Obviously a scam but will I have to pay. Answered and just said happy new year or something similar.

It is a robot voice from your phone provider reading a text message sent to a voice-only land line
BT call the 0845602111 service "BT Text" .
Virginmedia call it "Virgin Media Voice Text"

There is no charge to hear the voicemail.
Block or set a curfew time for future messages by phoning 08005875252 (google it)
Don't believe?  Send a text message directly to your land line.

This is only a text message sent to your landline probably in error - answer the call and listen to details of the mobile number it's from. Press 1 to listen 2 to save 3 to delete - no charge I am with sky

Colleague received two voice mail messages from this number -  0845602111 - apparently a BT text messaging service. Concerned that this might be some kind of phishing scam.

The number is genuine , as for the messages, who knows until they listen to them. Any network can send a text to landline message it's up to the recipient on how they deal with it.

I have today received a call with a very strange message

BT unsolicited call to download a whatsap.Regisrered with useless TPS .Called while using grill.What a pain in butt.Any company using this service is barred from my contact

Keeps ringing my number

This number has called me 3 times in 45 minutes. Last one being 21.35

This number is the BT Text Messaging Service.  It announces text messages sent to your home phone whether or not you have a BT line.  You can set your preferences, or turn it off completely, by calling 0800 587 5252 from the landline you are receiving them on and following the instructions. Not a scam.  It's a service.

I think this number ended '111' will show up on your landline caller display when you have a text message from a mobile set up using a BT mobile contract. The number ending '1111' will show if the caller has a contract with a different mobile company but use this BT service to deliver an audio translation of a text sent to your landline. This system can't control who sends the message or when it's sent any more than the telecom system can control any phone call or text. As with all calls and texts, common sense is needed when dealing with calls from an unknown number. Recommend if getting a call from this number, pick up the phone, listen to the first part of the message and take a note of the originating number that the computer should read to you - it will not be this number if the call is genuine. Then do a search on that mobile number including on your own contacts list. Also check this 0845 number on the BT  web.

Rang 17 times this morning. I just let it ring. No message was left so must be a scam number

Just got a call on my ex-directory landline from 08456021111. I am registered with TPS. Didn't recognise so didn't answer. Subsequently found my landline was left a voicemail On checking it cut out immediately the answer machine kicked in. Sounds suspicious.

This ancient system will not respond to answerphones..It always causes confusion and suspicion and rightly so  TPS will also not work with this facility.  Your phone provider is attempting to deliver an audio translation of a text someone has sent to your landline. If your landline number is ex-directory and absolutely no one knows it, possible that a scammer system is randomly dialling numbers. The standard test is to stand next to your landline with mobile in hand and send yourself a text message. That's what a genuine call from this number sounds like..
