- Hairy Nigel| 1 replyThis number called me today.
A woman said she was calling from HSBC and asked me to confirm some security details before she would continue with the conversation.
I asked her for the reason for her call and what the problem was with my account.
She said it was a routine call & there was no problem.
I told the person that if there was no problem then I had no need to speak to her.
I would never reveal personal security information to a cold caller.............
How was I to know who she was?
If it really was HSBC, & I intend to find out, I think it's time to change my bank. - AnnoyedI've just had a call from this number 0845 603 2821 - claimed she was from HSBC Princes Street. Gave the first part of my DOB, and could I confirm the rest of it for security. Asked her what the call was about, wouldn't say. Said we had to confirm my identity first. Said I didn't bank with HSBC and she went. But this is annoying. HSBC - if you're reading this - get lost. If you work in the call centre - get a life.

- 08456032821I think this is a one size fits all number for HSBC. It is DEFINITELY HSBC (have spoken to and verified them), but I've had calls for various reasons on this number - from responses to requests I've sent via email, to re-arrangements of appointments made with branch staff.

Any HELP!!! - Shaun| 2 repliesI work for HSBC, This is our number when making outbound calls to customers. It could be regarding activity on your acc or a general service call. depends on which team are calling, if you want to be sure, just phone the telebanking number and they will confirm which dept and put you through.

- The KegsI've had the same UK mobile number for three years. Never had a call from this number until two days ago, strangely enough exactly one week after I opened an HSBC bank account! When I opened the account I told them I didn't want any contact from them, cold calling, sales, advertising etc. My point is that it must be HSBC. I didn't bother to answer it, I never answer a number I don't know.

- lulu-84This number is a general answerphone number if dialed back for HSBC, its used when staff members from branch have tried to contact a customer. Usually to try to book an appointment, upsell products etc you get this picture. I know this as I have worked for HSBC for several years, sadly the number can not be used to contact the branch unless the leave a contact number if not you have to go through the god awful foreign phone service they call 'CTS' Customer Telephone Services. Pls not that if a customer requires a number to dial the branch directly then this has to be given out, as a customer you have the right to be able to call your 'home' branch ie branch where your sort-code belongs.
- Caller: HSBC
- LeanneI had a call from this number which I didn't answer. They left a voicemail saying it was HSBC calling about a loan application. They said I'd been into a branch and enquired about a loan and that I was supposed to getting back to them after I'd checked with my partner - complete fabrication!! Something fishy about this as I've not applied for any loans.
- Caller: Suspicious HSBC scam?

- Caller: HSBC BANK
- AnonIt is HSBC. They called me and asked me for details in order to verify who I was. I wasn't happy doing this in an unsolicited call especially as the caller pronounced my name wrong. Plus he was ringing from my local branch which is not the one my account is registered with. Anyway, I was not happy giving details out, so I called back the phone number on the branch website which turns out to be a central HSBC number. They were able to confirm for me that it was a service call.
It does surprise me that HSBC ask people to give out details over the phone. Why not have a branch number you could ring them directly back on to check?
So, this number is legit but my advice is, if in doubt don't ever give anyone any details. Ring them back on a number you have found independently.- Caller: HSBC
