Received message from 0845602111 asking me to ring 01872266770. Didn't of course but wondering if this is scam to get you to ring very expensive number. I am with Talk Talk so don't know if I can report the matter to BT's malicious phone call office.

08456021111  Its not a problem its just a text message sent to your landline by someone who you know( prob just sent it to your land line instead of your mobile). Quite a neat idea if you can understand the android style voice.

Phoned 1471 and got the number 08456021111 Dont know who they are but at 11 oclock at night and your children are in bed it becomes very annoying.

first i have Capital Ones automated calls reminding me to log into a credit card account which i dont even have with them so, i explained its my new landline number & the indian call centre woman answered when i called back, she realised it was the previous person who had this number she was after and assured me the calls will be stopped, guess what? im still getting them and now this tw*t on 08456021111 keeps ringn aswell. they might be making money each time a person answers there bl**dy phone, taken the piss now!!

Had 2 of these phone calls at about 2.45pm. And 15 Mins later. I dunno who or what they are but I wish they would stop.  I dont answer my phone often cause when I answer it always an advert,

It is the BT SMS text message service. If someone sends a text message to your landline then this number will call you to give you the message.

It is not a scam, just people who have your number, i.e. relatives being thick and texting your landline instead of your mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the SMS landline delivery service from BT.
If somebody sends a text from a mobile phone to your landline, then BT will convert it into a voice message, and call you using this number.

Charges local rate to call back and pick up the messages, and completely safe.

This number is calling you because someone has sent you a text to your landline instead of your mobile.  I received one today and it turned out to be a text from my sister.  I also received one from my son and it was the same number.  If you accept it, it tells you the mobile number of the person sending the text then the text message.  My sister and my son sent them to me in error as my name was in their phone but they inadvertently sent it to my land line number instead of my mobile number.

this number has been calling me twice every morning since i have signed up for BT. it says that the number is a 'sms bt message from an unobtainable number'... what the hell? then it asks for me to press some numbers, i just put the phone down.

08456021111 rang me 7 times tonite, havent answered. VERY ANNOYING as i'm waiting for very important call.

I did a 1471 call as I had a missed message I was told to call the 0845602111 number and was given another number 1412283038 and a ref number which is 3569329 did phone and was told no number working now what is going on help

BT provides this Text to Voice facility as a "service".     If you do not want to receive such messages, go to 0800 587 5252 to opt out.

On the same number you can also select times at which you wish to be left in peace.

There was a message in the BT Newsletter with quarterly invoices about this, but written in the usual BT double-speak.

We were called last night at 02:55 - not happy at all as you can imagine as the only types of calls you normally get at that time are bad news - didnt ring back as we are with Virgin??!!

Yep, same, got 2 calls from them this morning as I was talking to BT over the phone due to problems on my line. On the 3rd time i picked up and it was a txt from BT saying they'll send an engineer. So no worries, it's just a txt sent on your landline!

I've had a couple of these calls, it is a BT service that reads out a text message because someone was stupid enough to sent a text to my home number, not my mobile. As soon as I heard the caller ID I deleted the message without hearing it.
Then went on to make sure I never got any more calls from this number, there's the option to call and press a number to do that.
Quite simply I don't want text messages reading out on my home line. I'm not a BT customer either.
Note it's a free 0800 to cancel the service. HTH
