This is BT!!!!!

I had a text from Sky broadband saying it was now active.

this is actually the bt text service it is used by people with mobile phones who want to get in touch with someone who doesnt have a mobile phone but only a land line.. you can text a home phone number to get in touch with someone... i have used this service myself many times and some of my friends and family use it when they cant remember my mobile number lol it is total safe and is not some crank caller.. for those who are getting messages from say a company or a winners line it is most probably someone playing a prank on you, it has been known to use a landline number for these crank call services. if you look in the back of some magazines you will actually find adverts for people to crank call their friends/family so if its from this number thats most likely the cause..

They rand me today a Sunday morning at 8.15am and have since run about 8 times today. By the time i get to answer the frigging phone they have hung up!!!!!!!!

I just called 08456021111 and got this..Welcome to the SMS Voice Text Service from BT Caller 85115.... "You are still in the race to win a Sony Bravia TV, send 'YES' to 85115 to win". Bloody junk mail scam. This is what happens when you give shed loads of free texts out mobile phone companies!!

ITS A LIGITIMATE NUMBER FROM BT!!! As people have said many times!! Its NOT a scam!! Its when people text your home phone, and you get that text as a voice recording!! If anything, its the content you should be worried about, i.e if its not from family or friends or anyone you know.. don't do anything about it!

It's nothing to do with your mobile phone!!! It's your home phone number they text!! Jeez, don't people read!!

Rang, no message. If it is BT then is it probably a scam. I had their broadband & had nothing but problems and absolutely no technical support that you could take seriously. If its BT, its a problem. I wont answer it. I refuse to pay to receive a message from someone. Why should I pay to receive someone else's message? If someone wants me to know something, they can pay to tell me.

I had my first call from this number today, a few hours after I placed an item on e-Bay for the first time.
Didn't answer it as I didn't get to my phone in time.

Thinking there could be a link.

Further to my last post, called the number back and it was a voicemail from my girlfriend's Orange mobile, who had texted the landline instead of my mobile so apologies to e-Bay!

Just had this phone number call me at 10.43pm ..... it's outrageous.
Should be disconnected.

If someone sends a text message from a mobile to a landline, bt will read the text message out to you.  BT are not scamming anyone, it is a legit service, but you may get text messages from someone you don't know or in error. My answerphone picks up the message and I can listen to it when I'm back. Woolworths texted me today to say my order was in store ready for collection.

This is a legitimate number used by BT to hold text messages sent to your land line. It is safe to call the number and listen to the message.

it is a text msg sent to your house phone it dosnt cost anything to listen to msg.if you dont listen to it though it keeps ringing you back so it is best just to lisen t it.

it's just BT's sms service, someone has text you land line instead of your mobile. It's not a scam! I just dialled it back after missing the call and it was a text for my partner.

I have had the calls before but have not bothered to call it back.

i had a call from that number it was my husband leaving a msg to tell me i could not go and get my hair done cus he was to busy to babysit .so yes they are annoying calls but you know who there from once you answer them.

It's bt, could be confusing if you have just switched provider tho, they send text messages through the land line.

just rang me at 00.39 :P i blame my GF who texted my landline at 00.35. NOT the bt text service which is just doing what it is designed to do: i.e. deliver messages!

it's safe, just irritating because if you ignore it, it assumes you're out and so tries to keep delivering the text by calling back every so often.

i've been on virgin for years btw and still have the BT text service for some reason. the virgin one used to have the voice of tom baker (4th dr who). had some fun with that....

This is only BT. If you send a text message to your own landline, you will see that it is this number that will deliver the message!
