hi just recived a call from this number at 22.19pm!!!! i let the phone ring then dialed 1471....this number came up so i called it back. It said this is a BT sms service, i have one message. Message said "scientist have found a new drug for depressed lesbians"!!!!!!
Hung the phone right up LMAO

Pipex are leaving messages all the time from this number telling me to ring them urgently as there is a problem with my telephone service !  I left them last May and only had Broadband not telephone !

To turn off the BT sms service there is a BT freephone number 0800 587 5252. Choose option 1 then option 5. this is the way to turn off the sms system sending messages to your number. it worls and is free phone .

I received a call from this number tonight at 8.51 pm. Could it be a scam? The odd thing is that all the current E.mails on my computer are now offline! I have also received some very garbled messages. Please how can I stop such calls?

Called very late, Sunday night. Guess this nuisance caller needs something to do!

I called virgin to stop receiving text from 08456021111,
They told me to call 08005875252 and to follow the procedure (you can turn the option on/off 24h, or choose the time when to receive these messages)
Personnally I've tuned that off because most people who have sent text to my landline are making it by mistake, and I don't want to contribute to this [***] service :-)

Received 2 calls from this number today (7am and 8.15am)telling me I had a SMS message. I assumed it is a scam to get me to make a call so they can bill me.Sick of these things

this number  keeps displaying, i dont  answer...     i wont call it in case is scam to charge £15 per minute minimum    or something  like.

just a call from this number at 5:30am this day as i was asleep allmost did not get to it in time i have have had bt message saying that i am to ring 08456021111 but as i am no with bt it cant of been from bt

It seems legitimate, I just rang it back and it made the B.T. lady read out;
"I am a farmer, my name is bob, i'm widely renowned for the size of my nob"
Which made me chuckle!!
It being B.T. though it has probably just cost a small fortune to ring it back.

its a bt answerphone thing when someone texts ur landline it comes from this number so u get a voice sayin the message

call says 'this is a recorded message from BT - to listen to your call press 1'
first time I pressed 1 call started to say 'gay boy-----' - I didn't listen any more - 2nd call I didn't press 1

I just recieve text messages to my works phone wich are charged at £4.25 per text and i need to know how to stop it

Received this and rang back. It's from a company who were confirming an order I had placed had been dispatched. They used BT SMS service. Appears genuine. I am now with SKY Talk so guess BT are using this as a way of getting texts to me instead of via BT line.

It's safe.. it's normal price and it's just to receive a text someone has sent to your landline. It will keep trying, hence the weird times it calls sometimes.

Why does this number keep calling me?

I SENT MY FIRST TEXT MESSAGE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON USING MY LANDLINE. THIS WAS A BAD MISTAKE! THE PHONE HAS RUNG EVERY 3 HOURS (INCLUDING ALL NIGHT) SINCE THEN FROM 08456021111 TELLING ME I HAVE "RE REGISTERED OK. YOU CAN NOW SEND & RECEIVE TEXT MESSAGES"  I HAVE TEXTED TO SAY I WANT TO STOP AND IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE.  I HAVE NOW HAD TO TAKE THE PHONE OFF THE HOOK. I AM VERY FED UP. I AM NOW GOING TO PHONE BRITISH TELECOM CUSTOMER SERVICES TO ASK FOR THEIR HELP.

then pressed option 1 (curfew times for the calls)
then pressed option 5 (cancelling the service)

AND IT HAS WORKED!
THE SILENCE IS POSITIVELY DEAFENING!!

I will now go back to only using my mobile phone to send any TEXT messages -
although I still think being able to leave someone a WRITTEN message, even when they don't have a mobile phone, can be useful !!  No misunderstandings if it's written down!  

Just an extra bit of info I gleaned from customer services :-
If you are an ex-directory & non-displayed telephone number (like me!) when you phone the number back to get any messages, you have to pre-dial 1470,  or it will say 'no messages'.
Also, any calls, outgoing or incoming, are at BT's standard rate for 0845.

This number called me today and I let the answer machine take it.
It was an SMS message from an optician confirming an appointment.  So, I think we can safely say this is OK.
