.

The advert is there to draw you in. It worked with me. No regrets.

some reps do make alot of money but it is true they have to work twice or even three times as hard as us mere mortals that earn a pitance every month... working for this company is on the same principle as selling kirby hoovers.. although the food being sold here is good...I have brought it in the past, you pay an average of £40 per box but you get alot of pieces in the box  for that money, if you were to split the cost and product with a neighbour or family member then that is an economic way of buying quality meat/fish quite cheaply instead of frozen pizza from asda and your kids get nutritional meals on a daily basis.. but going back to working fro them... dont knock them unless you are prepared to put in the hard work that is required to make that kind of money and if you are fat and lazy then i pitty you for thinking that you can earn £40k without getting off your [***].

I have no connection with any kind of sales work. I am a customer of Leroy's.
I have bought several boxes of fish/seafood & other meat products from DSD.
All the products have been in perfect condition. No - they are NOT cheap but
they are equal to or better than many products I have been served in some quite
expensive restaurants. I could not afford to buy all my fish/meat etc from DSD,
I buy what I can afford and what I can't get from local shops/supermarkets.
I'm sure there are some 'hard sell' individuals out there, maybe even some
work for DSD, I don't know, I haven't met them yet. As far as I'm concerned
    their products are excellent.

This company is a joke; its efforts to lead any Google searches for Dining Solutions Direct Scam towards its website are pathetic.  The hatred and anger out there for this company says a lot - DO NOT BUY FROM OR WORK FOR THIS COMPANY!

    Humble Customer
I am an innocnt by-stander, a humble customer of DSD.  I too appreciate the quality of their product.
However 8 weeks ago I gave my fishman an order for 4 boxes of frozen food approx £160 worth.
Foolishly I paid in advance, for the fishman had always been reliable in the past. They should have been deliverd at the end of the weekc
Now, 8 weeks on , three telephone calls to the Illminster office  and two e-mails to Mr Bewley  (completely ignored) later.  I am no further forward in getting the goods.
I feel that I must warne other potential customers against falling into the same trap.

I was responsible for the previous letter , but I am happy to report that I have been visited by a representative from DSD who has apologised and delivered my missing goods .I would therefore
wish to withdraw any doubts about the veracity of DSD which may have been implied by previous
    letter.

Great news, get those robbing and dishonest 'fishmen' off the streets.

I had 2 training days with them where I learnt the sort of selling tactics and lies that they use to sell to the elderly (the main culprit being Stuart from the South West), things like totaling prices up on the calculator, adding a bit on and if the customer spots that it's wrong then blame the old calculator.  I have also seen the "don't take no for an answer" hard-sell method taken to a whole new level, where people have felt compelled to buy boxes of 'Findus' food just to get rid of the blokes who will do anything to get their £15 commission per box.  I'm sure that not all the fishmen are as dishonest as Stuart is, but he gave me a real insight into the company, I also saw that the fishmen have to buy everything themselves right down to the blocks of ice that keep the fish frozen (probably the reason they apply the desperate hard-sell method to the elderly) as they don't get a basic salary, their wages are purely commission based.

I'd urge anyone who receives a visit from a DSD man to slam the door in his face or better yet pretend to be interested and waste a couple of hours of his time and then hurl some abuse at him - especially if his name is Stuart (he drives a Transporter and has a mustache).

i don't no this company but i can tell you that any company in this present market all run in different ways and the directors want to earn money and if they are you are ,,,,,,just remember royal bank of Scotland now would you do a company search on them  ,,no you wouldn't and yet people still bank there and work there ,,,,so my point is if you don't want to work for a company like this start searching for jobs on the moon or Mars because that's the only  place you might be happy

    good luck
