- The Christmas Fairy replies to robboSomeone must have sent you a text to you landline probably wishing you seasonal felicitations. The is a service number that translates text messages to audio for relay to a non text enabled landline. Posts over the last few pages explain how to safely retrieve the message without risk and without charge. Be aware the message will be deleted after 24 hours and this relay service will not filter out scam texts.
- Maria replies to robboI have had 12 calls from this number today. Have not answered call as I think it is a scam!
- uk resident replies to robbo"How dare" who calls you. Um, clue is "Xmas Day" so most likely a friend wishing some seasonal greetings but mistakenly picking your landline instead of your mobile, we'll never know, sadly.
Chances of a not-friend, yes, possibly ... but beware "happy new year" greetings, as "whoever" may well do same this Friday, take a chance by picking up, listen to options including source of caller, be alert, but may be someone knows you. - 0845 calls replies to rogsNo, not a chance and suggestion to try or do so would leave you open to conspiracy to GBH - or worse - murder. Think on't, life imprisonment.
- Robbie replies to TrishThe message was on the BT SMS Relay system, it doesn't work on ansaphones as you'd need to be there when it rings, pick up and listen to options from menu, better luck if it happens again. :)
- W j caseyI’ve been called by this number 10 times today. I only use my home phone for broad band. So ignoring it.
- FrostieIt's an audio text message. Someone (it was a friend), probably inebriated, sent a text to my landline. There is always a spike in the number of these calls this time of the year. Loads of posts explaining how the system works and how to pick up the message without risk and at nil post provided by a number of posts on this site going back many months.

- Joe| 1 replyGenuine BT service. Received a call today - did not reach it in time. It called again after 10 mins - I answered and listened - did not press any keys (in case it was a scam) but held on and the message was read out to me. It was a genuine message from a friend who mistakenly sent a text to my landline instead of my mobile. My only query is why I receive this service as I am not a BT customer.
- Caller: BT
- Call type: Valid
- uk resident replies to JoeBecause uk telephone network is mostly managed by Openreach whose mandate means it has to deliver calls from most if not all service providers like Sky, Virgin, TalkTalk etc., AND BT, too.
And much of that call handling is transferred via BT Exchanges, so claiming "I'm not a BT customer" doesn't really apply.
