do you have to buy the food and ice for the van all the time?

Hi, the food is given out on consignment which means you don't have to buy it first. It is very much worth going to the interview, regardless of what certain idiots have written on here. I'm sure you are mature enough to make your own mind up. All the best

don't do it. they charge you £500 for van full of meat/fish, which you pay off £50 a week. You pay for van at extortionate rate weekly (you would be cheaper leasing your own van and getting own insurance). Dry ice costs about £60 a week. You earn £20 per box you sell, but you have to pay upfront for the boxes so the risk is all yours. Some of the products are good quality and some are not. It takes a lot of hours and a long time to build up a list of repeat clients. they will also scam you out of money left right and centre. please don't do it.

Agreed, have just recently worked for them for a week, it's a scam! I did c. 55 hours and ended up owing them money so my £200 deposit for the van has gone. You have to make quite a few sales just to break even and despite the claims that the food will sell itself, it doesn't. The prices are too high for a lot of people (I couldn't even persuade any family members to buy anything) and the boxes are way too big for anyone other than large, wealthy families with chest freezers even when the contents are removed from the box; I wouldn't be able to fit any in my freezer and it's not particularly small or full.

On top of this, upon quitting and returning the van and paying for more ice, I was accused of selling 2 boxes and simply pocketing the money without putting receipts through which is absolute rubbish. Apparently I was given 30 boxes to start with and only had 28 at the end. I was never told I had 30 boxes so hadn't checked.

They are clearly not above using underhand tactics to extort money from you, even accusations of theft which are defamatory and slanderous.

I will be reporting them to Trading Standards and anyone else that might put an end to the malpractice that, going by the plethora of negative comments on here, is rife within DSD

There have been Police/Trading S tandards in several local papers recently warning about this type of selling.  Elderly people are being bullied intoi buying very laerge quantities of fish which is not up to standard and overpriced.  There is also no way that the buyer can get through the amounts sold or have means of storing such large quantities.

Might want to have a look at village public awareness forum in grayshott, Surrey.  Bullying, dishonest and deceitful behaviour from a DSD rep ,  tarnishing everyone else's reputation.  Sounds like Matt Reads typical behaviour.  Was blackilisted from Regis Foods for exactly ths kind of behaviour.  Currenty selling DSD products. Stay away from this man.

I've worked for these guys. I worked really hard. I was honest and I worked within their model but also within my own parameters so I wasn't going to make a quick buck over-night. Prices appeared high but that's how it works, but anything can appear high, and always remember, nothing is free. If you're going to sell high price stuff make sure it is quality food. But remember it is FOOD, and supermarkets rip us off every day but they get their slice of pie.
If you go back every week to sell to the same people you're foolish. Let them eat the stuff and buy when they are ready.
I've worked in the cold, and lost the feeling in my fingers, but at other times, in sandals, shorts and sunny weather. Once weekly overheads were paid off, the rest was profit. The one thing you need for this business is DRIVE. And BELIEF.

My first year profit was 14k and within 6months, it was 15k afterwards. Had I stuck with it, that would have meant 30k in the year if not more. And having the drive I would have taken it higher. I left because my manager and I disagreed over how and in which way I should sell, but afterwards he saw I understood what he wanted and realised I'd still be able to deliver what he wanted. Unfortunately you have to have a happy family life to remain positive and mine was dying quickly while my profits soared. I chose my family over this opportunity.

I now work in care. And even there in Challenging Behaviour, there have been officers from Op. Trident and the army who have left being unable to do the job. Not everyone can do it. Its down to you and what you see in yourself and where your lines are drawn. The unscrupulous draw their lines elsewhere. Mine have always been about honesty, integrity and honour.
But I'll tell you one thing for free. I made it in both jobs. And I got where I got because I worked it, and lived it and breathed it. You have to, or you will fail. 2pm in the pub is not the place to be if you want to live and eat. Neither is being on here bitchin'. In the care work, I was getting attacked daily and weekly but after 5 years, I was never attacked more than once or twice a year as I gained trust from the service users. And I've watched many staff leave from fear. Dining Solutions have to sort through the same quantity of staff to find the driven and scrupulous. Which ones on here are any of this? And which ones aren't?

    Scam Hunter
They've created all sorts of fake web pages that relate to the word 'scam' so that anyone who does a search in Google finds pages from Dining Solutions Direct claiming to be helping to fight against the scamming world...... The irony!

Found this nice little post from a lady in Portsmouth:

I have had recent dealings with dining solutions and the manager nick especially. In the many hours spent in their company I sincerely believe them to be an honest group of lads who have a fantastic structure. Nick spends hours and hours per week searching for the best products and his tireless energy and commitment to the cause is very desirable. I am honoured to have met him and his staff who are all fantastic guys certainly from the Wallingford and ilminster branches anyway. To customers potentially buying DSD food you will not be disappointed I can assure you. My advice would be to take whatever agent comes to your door at face value and make a decision based on if your heart says he's a decent human being. I wish all of the DSD group a bright future. Tommy (an independent for 6 years)
