Received five successive 084560211211 calls in last two days- pressed 1 only for the first two. Nonsensical message lasting a few seconds; eg "sorry about your fault, should be fixed by 23.59".

Still stopping back to post your lies because you want to scam people? I knew you would. Guess what? Post reported and will be removed. See, you accomplished absolutely nothing just like everything else you do. Go out, get and education and get an honest job.

Call blocker, call blocking software, your phone company are some recommendations that you could have easily found out yourself. Oh, and I am certain that the scammer known as Anon13 will be by shortly to tell you how "legitimate" these scam calls are.

0845 call received from BT text service inviting me to press 1 which I did only to find it was  a message about a supposed forthcoming delivery from a company I had never heard of. No doubt I will be charged for the call.

I see the same small-minded, rubbish opinions are being expressed, the reason I haven't visited for some time.
As previously explained, for those UK householders who are concerned about whether this 0845 number is genuine:
"It is a service operated by BT, with Openreach managing the bulk of the UK copper cable network for all UK telecomms like SKY, Virgin, TalkTalk etc, you do not have to be a BT customer to receive these text calls.
If ever someone does come on the line and speaks, then it is a scam, they've spoofed the number, hang up IMMEDIATELY, or have a bit of fun and string 'em along, really winds them up!
When someone sends a text/SMS to a landline, usually a mistake picking the name from their contact list - especially at Xmas or after " New Year festivities - unless the recipient has a text-enabled landline, BT will convert the text into an audio message.  And using txtspk abbvtns cms thru as mostly grbld gbbldeegook.
For UK readers of this, and who are worried, there is a simple and safe way to PROVE that not all calls from this 0845 are scams, just send a simple message from your mobile to your landline, to check how the system works, something like: "Hello, this is a test of the service on xxxday by [insert your name]"
When your landline rings, pick up, it won't work if you let it go to ansaphone, listen to the instructions and you'll hear your message, with further options including how to set a curfew or cancel completely. Job done, takes a few minutes.
Thereafter, if you do receive a text message in this way, still take note of the source number read out to you, if it's from a number in your contact list, should be fine but any number can be spoofed, sadly.
Do NOT call back this number as 0845 #s are NOT free to use!"
    And .... chill.

Oh look the scammer slipped a post through and now has registered under yet another name. People, don't believe one single word in that post because it was made by a lying POS scammer trying to con money out of you.
