They are employed to socially engineer info out of you on behalf of third parties. They also work on behalf of private and governmental investigation firms, the market research thing really is a ploy and is done so you suspect a different kind of foul play but not actually the foul play they are carrying out. They probably have the information they set out to get before you even realise.

Yes me too, had call from these just now, two rings and then they put it down. Not bothered calling back after reading this. I haven't ever had anything to do with the carphone warehouse though so it can't just be down to them??!!

Would have recommended both to many but now NO WAY!

After buying a brand new PAYG mobile phone from Car Phone Warehouse got a missed call from this number. Haven't had chance to give the new number to anyone else at all! Rang the number back from landline ( after pre fixing with 141 to stop caller ID) A recorded message announced "This is a Market Research company" then hung up.

Just got a call from them now. Carphone Warehouse calls me from loads of different number that I have told them to unsubscribe me from, so I reckon this is just another one of their numbers since that name keeps coming up on this site!

Got a missed call from this number to a new phone which I had given to my son.  Almost no one has my number. The phone was bought from Carphone Warehouse.

Got this call this morning, answered as I don't have caller display, all I got was someone in background repeating 'hello' as if they couldn't hear me, so I put phone down, did caller id & their number was on, still no idea who it was!

It's end of April 2013 & the same calls are coming to my mobile as all the others above!  Glad this site exists so I can ignore the calls completely

I get them and I have absolutely nothing to do with , or from , carphone warehouse so I dont think that is the trigger.

I have a missed call from this number on my mobile. Just changed my phone to Carphone Warehouse but kept my old number. Didn't answer as was at work.

Dont answer...there linked to the carphone warehouse. When you buy a phone or have a contract with them you know is sent out on to a data base system.
ive had 3 different numbers call me today.
And I demanded where they got my number from lol they are based near london

Who is this number from is it CPW, HMRC, ACAS, or Tesco's, would really like to know!
Didn't answer the call as didn't recognise the number!
I've had no contact with CPW for 2 years, since claiming for a stolen phone!
Have sort of dealings with HMRC as off sick!
Don't know if ACAS have anything to do with benefits system taking me to court over my illness!
Or is it Tesco's wanting feedback from home shopping??
