- Aaliah replies to WillDid you mean HSBC dont employ negerians then?
- SarahI work for HSBC and this number appears no matter which branch the staff call you from. The reason we ask security questions is obviously for data protection! We will always give you the day and month of birth and ask you for the year or vice versa, and same with postcode, give you part of it and ask for the other part. These aren't just sales calls, it could be actually trying to help you for example if there is suspicious activity on your account, or if you've asked us to do something and the signature doesn't match our records!!!!!

- AnnieIt's HSBC, it would be better if they verify the numbers that may contact you on their website, given the amount of dubious calls and scams that exist. i have made the suggestion to them and they say they are going to look into it.
Like some of the other posts on here, i think it is ridiculous, particularly for a banking organisation, to ring out of the blue and when you ask them what it is about they say they cannot speak to you without confirming your identity and asking for personal information. my response is well i am not prepared to give that because i have no idea who you are.......... a better system certain things need to be developed. one can never be too cau.tious with this kind of thing is concerned. - non hsbc customerdon't know hsbc would call me, not a customer of them..
- ChrisJust a quick note to say this number: 0845 603 2821 is genuinely HSBC.
I've had several in the past, sometimes requesting to confirm my identity first, but all of them relevant. If you're getting sales calls then you're probably opted in to be contacted about new products or services.
It's worth answering though.- Caller: HSBC
- MeJust called by this number and it was from our local HSBC branch. 100% HSBC number.

- mereceived random call from this number cancelling an elderly medical appointment (my grandmother). he hung up halfway. when we rang back, claimed to be from HSBC, so we were very suspicious. The man called back afterwards, and acted very aggressively over the phone. Really, really dodgy, be cautious when answering the call, or do not answer at all.

- Caller: HSBC
- Call type: Event reminder
- TonyIf it's HSBC they have a poor way of getting new customers.
I've been plagued with silent calls from this number, often 5-15 minutes apart. They never speak, they never leave a message and just hang up.- Call type: Telemarketer
- AUNIis HSBC recruitment ring to offer a job.
- Caller: hsbc
- David SMLI had a call from this number (0345 - not o845) - Lisa (I think) asked me if I was (my name) and when I confirmed [I had noted that it was not a "number withheld call] the line immediately went dead! I immediately called back, and was informed (male voice) that I had been called by HSBC, but that I need not call them back. I then called HSBC via their website number (which also started 034560!) and when I was put through explained I was not very happy about this. He said it was definitely NOT an HSBC number, and claimed that when he rang the number the message was "this number does not take incoming calls"!

- LiselotteThis is NOT HSBC!!! I contacted HSBC from their website (via webchat) this evening and had it confirmed by a representative that this is fraudulent and possibly connected to other service providers (Vodafone etc) being compromised. The email was supposedly from my local branch! Share NO information with them. Report any calls and/or emails to the HSBC Customer Care team.
(I've left this comment on multiple sites because the people calling are also apparently leaving comments, saying that it's a legit number. Contact HSBC first before responding to this number, or to emails.)- Caller: un-HSBC
- LiselotteDamn... I should have said that 034 5603 2821 is the fraudulent number, not 0845. Sorry folks!
- Caller: un_HSBC
- JonHSBC have moved their 0845 numbers over to cheaper 0345 numbers (local call rate instead of national - see www.business.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/contact-us/ ), so as 0845 6032821 was genuine then so is 0345 6032821. In my case they called me earlier and wanted to know if I was interested in any of their investment products.
